Let me start with this. I’ve been eating at Tops, various locations, since 1965. Always a huge fan, and always loved it. That being said, weekly, sometimes 2 times a week, I meet with several friends, at Tops, Macon Rd., for lunch. The last three times lately, the BBQ sandwich barely had enough meat on it to taste it. The bun, slaw, and sauce overwhelmed the flavor of the meat. There was a small amount of meat on the sandwich. All of our party had the same experience. Everyone in our group of five were greatly disappointed, but no one complained to the staff, we all just wrote it off to a bad day Tops may have been having. The follow week, same group, much to our disappointment, the same thing happened again. Everybody had said that’s it, Tops is off the list. Two weeks later, which was last Tuesday, Jan.3, 2023, I convinced a couple of our lunch crowd to give Tops yet another final try again. Same experience, and I even ordered an extra ounce of meat, with I’m pretty sure never made it on the sandwich, even though I paid extra for it. On top of that, the meat was tough, and COLD!! No one finished their meal, and we ended up going next door to Wendy’s for a burger. I’m writing this, not so much to complain, but to maybe let someone in management know there’s a serious problem going on. Maybe somebody will care, or maybe this is Top’s new mode of operation. As a solid 58 year fan and customer of Tops, I’m regrettably going elsewhere for my weekly BBQ lunch. I know Tops has new owners, and I’m sure they are making decisions they deem best. I wish them luck and success, but it will be without me and my...
Read moreHorrible service, horrible food & horrible staff! Went here just the other day & waited almost an hour for 3 combos.. got a bbq sandwich & 2 burgers. I go in to see if my order is ready they said no they have a bunch of orders ahead, I've already been waiting 40mins at this point. They call out to see if mine is done & it's just sitting back there on the counter. The bbq sandwich was cold & dry but the sauce was good. I asked for a oz of brisket on one of my burgers & they didn't add it on there. Go back in to get my brisket & they say they are out. No one informed me at the time of my purchase so I asked for pork. The lady who I think is the manager not sure but seemed like it was totally rude about everything the whole time! When I get home & we open up the burger it is so soggy & messy. Everything was falling off & was just not even edible. It was trashed. No one wants a nasty soggy sloppy burger. Tops is nowhere near as good as they used to be. These people need to be retrained or something. It was just awful. Only one lady was nice to me & patient with me & I will remember her for that. All in all bad experience & don't care to give them another chance. Fergusons BBQ definitely has Tops BBQ beat...
Read moreWe wanted to give this place a fair shot but the negative reviews won out.
The brisket was mostly fat on BOTH plates. There were fat chunks spread across the brisket nachos…unappetizing is an understatement.
Don’t even get me started on the coleslaw…anticlimactic comes to mind.
Mac and cheese BBQ, good concept but poor execution. LESS FAT.
About the ribs: My son says they were “mid.” He expected it to be better.
The apple turnovers made me sad. Where is the flavor?
They forgot to give us our order of fries and beans so when my husband went back…they were still sitting there.
Nothing was warm aside from the beans, which were lukewarm surprisingly .
I get that you guys get busy, but the vast majority of people don’t buy brisket to only get a minuscule amount of meat and pay mostly for fat. So maybe trim a bit better.
As per the brisket nachos, SHRED the brisket instead of chunks of some brisket but mostly fat and chip crumbs.
On a positive side: the beans were decent and my husband liked the potato salad.
Would I ever try this place again? Negative. I would rather go to some fast food place where I know I am lowering my expectations on the quality of food I...
