Temperature checked and personal information taken. ID checked for my martini. Martini called "The Classic Monroe" was one of the best martinis I've had in a long time. Goose, dirty, stuffed BC olives. Perfect. Brie curds: fried served with blueberry ketchup which taste like ketchup with hint of blueberry. The curds themselves were awesome! Beer: Fulton Lonely Blonde, a local blonde ale, taste like Budweiser. No go. Switched to anchor steam from good old San Fran, can't go wrong with an old friend. Food: Reubens with chips. Housemate chips with great potential. The oil the chips were fried in was in need of changing, not worth sending back but you could tell it was a little stale and occasionally I would get a little taste of something, besides a potato, that was previously fried. The sandwich was delectable! The meet is slow roasted to perfection with very little to no fat, homemade 1000 island isn't over bearing with the taste of mayonnaise like so many are and the fennel kraut gives the sandwich a touch of sweetness tying the whole thing together. Luckily for this sandwich I ate the half I did first, the second half was not so good. Drenched with the homemade 1000 island you could really taste the mayonnaise and not much else, still a great sandwich but the reuben at Govenor Stumpys in KC is still #1. Dessert: Chocolate Old Fashioned, made with gin and very refreshing. Its served over and ice square with a sprinkle of dark chocolate. Absolutely delicious. Bathrooms: clean, however, there are 2 way mirrors which could potentially make things a little uncomfortable considering that the room next is the men's room. Over all this place is a must visit and the service was fantastic and personable.

Located on the corner across from The Dakota, The News Room is a convenient, upscale restaurant offering American food and casual dining. While the salads, sandwiches, kinds of pasta, and entrées are excellent, the appetizers are so good that I prefer ordering several and making it my meal. The appetizers are very sharable. Their Brie cheese curds are amazing, and the flatbread crust is awesome. True to their ship theme, the seafood is excellent. I highly recommend the ahi tuna and salmon. The ambiance is unique and a fun experience. We like how the menu refreshes each season, and the daily specials are a fun way to try new entrees. Clearly, the place is reminiscent of the building’s early newspaper days. This newspaper theme is carried throughout; it’s fascinating to take the time to read and observe. While it is a bit pricy, the décor and food are exceptional. It’s nice that they have separate menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They offer many unique beverages, and I’d say that anything that aligns with your flavors is well worth trying. Oddly, their website isn’t secure, and they still use Flash, so I typically skip seeing the menu ahead of time. The booths have high backs that make conversing a bit easier as the music can be loud. They do both dine-in and takeout but not deliveries. Parking is much like for any other business in downtown Minneapolis. Metered Street Parking is available. Bring a fresh newspaper to read (I still love the experience); you’ll feel right at home! Lovely outdoor patio seating during warmer months.

Stop! Turn around. It's not worth it. On a (heat warning) hot day; after a disappointing loss at the ball park, I decided to stop by, grab a beer and get something to eat. On walking in I was ignored by the host(?) at the entrance. Finally I ask the bartender if I could grab a booth. I expected a "Hello, it's hot out there (you're the only customer in here), can I grab you a glass of water or something else to drink." After a few minutes the bartender walks by and greets me (the only one out of the three on the floor that even acknowledge my existence), then takes my beer order the, Indeed Strawberry Fields. It was good but on a 95⁰ humid day after a four hour ball game, anything is good. I decided on the watermelon 🍉 salad, a nice choice on a hot day. A few minutes later the server who I had not seen until now just dumps it on the corner of the table (see photo). No confirmation on the order since didn't take the order. Doest place my meal in front of me, nothing, not a word. Just dump and run. When he dumped it on my table the salad almost slid off the plate. This $16 was a rip off. "Compressed watermelon", come on. A feta cheese portion that was so small I thought it was hiding. You're charging Las Vegas Strip prices for a salad that tasted like it was out of a bag (although with cómprësed watermelon). While I waited for my brie curds, my table position forced me to watch the host on their phone texting, or whatever for 30 minutes, then they disappeared. The Brie Curds came out and the were ok although not as I expected. To spend $36.90 plus 11.6% tax, or $41.20 for a beer, a salad and some cheese curds is disappointing. To be ignored in an empty restaurant is confusing. I've been all over the country in numerous cities in the last year. I've been to numerous restaurants and this once stands out, as if Jon Taffer or Gordon Ramsay are going to walk through the door at any minute. This is my first restaurant in this city. I sure hope there are better options. Two stars for an underwhelming, apathetic staff.

Food and service both terrible. Had reservation for 4 and called we be 10 min late. Great reply while on phone was okay. They were not full but upper half from wall forward was busy. Back half where we were seated not at the time. We seated, then a HUGE party of 18 people seated just next to us! We requested to move to opposite side to at least have one table between us and thus huge table but even then within 5 min they sat another huge party of over 10. Then waiter seemed annoyed by either the large party or us moving or color of patrons (was suspious as other waiter had that 1st large table and he seemed okay??). We had to flag him down twice and still had to get up for what we asked for or seek another person to get for us. We were not needy but due to not having server check on us we figured we better ask for all we needed at one time in case he ghosted us. Again we were only a table of four! ( we asked for straws, salad dressing and bread for salad, refill on soda) too much? I dont think so.... Were told the bread was $2 extra (wow okay) and told would be a wait as served hot. (Again okay. Think we could scrounge up 8 quarters and by this time we were use to waiting!). Our table was a table of 4 beautiful black professional women dressed to the 9's. We had a show across the way at The Dakota so with show tickets, meal, etc. one could guess we could afford bread? Food was bland to the point I had to ask for salt and pepper which I never do as I follow low sodium diet so if anything i usually think food is a tad salty when dining out. The Chicken sandwich my tablemate said was dry and also bland. I understand downtown business are hurting but dont take it out on those trying to keep downtown going!!! Otherwise I'll stick to the burbs!

I Googled this spot while staying at the Marquette hotel and walked there for dinner. It was the perfect night for a patio meal and I was having a solo Mom's night away. I was really looking for a good meal and experience. Right from the start the staff was attentive and personable. I had never been, clearly, and I wanted the experience so I was that lady. The "what do you recommend?" Lady. My server Dan took the question without pause and spitfired follow up questions to hone it in. Honestly, I think Dan was really understanding the vibe I was going for and suggested an incredible cocktail that I can't remember the name of, but was gin based. The entree Dan recommend was a watermelon marinated salad with salmon atop. Soooo good. The salmon, which I'm a stickler for was cooked perfectly. The salad had more pepper than expected but that was okay by me. If I could give one note to the chefs working last Saturday night, it's take the time to crumble that feta around the plate. It's a while different salad for the guest when you have to break the cheese apart and incorporate it. I'd go back again. In fact I will, and I'll probably ask for Dan.

If you're looking for a fantastic restaurant in downtown Minneapolis, then The News Room is definitely worth checking out. With both valet parking and a nearby parking garage, it's easy to get there and find a spot to park. Upon entering, you'll notice that the restaurant is impeccably clean, and the unique interior adds to the overall ambiance. Despite the spacious room, the noise level is impressively low due to the high ceilings. The service is excellent, with attentive staff always willing to answer any questions or concerns. The menu boasts a wide variety of options, ensuring there is something for everyone. The food - it's absolutely delicious. While the presentation may be typical, the flavors are anything but. And if you're looking for a good drink, the bar won't disappoint either. What's even better is that the prices are very reasonable, typically ranging from $15-20 per dish. And on top of that, the portion sizes are quite generous. Overall, The News Room is an excellent restaurant that's well worth a visit. With its fantastic food, attentive service, and reasonable prices, it's sure to leave you impressed.
