The lobby hours are 9-5, so if checking in after 5 PM use the security phone in the lobby and speak to someone at management who will send a security guard to provide a temporary room key code. You will need to check in the following day during lobby hours. It did take about a half hour for the security guard to arrive. We had two rooms during our stay at this property. One was a one bedroom condo on the lower floor of building H with a partial ocean view overlooking the lower pool and Napili bay. I found it to be clean, quiet and well stocked enough to cook meals with the groceries we bought at Costco and Safeway in Kahului. The refrigerator is full sized so no limits on the groceries. The unit had a renovation at some point probably in the past 5 years. The sunset may be viewed from your patio or you can walk down to the guest viewing area and join the others to watch the nightly spectacle.||After 2 days we checked into the second floor of the ocean front building known as building I. Upon opening the door we new we had found heaven on earth with that condo. You can see the ocean front view framed by tall palm trees with Molokai in the background and are immediately beaconed to the balcony by the sound of crashing waves on the rocks below. You have the best view of the sunsets from the balcony. They are outstanding and picture worthy. The accommodations were a studio apartment with a kitchenette, small dining table, large flat screen TV, a murphy bed and a pull out chair bed. Both were comfortable. The bathroom was full size with shower, large vanity, full size sliding mirrored doors on the closet with ample storage shelves. We used the fan for cooling and opened the transom windows to accommodate a cross breeze coming through the screen door on the balcony at night. ||There is a very popular breakfast and lunch restaurant that opens at 7:30 AM, but the line begins forming between 6-6:30 AM. You can call in an order for pick-up if you want to bring it back to your room. There are 3 full size gas grills by each pool that are serviced daily by grounds crew. The gas is turned on by timers on wooden posts near the grills. There is a second restaurant/bar that opens from 2-8 to cover late lunch and dinner. There is a water sports rental for everything from beach chairs to surfboards. There are mostly rocky tide pools in front of the property but a sandy beach can be reached on through a gate and down some stairs. Parking can be tricky due to so many people coming for the restaurant from. There is only one spa/hot tub. ||The staff was professional, courteous and 5-star the entire time we were there. The grounds are well kept and they do have security cameras and shared security guards spread among other properties. I will stay here again. It may not be for those who want to be in the hustle and bustle of the Kanapali Boardwalk and large resorts and overpriced restaurants. The Seahouse Restaurant is with in walking distance on the opposite side of the sandy beach. Previous reviewers stated they had ants and roaches in their rooms. We had a few ants in the bathroom and only saw one roach in the lobby the first night we were there.||I personally like most everything about this property even though it was a little dated and out of the way. Its relaxing, quiet, and serene. You can hear the birds singing and the...
Read moreThis was our first trip to Maui and I heavily researched where to stay based on what we love to do, relax, eat and drink. We chose the Napili area because of its beauty but also the relaxed vibe. I came across this hotel in my searches on Google and then took to VRBO to find a condo within the resort. A few tips and good to knows!
Our trip was the first week of may and we had great weather. Not too hot days and beautiful nights with breezy weather. We booked a condo (1bd 1bath) and ended up staying in a condo that was different that advertised on VRBO. This is not a bad thing since we ended up with an ocean view. Some of the condos are owner operated at the resort while others are operated by iTrip Maui and others are direct through the resort. Figure out what you’re booking and through who before you book. Neither is a bad choice just good to know. We opted for a second floor unit but there are no elevators. We liked having our screen door open all night and the windows in the bedroom for the tradewind effect. It was heavenly.
There’s two restaurants on site. Kitchen 5315 and the Gazebo. Definitely visit the tiki bar inside Kitchen 5315 you won’t be disappointed. We ordered to go at the gazebo once for lunch. Line is always long even at 630 AM.
Rent your beach chairs for $25 each through the on-site rental shop. Unless your unit provides them.
Food is $$$$ in Maui even at Safeway. Come prepared budget wise. I wouldn’t call Maui and foodie vacation spot but we ate well nonetheless.
The laundry facilities are nice and the vending machines have single use detergent for sale. It’s $5.00 for one wash and dry. Not cheap but a perk if you are vacationing for 10 days or more. Our unit provided a laundry basket which was handy.
The beach and pool are spectacular. We loved every minute of relaxation. The beach access from the resort is easy and a short walk, but not ADA accessible once you get to the stairs down to the beach. This beach is not flat like most in Kihei or Kaanapali so be aware of that. The grounds are beautiful and well kept.
I wouldn’t call this resort a party friendly resort so if you’re going with a big group of friends be aware quiet hours start at 10pm. It was just the two of us for our anniversary so that wasn’t a concern.
Napili is in northwest Maui so it’s about an hour drive from the airport and if you plan on doing the road to Hana note you’ll have to drive the extra time to Paia and then onto the road to Hana.
Everything was as advertised and we will 100% be back to stay here again and again. Even after visiting Kihei and Wailea we love love love Napili. It’s so special when you find a place you know you want to visit...
Read moreCheck In: After-hours check-in was simple. You call the number at the checkout desk and a security guard will arrive within minutes and check you in.
Parking: There was plenty of parking at it was free. Throughout the week I never had any trouble finding a parking spot, however on the east side of the property it gets pretty full in the morning from non-resort guests parking to eat at the Gazebo restaurant.
The Condo: The condo was clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and functional. We did not have any issues with the appliances and everything worked well. The kitchen is stocked with most basic cooking equipment as well as a range stove and oven. There were air conditioning units in the bedroom and living room but we did not need them - we opened all the louvre windows at night and the steady breeze from the trade winds kept the room comfortable and cool.
The Grounds: The property was beautiful. Hats off to the groundskeepers. The resort essentially a botanical garden and filled with beatiful plant life. There are two pools - one at the north end by the office and another at the south end by the beach. Both of them were quiet and relaxing during our stay. There were two restaurants on the property - The Gazebo, which serves breakfast and lunch (but no alcohol) - and Kitchen 5315, which serves dinner (and alcohol). The food at both these establishments was great. Kitchen 5315 did seem to have inconsistent hours and was occasionally closed during their posted business hours.
The Staff: I interacted with two staff members during my visit and both were kind and went out of their way to give me recommendations about things to eat/see/do to make the most of my visit.
The Location: The resort is steps away from Napili Beach, which is one of my favorite beaches in Maui. The beach is great for snorkeling and afternoon sun. We watched the sunset from the beach several of the nights we were there. The resort is close to a paved coastal walking trail that passes several resorts and beaches and offers incredible views of the cliffs overlooking the ocean. The resort is also within walking distance of several other resort attractions (The Slack Key show) and restaurants that we visited.
If I had to do it all over again, I would come back to Napili Shores. And I probably will if I'm ever on this side of the...
