The Choice Hotel Brand's Quality Inn Holland (1401 E Mall Dr Holland, OH). First, let me state that since the beginning of the year, I have stayed in over 75 Choice hotels. Since my job requires me to travel throughout the year, I stay in hotels 25 out of every 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) in a month. This makes the hotel my home for a few nights before moving on to the next job. Having always enjoyed the services provided by Choice hotels as a guest, I have recommended them to friends, family, and especially coworkers in my field. Lately, it is getting harder for me to find a reason to continue doing so. The last trip was the one that pushed me over the brink, prompting me to consider switching hotel brands. I am not only appalled, but I am also disappointed by the kind of treatment I have received as a guest. I expect the hotel staff to treat me with respect and care, as well as to keep the hotel clean. On March 18, 2022, when I checked into my room, the front desk staff did not impress me with a very off-putting and unwelcome attitude. While I recognize that not everyone has a good day, I do expect someone in the hospitality sector to be welcome. There was nothing particularly alarming when I got to my room and looked around. I had been extremely exhausted from my 12-hour drive and had fallen asleep still in my clothes on top of the comforter. When I woke up the next morning, I extended my stay another night, using the points I earned from Choice hotel stays to pay for my stay. About 11 p.m., I decided to call it a night, and when I pulled back the top blanket to the bed, I was shocked to see what I saw. The sheet had a noticeable stain and there was long black hair all over the sheets, but as I pulled back the blanket more, I noticed more stains and hair. I was ready to lie on a dirty bed that was coated in someone else's body fluids since this bed was dirty. It is not my problem how a bed was made with dirt linens, but it is a health hazard. Given the global nature of Covid-19, hotel employees are expected to be more vigilant in their efforts to avoid it. I tried calling the front desk to ask for fresh bedding or another room, but no one answered. After not receiving an answer, I decided to go to reception and express my concern, as well as get a fresh set of CLEAN sheets to remake my bed before I went to bed. As soon as I stepped in, the front desk receptionist noted my presence, so I explained that I had checked in the night before and had fallen asleep on top of the blankets when I arrived. So, the night before I never saw the dirty sheets under the blankets, I would change them myself if I could get a set of CLEAN sheets. She said nothing and returned to the stocking of coffee cups. She went on to say that there is no clean linen because no one was washing them in the laundry room today. I was surprised that a hotel couldn't even supply a new sheet to replace the one that was already contaminated. She then told me she could offer me a dirty sheet if I needed one, and when I asked if there was a clean room with a clean bed, she replied no, that they were all taken. It is inexcusable to inform a guest that you have no clean sheets and that they must sleep on someone else's dirt linens and then do not check to see if she has a clean room. I would like to believe that the Choice hotel chain does not believe it is OK to rent unclean rooms to guests without trying to correct the situation. As a result, I paid for two nights of sleeping in a filthy bed, and the front desk employees treated me as if I were insane for asking. Is this the image and voice that the Brands of Choice Hotels wants to portray? I want to believe that this experience can quickly be resolved. I have pictures that I attached and I'm ready to contact the local health department and news about this stay, but I hope we can come up with something proper as a Diamond member of Choice Hotel brands. I hope you can restore my faith in the...
Read moreI stayed in room 333 on Nov. 29th and 30th. The first night was freezing cold. They were doing some painting and had the hallway doors open all night. There was a breeze blowing in under the door so I had to run the heater on high all night! I tried placing towels down to block the draft. After working 13 hours plus driving 2.5 hours I was exhausted and just dealt with it. The next night after work I came in and did my nightly routine. When I went to lay down and moved the pillows I saw a bedbug on the pillow. I grabbed a ziplock baggie and put it in it. As I was inspecting the bug I saw another one crawling on the wall. I put it in the bagging, packed my belongings and went to the front desk. I was very upset. It was about 1100pm by the time I had finished packing and went down. I had to be at work at 0645 the next morning. The lady at the desk didn't have much to say when I handed her the key card and bag of bedbugs. The only thing she offered me was another room. Working in large hospitals, i know how bedbugs work. There is no way I could sleep in that building! She then told me there was nothing she could do until the manager arrived at 0700. She wouldn't even give me my money back so I could find another place to stay. Knowing I had to work the next day I decided to attempt to sleep in my car but it was just too cold. I also tried contacting Choice hotel customer service but they didn't open until 0700 either! It was almost 0200 at this point and I felt very uncomfortable as I watched the sketchy people pulling in and sitting for a bit then leaving. I decided for my own safety and for the patients who would be under my care that coming day that I would call off and return home. I had to bag all of my things, wash everything that could be laundered, and quarantine what could not like my Michael Kors purse. When I finally talked to customer service after they opened they were also no help. They are refunding me my money which I fully expected but then tell me it will be 5-7 days. They offered nothing else for this disaster. They also told me the manager was to call me and never did. I am a Choice platinum member and this is how they treated me. I have 4 children at home and will not risk bringing bedbugs home to my family. I also lost over $400 income for missing that 1 day of work which has caused hardship for my family right before Christmas. I had stayed at this hotel many times and am sickened by this whole ordeal. I will never stay here again. I hope this helps prevent others from going through...
Read moreArrived at 2am for a quick nights sleep after driving from St. Louise Missouri. Got a room on the second floor which the person working the desk had to struggle to open with a physical key. We didn’t get card keys because the card reader was broken and hadn’t been fixed. || ||Website says $10 a night per pet. We asked how much for a pet and were told it was $35. We paid $40 cash for a small dog and didn’t get change since the front desk person was dealing with something on the phone. ||||We got put in a non smoking room, but it smelled heavily of cigarettes. The front desk person asked us if it was okay and being tired we said yes at 3:00am. Upon settling down, the T.V. was broken, the bathroom door hinge was unscrewed so the door wouldn’t fully close at all. The bathtub had different paint strokes on the walls and the phone had been disconnected so there was no way to call the front desk.||Notified the person working the front desk after walking down to the lobby and sharing an elevator with a drunk person. The person was so drunk he pretended to steal the food of the person working the front desk while he was gone to the restroom (I assume). I showed him a photo of the broken T.V. So he wouldn’t charge my account for any damage charges, he said he would add a note to our account, but still let the person working the morning shift know. ||I tried sleeping, but got woken up about 1 hr to itchy sensations. I turned on my phones flashlight and inspected the bed to find about 2 big brown bed bugs and upon further expecting the pillows another 4 smaller bed bugs with no color. Checked out at 8am after my other family member woke up. ||Upon driving away from the hotel I got pulled over by a cop who was doing a routine check for drugs since our license plates were from a different state. The officer stated that they had a long term, previous and recent problem with some people staying/ living there. I’ve had good experiences with Quality Inn’s before, but this one is...
