Where to even begin with this place. My husband and I have been here a week on our honeymoon and our first night I searched for restaurants around us to try and Kitchen 5315 was near the top of my list. Good reviews, a food and drink menu that looked fantastic. I was sold. And finally, on our last night in Maui, I got us a reservation for dinner. And much like the waves of Napili Bay, my hopes were smashed onto the rocks.
We got there at our reservation time of 5:00pm. We were seated quick after a check of our vaccination cards which we greatly appreciated. Almost immediately a gal comes to deliver a bottle of water to our table. Despite there being only one other table with guests in the entirety of the restaurant, on four separate occasions, the wait staff came to the edge of our section and all four of them observed the tables, looking at our table as though it were empty.
At 5:22pm a small group is seated at the table next to us. At 5:25pm they have their drink order taken. At 5:30pm their drinks are delivered to their table and their food order taken.
At 5:33pm my husband has now had enough and goes up to where all the waiters/waitresses are congregated at the bar like an office water cooler and kindly requests their presence at our table.
At 5:35pm, the HOSTESS, comes over and apologizes, and takes our food and drink order. Our server was apparently not feeling well and had to take a moment to collect himself, but felt good enough to wait on the table next to us. What a trooper.
At 5:45pm, our waiter, now the hostess is nowhere to be seen, brings our appetizer, an order of their huli huli chicken wings(more on that later), and my entree, the teriyaki cheesesteak sandwich. We’re asked if they can get us anything else. Yeah. Our drinks and my husband’s food.
We’re now at 5:50pm and our drinks have finally arrived. My cocktail, cheekily named “tiny bubbles” was presented on the menu as a passion fruit and lemon mimosa with a rose brut. The tropical blend flavored V8 splash I’m currently enjoying while writing this review has more flavor at a much friendlier price point. I recommend their bartender visit a local Applebee’s as they might learn a thing or two about how to make mai tai. Still no sign of my husband’s food.
The clock ticks over to 5:57pm and after munching on a few over salted fries that had been frozen an hour prior, and eating a chicken wing that was worse than the teriyaki wings from Buffalo Wild Wings, hubby and I were done. We grabbed our stuff and left. And not a single staff member questioned us.
The negative reviews on google speak for themselves. Save your money and sanity and eat at the McDonald’s down the highway in Lahaina.
1/5 stars only because Google won’t let me leave a 0/5...
Read moreCame to Maui with a group of family friends and after a nice day at Napili Bay, we had a hunger for some local style Hawaiian food.
In comes Kitchen 5315 Restaurant & Tiki Bar.
Located in the main building of the Napili Shores Maui by Outrigger, this place isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a fun Tiki bar to hang out with friends and grab drinks later into the night.
If you happen to be free from beach fun early enough, they have a Happy Hour from 3-5 which includes 30% off all of their appetizers $1 off draft beers and the $15 Mai Tai’s are $8 a piece (Great Deal!)
On to the menu, they have a nice selection of foods for a wide range of palates. Simple items for kids, meat and seafood options and they even do a Prime Rib dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. One of my favorites is the 4 Luau menu items, giving you the opportunity to have a plate with 3-5 things for a nice mix/combo plate of their fun stuff.
The food was prepared quickly and with attention to detail. Our server was new, but helpful and very friendly, and made some great suggestions to our group of things to try and their personal favorites.
The Mahi Mahi with macadamia nut crust is very lightly floured and cooked perfectly, very delicious. The Kalua Pork is just like it should be and the Kalbi Beef Short Ribs are Super Tasty! Oh, and did I say Poké, super yummy with just the right spicy kick. (Nice tender tuna)
BTW, do not expect to come here for a Bloody Mary, they don’t have the ingredients. Who cares, we’re in the Tropics, get something fruity and fun! They have a great selection of signature cocktails to satisfy your thirst craving.
If you are in the area, staying in Napili, or getting on to/off of the beach and want a great place to sit down and grab a meal, or swing by the Tiki bar for a nice relaxed and chill vibe for an adult beverage, Kitchen 5315 Restaurant and Tiki Bar is a definite Hit!
Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I hope have an amazing stay on the island of Maui.

Read moreWe came to Kitchen 5315 because we are staying in Kaanapali and the majority of reviews are positive, so we got all dressed up and headed to Napili. When we got there the restaurant was empty and they had a big table for us and our server was great. However, most of the food was mediocre, bordering on horrible. First, my father and husband each ordered a Pepsi and it had the most disgusting chemical flavour and was flat. We told the waitress and she went and tried it and agreed, but then said her Manager thought it tasted better than usual. She brought us another softdrink and it was also flat with the same weird taste and it was warm. Clearly something is wrong with their machine, and she didn't charge us for the drinks which was nice. Then there was the water, it came in dirty looking wine bottles, was room temperature and the glasses tasted like dishwasher. The edamame and wings we ordered were actually good, I will say that, but the compliments end there. I ordered the chicken tacos and honestly, they were so bad I could not eat them. I think the chicken was floured and then cooked on a flat top? I think? And it was on top of stale corn tortillas with some wilted slaw and a slimey pineapple salsa. Possibly the worst chicken tacos I've ever had. Very disappointing. My Dads fish and chips was not, as advertised, a "generous" portion and was extremely greasy, the macaroni salad that he chose as a side had so much dressing on it, it was not edible. However, my husband's macadamia crusted mahi was good, so that was a bit of a saving grace. We were expecting a nice evening out but sadly this experience left alot to be desired and I am just thankful we got away without food poisoning. This restaurant has so much potential but it seems that because they are attached to a resort they feel they don't have to put in any effort; there will always be a steady turnover of new and unknowing customers looking for a decent...
