I visited Madison Buy Sell Trade over 10 years ago for the first time, and every experience Iâve had from then until now has been extremely positive. Madison BST is definitely one of my favorite stores in all of town, and is a Main Street staple. Many other stores have come and gone but theyâve been going strong for several years now. Theyâre one of the most consistently open stores on Main Street, with longer hours than most. Iâm not trying to bash other stores because I know owning a business is difficult, Iâm only highlighting how Madison BST truly goes above and beyond.
From the beginning Shawn has been very kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. You can tell that he really cares about educating people on the items they bring in, and the products at the store, without just trying to make a buck off of them. Dashawn is great as well. Heâs always helpful, friendly, and brings a bright, positive energy that you donât see too often in customer service. My experience with the rest of the staff has also been very pleasant.
I really enjoy the product selection, itâs by far the best (and I believe only?) place in town for retro games and things related. I love to go and stock up on PS2 games. Theyâre always a great price and cheaper than online listings. I also like to look through their collection of bulk TCG (trading card game) cards as well. Itâs great if youâre local and want to find old staple cards for whatever TCG you play, cards you couldnât buy at places like Walmart and would otherwise have to order online.
Iâve had wonderful experiences on the âsellâ end of it as well. Iâve had similar shops who seem to look for every reason not to buy your item, and act dismissive and cold towards you if they donât see it ending in a sale. At Madison Buy Sell Trade, itâs the opposite. They really try to work with you, and even if they arenât able to take your item, theyâll give you as much information as they can about it so you know how to proceed moving forward. They never make you feel dumb for bringing in a valueless item. Super fair pricing as well. Iâve never felt ripped off, in fact Iâm always pleasantly surprised by what theyâre willing to offer and usually anticipate less.
I highly recommend Madison Buy Sell Trade for any local or out of town shoppers. I hope they continue to thrive in Madison in the...
Read moreI visited this establishment today and absolutely appalled by the owners treatment of a customer. The gentleman had several items in his hands ready to purchase when he asked the sales clerk about a piece of old money in one of the cases. He appeared to be very knowledgeable and even looked the item up to verify the value. The owner came up and the customer asked if he would take any less for the item. The owner was very condescending and stated that the item was priced fairly. The customer was polite yet stated the item was over priced by approximately $130. The owner was sarcastic and rudely told the customer he was uninformed. I was shocked! The owner proceeded to tell the customer that he owns the store; therefore, he knows the value of items he sells. He said he paid $200 for the item and the customer simply stated that he paid to much because that was the retail price. The owner told him to lrave and never to come back. The man turned and left the store. The owner proceeded to follow the gentleman outside to where he was parked and was yelling at him that he didn't know what he was talking about. The customer said you are a crook. The owner became completely belligerent and began using profanities and racial slurs including calling the customer a "punk" and "white trash". This is completely unprofessional. There were other customers present including youth. The language was inappropriate and a very poor example of how we should all treat each other. I will be contacting the Madison Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau to report this business owner. I personally will never support his business and will share this experience with friends, family and coworkers. I am thoroughly...
Read moreLast weekend my husband and I were excited to check out this shop since we are collectors and there appeared to be a huge variety of DC comics as well as other items for purchase. My husband is in a wheelchair and we understood that many shops in Madison are not accessible due to historical architecture but we were excited to see that the entry was level to the sidewalk with double doors to this shop. I observed that most aisles were narrow but the front entrance way was sufficient for my husband to enter the building and then I could bring items to him if needed. The only problem was that one of the front doors was locked making the door too narrow for my husband's wheelchair. I politely asked the guy at the front desk if he would consider opening the door so my husband could come inside and he bluntly stated "No, he would not consider opening the door and that if my husband couldn't fit thru the door, he would probably knock everything down in the aisles!." I was surprised at the rudeness and assumption that my husband would disrupt his store. Just be aware that this place is not handicap accessible nor will the business accommodate! Update: Just for reference the manual wheelchair is 25 1/2inches wide, ADA requires 36inch wide access and since the double door to the shop was not open, the width of their single door is approximately...
