Went here for the first time with a friend on 6-27-22 around 4:30 pm. When we walked in there were no customers. no one was out front to greet us so we picked a table and set down. The place appeared to be clean. We waited for about 10 minutes before someone even came out the kitchen to wait on us. There were two people standing waiting for to go orders and they must have been family because we had to ask if anyone was working here and one of them went into the kitchen to inform them that they had customers waiting. When she did come out there was no greeting. She just sat menus on table. She did ask my friend where was he from probably because he has an accent but she claimed she knew that I was from America but still no welcome. I placed my order from the menu and she stated "we don't have that" okay I chose another item. "we don't have that" so I had to ask what they had that was on the menu and she told me and I made my selection. she did not bring any utensils to the table. So we waited for our food and it took about 10- 15 minutes. She finally brought the food to the table with no fork or spoon to eat with. (I guess we were supposed to eat with our hands.) I had to wait until she came out the kitchen again to ask for something to eat with. she then brings me an unwrapped plastic fork. I don't know if the fork came from a box of forks or if it was used!!!!. Afterwards I asked her for another order of the spring wraps to go and she stated she could not give me another order because she has to save some for the call in orders. I am not even going to mention what happened with my friend's order. I will let him do his own review.... but when she told me I could not place another order to go I was done. My friend paid the bill and told her to keep the change so she got a really good tip for giving poor customer service. I did not have a problem with "my food" but the service was poor to say the least. There was no thank you please come again. NOTHING. It was as if she did not want us to be there I don't even know why my friend tipped her much less paid for his meal. I will not be returning to this place. It could be that they only cater to a certain "race" because the only people coming in and out of the place were Ethiopians who appeared to be family because they were going to the kitchen to say hello and sitting down to be served their meal. It was a...
Read moreI frequently travel to Ethiopia, so it's hard to compare what is served in a local restaurant with what you would get over there. That being said, I've been to a number of Ethiopian restaurants here in the U.S. and this one ranks up there with the better ones we've visited.
We usually either get the lamb or the beef tibs. Both are really good. There's something in the lamb that got me running for a glass of milk to cool off my tongue, but in general it wasn't too spicy. The potatoes and carrots are delicious, and my daughter really likes the lentil.
Of course, the true test of an Ethiopian restaurant is the injera. It's hard to make right in the U.S. because teff is rare. Some restaurants use flour as a substitute, which doesn't quite do it. Sheger's injera is pretty good, better than many others I've had.
Prices are reasonable and the owners are extremely friendly. It's definitely are go to for...
Read moreSo great to know that there is an Ethiopian restaurant 5 minutes close to my workplace that serves really great food at really great prices!
Not only did my doro wot order came with cottage cheese, which I miss dearly, my 16 oz tea was only $2, which is better than what a typical cafe would charge for hot beverages. Not to mention that the lentil sambosas had quite a satisfying, spicy kick to them, which is a surprise to me. For $18 total, not a bad price!
While the injera was a little dry, overall, I must say that I’m very fortunate enough to work very close to this restaurant and I look forward to coming back and trying more dishes.
Pray hope that covid19 would be over soon. I would be more than happy to witness a ceremony here one...
