3.5 stars It was pretty fun. The good: it was popular and active for a Saturday afternoon. You get two throwing lanes so it was easy to take turns. They had openings for drop-ins (no reservation). The one person on staff was nice but so busy. We were there to mostly work on our form to be consistent, so it worked out fine. They have snacks foods and canned drink options. The bad: The boards were a little jacked. Some of the board join seams were so beat up that some throws didn't stick. I guessed that they must have had a busy day and didn't change them out. They didn't really have great food or drink options. Eat before you go there. The layout seems a little cramped but I'm sure they did the best they could in that space. You gotta pay for parking, which can get spendy downtown.

EDIT: my partner and I frequently visited Bad Axe because it was fun but also because we loved the coaches. I found out our favorite coach was fired, and the other coach is going to be no longer working there. I figure if management is going to fire their best employee, then I also won't be going back either. Really disappointing. we popped in for a friends birthday trip downtown and we had such a fun time! I didn’t think I’d be the type of person to enjoy it so much but it was an awesome experience. our coach Mason was knowledgeable and friendly and made us feel comfortable right away. the atmosphere was really relaxed and cool and we’ll definitely be going back again sometime soon.

We came here after a Twins game. It was lots of fun! The place is huge and somewhat hidden in the City Center building. Staff provides a safety briefing and training before you start. There are 3 different axes available to throw. They also had a great selection of drinks plus pizza, grilled cheese, and other ballpark-like snacks. Pricing was higher than the places in Stillwater and MOA. (About $70 for 2 people.) They offer a student discount in person. Military discount is only available if you book online. If you're downtown and interested in active fun, it's convenient and worth it. If you PARK in the City Center Ramp, Bad Axe will provide a parking voucher!

We had a blast at Bad Axe Throwing! My family met my husband and I in Minneapolis for a weekend getaway. Our hotel happened to be across the street from Bad Axe and we decided on a whim to try it. And boy, are we glad we did! None of us had thrown axes before, but it was wicked easy to learn. Our instructor (didn't catch their name, but they were working this past Saturday, 9/17) was friendly and knowledgeable, and the quick introductory lesson was clear and concise. And the instructor seemed genuinely interested in helping us do well and wanted us to have a good time. We had a GREAT time; it was so much fun! We wanted to go back on Sunday afternoon, but unfortunately plans didn't allow for it. If we ever visit Minneapolis again, you better believe Bad Axe Throwing will be on...
