Update March 2023: Pros: Still the same as noted before (except I hate how they aren't consistent with turning off the music after hours in the lobby - which they promised previously. The lobby isn't study-friendly when there's pop music that tenants can't turn off or completely shut out with noise-canceling earphones.) My rent issue got fixed since my last post. Assuming it's thanks to the new manager Melissa?
Cons Things still malfunction often. The coffee machine still fails me at least half the time, although the front door seems to work a little better. The trash room gets really dirty sometimes, especially over the weekend I'm noticing some lower temperatures at times even with my shower head extender. Rent prices. I'm moving out this summer because their new rent makes it impossible for PhD students to afford even a micro-studio on a regular stipend. I might've considered living here another year otherwise since the location is really nice.
Update from 1 to 3 stars since my rent issue got fixed.
December 2022 ================================== Pros: Location is great Never had packages stolen Staff members (except the previous manager Willie) are friendly The amenities (lobby, fitness room, sky deck, bike storage, etc) are all really nice
Cons: This is my second year here and they charged me the wrong (higher) rent AGAIN. Had to talk to Willie (and eventually his supervisor) to get the issue resolved last year, but that was really stressful. I can't believe this is happening again. I don't know whatever system they're using to keep track but it sucks. Things keep breaking, like the front door and coffee machine. 70% of the time, you need to press the button to get the door to open (you can't just push it, which is annoying when you're in a hurry). The trash room gets really dirty sometimes, especially over the weekend I used to have shower temperatures issues. I bought a shower head extender and a new shower head and that resolved the problem, but I didn't think I'd have to do that at a "luxury apartment".
A one-star might be too harsh, but the issues they have are so basic (charging wrong rent, front doors that often don't open when you push them, low shower temperature in Minnesota - I was so miserable last winter), that they kinda cancel...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRecently saw Trish's update and IT IS ALL TRUE (regarding the outrageous move-out fees). I cleaned on my hands & knees (with witnesses/photos) for days prior to moving out in July and was charged $275 for painting ($200) and cleaning ($75). No pictures of proof were included in the email.
I have disputed the charges, which they claim in their move out emails can only be done via email and guess what: Same as Trish, no response from the management team. It has been over 2 weeks and I don't have the luxury of going in person. I'm appalled at the treatment of Trish, who had the right to go in person. Again, they state no move-out charge concerns can be discussed over the phone, but only via email.
They never once noted ANYTHING of concern during their "quarterly inspections" that caused me to ever believe I would be charged once I left my clean apartment that I also lived in for 2 years.
Live elsewhere--- even the worse review student apartments in the Prospect Park Area have better management than HERE. MN/CA Ventures.
Original Review: The office staff, sans CAs as it's not their fault, lack basic knowledge of the leasing industry and leases. Quite disheartening to see in a place that markets itself to students, grad students, and working professionals. Do better, learn how to do your job (even if this is a temporary stepping stone in your career), and please wear a mask- We're still in a global pandemic.
Amenities are decent (quality is going down quickly and apartment is only 2 years old), but that's in part due to the residents/maintenance/cleaning staff keeping the spaces well-kept (most of the time).
The current property manager W.H. is passive aggressive, confrontational, abrasive and doesn't conduct proper unit inspections, but will charge for "repairs/damage/Normal wear & tear," that could've been addressed prior to residents' moving out --- had proper unit inspections been conductes. Office staff and current maintenance also fail to follow up on mentioned/verbal maintenance concerns and require lots of follow-up from residents. (p.s. note how he has left a 5-star review for this property [7/26], which by Google Review standards, is a conflict of interest UPDATE: it has since been deleted).
Please live elsewhere-- negative reviews speak...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMoved in 4 months ago and my experience has been very good so far!
Pros: Right next to the light rail and a Fresh Thyme, and just a few minutes walk to the University, the location is pretty hard to beat. Shout out to Michael Ryan (Mickey) who helped me settle in extremely quickly. Coming to a new place I was clueless about simple things like adjusting the thermostat or using the washer dryer and Mickey ail how to run everything properly. Heās always available (even outside of business hours) when I run into any problems, helped fix my dishwasher quickly the same day I ran into a problem. Other members of the team in Zain and Gabby have also been very helpful for both me and especially my mom with packages and moving in queries. I donāt know the details of the old management (which other reviews go into more detail about), but my experience with the new management has been very good so far (but thatās just me).
Other residents were quiet and friendly as well. Management would give us a heads up if there was a storm or an unusual event. No problems with Amazon deliveries or mail. Basically has all amenities- the Gym is amazing and so is the club room- only thing that I say it lacks is a swimming pool.
Cons: In terms of cons, one small problem Iāve experienced is that the water during showers (even when turned all the way) is not quite hot enough for me- it is enough to get by, but I would greatly appreciate if it could be warmer. The other thing is itās really difficult to get an indoor parking spot- waitlist is more than 6 months! If they addressed these it would be 5 stars for me. The rent is high but honestly similar to nearby apartments in the same locality so thatās understandable.
Overall loving my time here and have applied for a renewal already for...
