Booked with Riviera a month before our Michigan Road Trip. Got a text and email to confirm and then a friendly text the day before saying they were looking forward to us staying with them. Nice touch. I did my research and Riviera is by far one of the best motels in town. We arrived early and met Roman who is so very nice. He allowed us early check in as our room was just done. The office is all decked out for Halloween and looks awesome. Smells so clean and fresh too. Complimentary coffee offered as well. Our room was all we needed for our 2 night stay. Step in shower with plenty of hot water and great water pressure! Rare in a motel. They have Dove shampoo and soap such a nice touch. Most places have no name brands that are gross. A cute little bix of chocolates is left on the bed for guests. Another nice touch. The bed was comfy and clean. We slept well. The views from the balcony and the window at the opposite side of the room were fantastic of the bridge and the lake. The room was freshly made up and smelled so clean. It is an older motel but they have done a great job updating it. The motel was fully booked so that right there says plenty. For a place that is closing down for the season in a week, you would never know. It is really well kept. We will definitely return and thank you for a...
Read moreThis Motel brought back so many memories. I never stayed here before this, but reminded me of the happy family vacations that I had as a kid. First, when we pulled up the location is amazing, and the place was well maintained. We parked and I went inside and was greated by Kevin. His customer service was nice and pleasant. When I opened the door to our room, it was fresh and clean, also appeared to be new carpet. The room smelled really good, not filled with masking deodorants, but had that nostalgic motel smell that I remembered when I was a kid... clean, fresh and smelled like vacation :) The staff were all pleasant. The pool was heated and well maintained, with a breathtaking view of the Mackinac Bridge. It is located right on the beach as well. The price was fair and suited our family well on this trip. I would most definitely stay here again, and highly recommend this location. The only thing (not really a negative) it did not have a microwave. However, the mini-fridge was actually cold and the freezer actually worked like a freezer lol. I have found throughout my travels, that many mini-fridges do not get cold.... but at the Riviera Motel, ours worked like it should. Again, great stay and value! Thank you staff for making our family...
Read moreI dont write reviews much but I feel this warrants a review. We stayed in room 205. First off, I understand that this is a motel and not a hotel so that doesnt impact my rating. Here is the reason for my low review. There are NO ceiling lights in the room they are a couple lamps and even with them all on, it is very dark. The TV was probably 10 years old and was bolted to to top if the dresser and you were unable to turn it enough to watch TV while in bed. The bathroom was the worst part. As soon as we got there, I looked in the bathroom and there was a huge bug in the corner that I know had to have been there a while because it was encased in a cocoon. Both the sink and shower had leaking faucets that ran/dripped the entire time we were there. Toilet was also terrible. Couldnt flush a couple pieces of toilet paper down without getting clogged. Bathroom looked to be dated around 1970. PS....If you have kids DO NOT stay in this room. Right outside the front door are the electric lines that are within arms reach from the pole. I hate to say it because I prefer to spend my money at small businesses instead of large corporations, however, I wish we would have spent the extra money and just stayed at the Holiday Inn...
