Hale Napili — Hotel in Maui

Location location location. Really can’t get better than exciting your back door to the Napili Bay, such a gorgeous beach. Staff was also pleasant and you do have a full kitchen/bbq if that’s your style.

Now we had probably an abnormal stay here but really this didn’t feel upscale in any way to me (except the location & cost but does that count?). First off they really need a fail safe for proving check in information. There is no clarification that there isn’t a front desk past 3pm and my info just was not delivered by email. This left us arriving outside confused what to even do upon arrival. The provided phone numbers in the emails just seem to be front desk numbers. We ended up speaking to guests who were nice enough to share the emergency number we didn’t have access to then hope for a return call which luckily arrived shortly after. Obviously something that just can’t happen.

Now the oceanfront studio isn’t really anything to write home about either to be honest. Half carpeted, a strange bathroom setup, no streaming device of any kind, shoddy internet; just didn’t feel right for our rate of 400+ per night (cheaper if you book earlier but still). Continuing with the strangeness, we actually had a lizard just crawling on our wall while we were getting ready to sleep. They’re harmless but that was a nice jump scare. Unless one quickly slipped in which I doubt, I suspect this guy got in during cleaning with the door open for a prolonged period of time. I strongly feel Hale Napili should change its name to Hale Napili condominiums or Hale Napili Vacation rentals rather than resort. It is very deceiving to those who have never been here. In fact, it started our vacation off on completely the wrong note.

Things you should know about Hale Napili before booking:

1. There is no pool
2. There is no restaraunt on site or ANY opportunity to purchase premade food/meals
3. The service, while nice, are NOT always on site and available
4. There is no bar/drinks down in common area
5. There is no checkin foyer
6. No spa amenities
7. No lattes, espressos, or capuccinos
8. NO elevator!

What is good?

1. Literally on the beach. Almost too close in my opinion (haha) as the waves will come up 100% to the wall border
2. It is generally quiet and private
3. Amazing views
4. Close to many other great places
5. They do have a keurig in the common area for use
6. Shuffle board
7. Some beach items for common use - noodles, floaties

We came here when I was 7 1/2 mos pregnant. Not the ideal place for me. I wish we had not been duped as in renting we truly thought we were getting a resort. I should have known but the pictures with umbrellas I kept thinking there was a pool. My fault. Had we known I don't think we would have booked here.

Are you kidding? We had the best apartment in the building! Ocean views could not have been better, sunrise to sunset. Even the garden units are lush and private. Exclusivity is what Hale Napili offers. Beach front property, happy and friendly staff, available grills and outside dining, cleanliness, free do-it-yourself laundry facilities, well-stocked kitchen needs from pots and pans to coffee maker and wine glasses, nothing is wanting. And best of all, above and beyond, is Jamie, the manager. She truly has everyone's enjoyment and satisfaction high, high, high on her list and always finds time for hellos, suggestions, and sincere interest. My wife and I intend to continue our new annual tradition of spending at least one week a year at this wonderful property. Snorkeling equipment is available for rent a three-minute walk away, parking is ideal, a shopping center with restaurants and a grocery store is a five minute drive away, and a feeling of welcome permeates anyone and everyone's stay at Hale Napili. You want to relax? This is the place! You want a totally wonderful home base from which to explore Maui adventures? This is the place! You couldn't ask for a better location nor a better feeling of being part of a family. I wish them...
