Went for hot pot tonight with a group of a few friends. All of the people we interacted with on the service side were lovely. Very helpful, answered all of our questions, and were very attentive.
On the food side, we went with the BBQ/Hotpot/all of the everything option. The grab it yourself strategy they employ generally works, unless more than one person decides to get up at once. Very narrow hallway where the fridges are stored, and often resulted in traffic jams with people trying to pick food while also going in different directions. Still, the convenience of being able to just get up and grab stuff is great. My one complaint on the drink side was not stocking any diet options - not a huge deal but some of us out here like the taste of aspartame.
The various sliced and rolled meats were decent quality, though I wouldn't recommend the black pepper beef from the cooler. It had a very weirdly soft texture even when fully cooked. My guess is that it was softened with baking soda, and then just sat for a long time. Perhaps some might like it, just not for me.
Veggies were fine, not the happiest I've seen, but still looked decent and tasted fine and had good texture.
We got the house pork bone broth, as well as the spicy beef tallow. Pork bone broth was better, but neither of them were super flavorful. The spicy one was just hot and salty, but not tons of character.
Anything involving "curry" flavor was wildly over seasoned. Think curry paste/seasoning with a side of actual food, not vice versa. Way too salty, even for our group member that will basically eat salt straight from the shaker. Again, flavor was fine, quantity was just excessive. This was unfortunately basically everything under the BBQ option (that we ordered at least) so the value of that is questionable in my book.
Overall, had a good time, and if I go back I wouldn't order anything curry flavored, and would instead focus on the rolled meats...
Read moreMy experience: I normally like to leave a good review but unfortunately this is not the case. This was my first time here visiting from out of town and I’d have to say that I was very disappointed in their service. I’ve asked the waitress twice for ice for my water and she didn’t get me ice until I asked again. I was also disappointed to hear that my 18 month old baby was going to be charged $10 just to dine in and eat until I had to let the waitress he’s not going to eat. My boyfriend ordered fried chicken wings, assuming it would come in 6-8 pieces since it was $12 for the wings. But when the order came out, there were only small 4 wings! We were shock at how expensive the wings were!!! The menu should’ve let it’s customers know that for the fried chicken wings it only comes in 4. We’ve expressed to the waitress how it did not let customers know on the menu that for 4 wings it was going to be $12. She just said sorry and brushed it off, then walks away to the bar and sit down and was on her phone.
The food: The pork broth was not bad. Not really a fan of the Tom Yum broth. Something in that soup was overpowering the broth. Furthermore, the selections of meat is very little and most of them had nothing but fats. The bbq on the stick tasted horrible. I felt like I was eating cumin by itself. It had a strong smell and after taste to it.
Everything was pricey. We were being charged literally for everything, from the all you can eat, to the soup base to making the dipping sauce. I’ve had other hot pots and it’s ridiculous to see that this place charges every little thing and it’s overpriced than most other hot pots I’ve been to.
I do not believe I will come back for. Manager needs to retrain their servers and the menu needs to be a little more specific when customers order certain items...
Read moreI looked at others' reviews to see if I was the only one, and it turned out I wasn't. Pros: My waiter was really helpful when we first got seated. He asked if it was our first time. We said yes, it was our first time here at this place, but we had had pot hot before, and the one across the street. After letting him know, he did a quick rundown of what they had and where to get the food and make our sauce. - He seems to be a college student since he look like he's in his early 20s. The music that was put on was great and the inside looked great too.
Cons: After we finished ordering on the iPad with our waiter and he told us where to get the meat, we couldn't find him afterward. Our waiter was never around, and in the end, when we planned to pay, he wasn't the one helping us anymore. It was an older guy who was picking up the trays we put at the side of the table to be picked up. Now, split pay was so hard to do in this area, and I didn't have a great experience when it came to tipping. The older guy didn't let us see the receipt. Not only that, but when I tipped him, he wasn't satisfied with what I tipped, so he said I needed to tip him more. Tipping is an action of gratitude. The meat didn't taste as fresh as other the Legendary Spice place I had, and the broth here was tasteless. When the broth came out, we were excited to taste it since we picked the same spice as the other time we chose at the other Legendary Spice. However, it was a disappointment since both of the spices were stateless. We had to add more salt to the spice. It wasn't a big deal since it was easy to deal with, but we wished it had been tasteful instead...
