We've been going to Azteca for over 20 years. I bet I have gone there hundreds of times. Normally my review is excellent for Azteca, but that changed on 08/28/2020.
First, when we arrived the hostess asked if she could take my temperature. I knew this was the routine these days, as I've been there during the flu hysteria.
I smiled and said, "I don't know why you ask, since you are doing it anyway". She took mine and my wife's temp, then she said "well, you could just not come in" as she walked us to the table. My wife and I started discussing whether to stay or leave - we stayed, but should have left.
The normally stable staff seems to have changed quite a bit recently. Our waitress didn't speak enough English to take our order without us pointing at the items on the menu. Her service was terrible.
We wanted dessert, so she brought us a dessert menu. She hovered over us while we tried to decide. My wife was unsuccessfully attempting to ask about the dessert items and pointing to them - we finally settled on one. She brought it and we asked for another spoon, but had to ask someone else because she didn't understand "spoon".
After we had finished our meal, we wanted the check and she comes with another dessert that my wife had been trying to ask about earlier. We didn't understand and another waitress tried to help by translating. Our waitress was visibly disgusted that we hadn't ordered it, that she didn't understand.
When she brought the check the second dessert was on the bill, but not in the total. She scowled at me and said something as though she paid for it, but we didn't order it or eat it.
We were there for our 30 year anniversary. We generally go there each year on our anniversary. I think we will go somewhere else next year. I think we will avoid Azteca until things...
Read moreThis has always been our favorite place to eat and we all go often. And I mean like once a week up too once every 2 weeks. We praise the place, recommend it to others. We had family in town and of course took them here. We are normally 6 up to 8 people dining. But last night (June 26, 2021) we lost faith forever in this place and we’re embarrassed by taking our out of state family here. When we got our bill two of the steak quesadilla plates went from 17 to 22 dollars. Now this was not reflected on the menu. So we asked the server why the meal 5 dollars more than written on the menu? She said they could change the prices anytime. We felt that is fine but only if you advise your customers of the change upon ordering. Besides the fact that I can get a filet mignon at Texas Roadhouse for what we paid for a freaking quesadilla. In fact, the steak quesadilla was more expensive than the steak fajitas which were only 14.25… We wanted to question the manager on this. Our server went to get him/her but she returned appearing very uncomfortable and replied the manager said “A note is on the door that we can change prices.” The manager didn't even give us the respect to come to our table, he just sent his server back with a rude answer. We will never trust this restaurant again and most likely will never return. The price isn’t the problem…Not telling your customers about the change…and they way it was not handle…that is problem. There are plenty of places to choose to dine at. So Based on integrity I would NOT recommend this place! Management is rude and apparently could care less about...
Read moreI've always loved this place. It's been one of my favorites, but this time was just bad. It started off great, the drinks, the cheese dip, and the quac were all great. After we ordered is when it took a turn. When they brought our food out, they brought it out one plate at a time with 3-5 minutes betwen each plate. My boyfriend had to wait on his the longest because another server grabbed it to serve her table. So his had to be re-made and all we got was a sorry. We did order extra tortillas that could have been comped for the mistake, but we were charged anyway. My daughter's plate was sad. The chicken was very bland not flavorful. The same type of chicken was used in my plate, I had to give it some flavor using the salsa that comes with the chips. My son's child steak plate was very overcooked. When we tried to order dessert, the server took one order and walked away. We were intending in ordering 4 different desserts. We had to wait until the first dessert got delivered before we could order the other desserts. I will more than likely not return to Azteca even though it has been one of my favorites for years. It's sad, but...
