This review will sound like an echo of 1 star reviews, but I gave a 3 star because that's fair. Today, I entered the store, knowing exactly which firearm I was coming to purchase and at what price. Robert was the store associate that was assisting me. I show him the firearm on my phone. He searches the case for 5 minutes before pointing out another gun that was an old version of the one I came for. I told him several times that this was the incorrect pistol; however he insisted that it was the correct one. I told him to compare the SKU online to the one identified in the case. As expected, It was not the same firearm. He says, "Well, I don't see it in the case. I dont know if we have it." The correct answer should have been, "I dont see it in the case. Let me check our inventory." Well, I told Robert that their website says that this store has it in stock. He finally finds it and brings it to the counter and we begin completing paperwork. Throughout this entire 30-45 min interaction. Robert offers not one smile, no small talk, or friendly conversation. He is short, silent, and has a flat affect. I assume Robert is just having a bad day.. Until a coworker comes over to joke with him. Now he is smiling, now he is pleasant, now he is holding conversation. That coworker leaves, its back to silence. After the paperwork is finished, I go home and discover that there is a trigger lock on the gun. I primarily purchase from Academy and haven't encountered this before. I returned to the store and request that the manager remove it because I no longer want Robert's assistance. They inform me that there was a trigger lock key in the box. Well, Mr. Robert did not disclose this information, causing an inconvenience. Every other associate that I encountered today was pleasant and personable, which is why I opted for 3/5 versus 1/5 stars. Considering the nature of purchasing firearms, at the very least, good customer service should be a requirement. My transaction was awkward and painfully long because it felt like I was more of an inconvenience than a paying customer. I only came here because the gun was $30 cheaper than surrounding stores. It is not likely that I will return here to save $30. I would rather pay $30 more for a pleasant firearm purchasing experience. Also, there are 2 Roberts that work this store, as explained by the associate at the return counter. This man was heavy set, wore glasses, and had shorter hair; hopefully this review wont reflect on the...

Read moreDon't waste your time if you are looking for a gun or handgun ammunition. Every single time I have been to the first basspro beside I-40 and wanted to look at something I have had to go ask for someone to help me. The manager showed up at customer service and I explained what happens every time I walk in. He was not happy to see 5 employees behind the counter and a dozen customers not being waited on. I had him stop back and watch. After a few minutes I told him to watch and I walked up to the employees and said excuse me but can which is where I was cut off and they went back to laughing. Customers were just walking off. The manager offered to help me and I told him I would buy my needs else where. That was the past. This trip still had employees behind the counter talking amongst themselves and customers walking up standing for a few minutes and leaving. I stopped a employee and asked about what I was looking for and was told that he would check in a few minutes that he was busy. I watched and I saw nothing he was doing to be of any importance much less loosing a customer and sales. Any time I plan on buying from bass pro I go up town to the pyramid. I pick up Christmas gifts there the past few years and really haven't had issues. It seems that the people behind the counter at the east basspro want to run customers off. Everyone I talk to says the same thing and I know for a fact that many people including myself have complained to managment and nothing is or...
