This place is a MUST!!! Anyone wondering - YES the wait is most definitely worth it. My partner and I went in late May and arrived on a Sunday morning around 7:20 am. We found a parking place no problem walked up to quite a line already! No I will say I was naive and did not know how insanely popular or the wait typically was. My partner was all prepared for this. I’m like but they are not even open?! Ha ha !! When I saw two couples with beach chairs sitting in line I knew 1) this was serious and 2) their food must be next level legit!! We waited in line until we were seated just shortly after 9 but the views were stunning as we waited! Ocean front views ahead of us, warm salty breeze mixed with aroma of pancakes YUM!! When we were sat our server was so friendly and had a great sense of humor which we love and appreciate. She made some recommendations and we split the white chocolate macadamia nut pancakes and the Maui omelet. We also tried POG juice for first time and WOW. Soooo delicious! Sooo… let my me tell you about these pancakes my friends. I’m a little bit particular about pancakes as I’m sure many are. These were next level. They were thick and fluffy - but not dry and too cakey. They had Mac nuts IN the pancake AND a little pile of crumbled nuts on top with some white chocolate chips and a pile of homemade whipped cream that had such a unique flavor!! Delicious comforting and addictive! They are also ginormous as they are as big as the plate! We split the Maui omelette which was ham and pineapple with Swiss cheese. I usually get cheddar by default and thought why not? So delicious - salty but not over the top with the Swiss and ham but creamy as well. The touch of sweetness from the pineapple helped offset the salty notes the ham and cheese provide. The potatoes were delicious with the eggs too. Gently fried but never burnt. I’m not a huge potato person so I wanted more pancakes for my carb choice but they were really tasty. All this and comes with a side of toast with your choice of jams. Service was fast, friendly and she didn’t miss a beat. Even coming around to tell a joke or two - just going the extra mile all the way around. Such a treat to start the day and on our first day of our trip - treat yourself and indulge in these one of a kind pancakes with gorgeous views- just get there early or bring beach chairs! Ha ha! We will be back!!! :)
Oh one tip - if you have time after you eat and want to walk off some of the pancake you enjoyed go down to the beach behind the restaurant. There is a short walkway with steps to a beach with black rocks sand and beautiful clear water. It was fun to hang around down there for a bit. I took my shoes off and put my feet in got some pics. If you plan to do this take some change of shoes And a towel to wipe off sandy...
Read moreFirst things first. If you plan to dine in, expect to wait for about an hour. There is no list to put your name on, just a line to stand in. Some visits it's less than an hour wait, some visits it's more, but there is usually a wait for dine in, so be prepared!
*Pro Tip: they have "Sun-brellas" available to use while waiting for those hot days or the occasions where you get some rain. *Pro Tip: use the wait time to make new friends, have someone from your party (or one of your new friends!) Hold your place in line while you go snap some photos at the tide pools just below and take in the incredible views!
If you absolutely don't want to wait, you can order to go, or better yet, call ahead. They'll get you in and out as quickly as possible.
Now that's out of the way, you'll be in for some delicious food either way. We typically stick to the breakfast/ brunch menu since that's what we come for. The pineapple pancakes with coconut syrup, fried rice, and Big Kahuna omelet are some of our faves here and we typically opt for Portuguese sausage instead of bacon because it's Hawaii. 🤷🏾♂️
*Pro Tip: Order your breakfast entree and get a half order of the fried rice to split (get the full order if it's more in your party or you're a greedy butt.😉)
The service is always great here. The waitresses are super friendly.
Parking is usually tricky, especially as of this writing where they blocked off several spaces in the hotel lot that were designated for restaurant parking. If you DO find a spot in the hotel lot, make sure you only park in the spaces that say "Restaurant Parking". You can find some additional parking spots to the north of the lot, but those fill up as well. Outside of that you may have to look a little further away or get creative. 🤷🏾♂️
Our visits here have been great experiences each time, but it helps to know what to expect going in. Respect people, respect the culture leave the attitudes and privilege at home and prepare to enjoy some great food in one of the most beautiful places...
Read moreNo kidding. They won the best breakfast award in 2009. Long line sometimes reaching the checkers outside. All the reasons mentioned and yet you see people happily waiting in line for about an hour.
The venue. Is a no brainier. It is located right by the beach. Next to a beautiful blue pool. To while your time away while waiting make a stop at this tiny jewelry store right next to it. It's so cute and definitely carry some sweet locally hand crafted rings and necklace.
We were told that they open at 7 am and eager customers start lining up around that time as well. No sign up sheets and no reservations. 100% first come serve basis.
Their specialty is definitely one of the things I wanted to try. That is their pancake Combo: macadamia, pineapple and banana. $10.75. You can order this individually as well. I decided to get the whole explosive combo. With a side of corned beef hash.$ 4.50. The latter is unique in the sense it was the thinnest layer of corned beef hash ever. But packed with flavor. The former was packed with the aforementioned flavors of macadamia, pineapple and banana. Topped with their home made whipped cream and chopped macadamia nuts. Now this has to be doused with their original sauce. What is it? It's coconut! Do not use a different sauce. Let go of that sauce you're used to and zero in on the OG instead! Two fluffy gazebo pancakes will set you back $10.75 ( short stack) if you're a three type of pancake guy then add $3 more. Live dangerously! Pay that addl $3!
To help me survive the big meal I had their POG. What? You don't know? Get out from under that rock you're in. :) it's a blend of passion, orange and guava.
Ok the design of this restaurant is one with nature. You have a wall, roof and windows. With that it is still open. So birds fly in and out. Zoom back and forth. It's the best. Take it or go somewhere else.
To me and to many more this is the best of what island living is. Less confinement and more of...
