The Cajun House — Restaurant in Minneapolis

Awesome! Got together with the family here on a saturday afternoon. It was quiet, servers were friendly and understanding as we spent way too long talking when we were supposed to be figuring out our order. We ended up trying the calamari, beef on a stick, softshell crab sandwich, shrimp sandwich, and boiled crawfish.

Everything came out perfect. I was especially impressed with the calamari, which came out perfectly tender. Like every single piece. Not a single rubber band in either basket (we ordered two so everyone could share). For the calamari lovers out there, you know that's unusual. The beef was tender and flavorful. The softshell crab was cooked perfectly - nice and crunchy breading with buttery-soft steamy goodness inside. The shrimp were as expected - small breaded/fried shrimp. Not trying to disparage the shrimp, it's just hard to get excited about breaded/fried shrimp after eating them so many times. But again, they were cooked perfectly so that the outside was crisp and the inside was tender. No rubber shrimps here!

Of course the real star of the show was the crawfish. Some of them were truly massive, like mini lobsters. The louisiana dry rub seasoning was hot and flavorful. Exactly what I was looking for. Absolutely perfect flavor. If you like spicy seafood, get something cooked with their louisiana dry rub! They came in a big bucket along with a bib and gloves - a nice touch.

If you're in the mood for cajun and in the neighborhood of the U of M campus, this place is well worth checking out. Don't forget to try the bubble tea while you're there. The coconut...

TERRIBLE BEYOND TERRIBLE SERVICE. I am not usually one to leave bad reviews, but wow, I'm baffled at the abhorred and unprofessional level of service here.

My friends and I (group of 12) got to the restaurant a little after 6pm. We did not get our food until near 7:30pm. We waited so long that several of our friends ended up canceling their orders and left. When they did finally bring out the food, they brought out one bucket at a time every 10-15 minutes.

They did not get our orders straight, they brought out random buckets of food and just asked - "who got 1lb crawfish, etc....?" - Well, everyone did! It was clear we were being cheated on the weight of the order and they were weighing the giant corn and potatoes in their 'pound' calculation.

Checking out also took forever and was a mess. We went up to pay our bill and told them what we all got and had them cross it off as it was paid. Afterwards, when we were ready to leave, the server stopped us to tell us we didn't pay for everything. It is now 9:30pm and we are arguing over the bill with the restaurant owner, server and chef. The three are at our table accusing us of not paying for two pounds of food when everyone paid for their orders already. They refused to let us leave until they can recross-check every receipt with the original order, which was messed up to begin with.

I'm sorry but how unprofessional is that?! We just coughed up several hundreds of dollar and sat patiently through the poor service and they are going to heckle us over TWO pounds of crawfish (worth maybe $30) that we said we...

PLEASE READ! THE PLACE DOESN'T EVEN DESERVE A STAR! Came out to try something new for Mother's Day and when we arrived, they placed us in a secluded area while not serving us at all. We watched as they served everyone and as everyone's food came and go but not ours. However, we stayed patient. I think the waitress thought being "rude" was smart but it reaooy wasn't, it ruined our experience there. As we ordered we noticed that the place was very unsanitary, the glove boxes all had sauce over it all and the water was filled with dust etc. When the wauter brought the food his hands were covered in the sauce due to what we ordered but he did not even wear gloves! The food did not taste as one would have liked it to have tasted. As we ate we noticed the special combo we ordered had a rotten stench that wasn't the sauce and inspected, just to find out they served us a rotten crab, not just one but multiple. Then our drinks arrived as we were almost done eating! However, these reasons were only for part of the review, the main thing is that I woke up at 4AM and noticed something just didn't sit right in my stomach, feeling nauseus I went back and forth from the bathroom 3 times, all 3 times I threw up!
