This Quality Inn is located about 8 miles from downtown off Rt 40 at exit 12. There are at least two Choice hotels at this location alone with other major chain motels plus several choices in places to eat including Applebees and Cracker Barrel and fast food chains. It is a couple of blocks off the exit, easy to get to and in a quiet location. It is smaller than some of the other hotels/motels but of all the Choice Hotels at this exit, had the best reviews. My wife and I chose this hotel because we decided we did not want to stay downtown and it was closer in proximity to the places we had planed to visit, including the Memphis Zoo (very nice) Dixon Gardens and Gallery, Pink Palace and of course Graceland along with Beale Street, Mud Island and a dinner cruise on a stern wheeler - all downtown - and check out Bass Pro Shops huge pyramid. We stayed six nights and when we booked my wife was concerned that the AARP price was too low and we might not be satisfied. But I trusted the reviews and were pleasantly surprised. We were warmly greeted by the staff and the fish in the large tank there at the front desk. (the fish are very curious and will all come to the glass and look at you when you quietly approach the tank - except for the bigger fish - they hide in the rocks and greenery.) Check in was easy as always with Choice Hotels, staff was friendly and efficient. Our room was large and well appointed. (King bed - couch and coffee table - desk - dresser - space for suitcase - fridge and microwave - and safe in the closet - staying for six nights we unpacked and made ourselves at home) Bathroom was typical with at least 6 feet of counter space for storing all your hygiene items. The only thing I did not like, and this happens a lot - the ice bucket and coffee maker are on that counter top - I always move the ice bucket out into the bedroom and never use the coffee maker. I wish hotels would discontinue the practice of placing the coffee maker and ice buckets in the bathroom. It just does not seem clean! Breakfast was sufficient with eggs and sausage, biscuits and gravy, cereal, a waffle maker, assorted pastries, bagels and bread, yogurt and fruit plus coffee and juice. Fresh popcorn always available in the lobby too. Internet was average. We enjoyed our stay in Memphis and the Quality Inn. The Patels were very accommodating and made every effort to ensure our stay was pleasant - and it was. Thanks to all!! [ lots of food choices East on 40 -Texas Road House etc. - one of the best steaks I have ever enjoyed was at the Side Porch Restaurant - bacon wrapped filet for $18 about 4 miles from the hotel - use GPS...
Read moreWe came in at 9 at night after driving most of the day with 5 kids and we were looking forward to a good night’s rest to finish our drive. When we pulled up I was a little worried just because of the behavior and in and out of some of the guests at the hotel. However we were tired and I had made a reservation already as a choice hotel reward member, so we went forward. We got a cart unpacked our van and headed to our room. As soon as we stepped foot on the 2nd floor we noticed a strange odor, sort of like mildew and cigarettes. As we got to the hallway our room was on the smell got worse and was a mix of pot and cigarettes. I was hoping in our room maybe the smell wouldn’t be bad, and while it was better, the whole experience worried me so I called down. The hotel manager just simply said those people would have to pay a deposit or something if their room smelled later. She offered to move us, but we really can’t take chances since we have a child with a congenital heart defect who already had one open heart surgery this year and has another coming, he doesn’t need that exposure, and neither did any of the rest of us. I am thoroughly disappointed. I have been a Choice Hotel member for years and stayed at many hotels since when we travel it is by minivan, which means our family stays in a hotel. We ended up having to check out and find another hotel which for a family of our size and middle class income can be a challenge. Furthermore it was past 10 when we finally got everything loaded back in our van. Thankfully we had family step up to help us locate a new hotel otherwise our plan was to drive through the night, which isn’t ideal and we were already tired. We just wanted to check in and get some rest. Apparently there are currently locals staying at the hotel and I guess treating it more like home and not following rules. We are pretty sure some other unfavorable activity was occurring so DO NOT stay there with small children. This is not a place for families. Thankfully the Best Western in West Nashville is...
Read moreStraight from the airport and checked in . My first impression not good . Looked more like a hostel. However I approached my room and noticed the lock was damaged on the door . The first red flag. Second ! The curtains were filthy and hung off the rail , the pool was covered over decorated with rubbish and empty beer cans . The room stunk bad of stale cigarettes . Yet the receptionist said that if I smoke outside the hotel I will be heavily fined . How does that make any sense?? I couldn’t believe the attitude considering I’ve only just walked through their doors . What a Loverly welcome ! There was no welcome pack in the room such as soap or at least shampoo milk tea or a Kettle . The bath was filthy . I dare not to sleep in the bed . I’m not a snob , I’ve slept in tents . But I have standards . The WiFi was weak . I needed to contact my family and I could t because the WiFi was very unreliable . The receptionist gave me a number to call to get it sorted . Try telling her I havnt WiFi to do it . I walked around to a petrol garage to purchase some soap etc and I felt unsafe due to men everywhere some solo walking around loitering calling out to me . One geezer asked me for money . Back at the hotel I had to get out of here . I started to panic . No one understood me and I became very frustrated to the point of tears . I asked reception for a taxi but that all depended on where I wanted to go . Well where can I go . I’m from England . The place looked beautiful in the brochure but didn’t look anything like it when I saw it for my self . I was left in a dire place and area . I told the reception I need to check out . I just couldn’t stay there it was a horrible disgusting smelly dirty place I’m so sorry to say . Guests or were they looked like they were actually living there . Never in my life have I been deceived or seen a hotel quite like it . A complete dump ! Call yourself quality inns ? Nothing...
