We had reservations here for my bachelorette party this past Friday night. The reservations were made well in advance so plenty of time to prepare. The place has a neat atmosphere, great location. The rooftop is very cool, however our table was less then ideal. We were packed so tightly into our table with others around it that I was not even able to get out to use the restroom without having another diner at a different table stand up, push his chair in and let me pass. Very inconvenient. It was also VERY loud. You could barely converse with the person across the table from you it was so loud. Our server was not attentive at all. She took our drink order, brought that to us, and took our food order. That was it. Our food was brought out by runners, and no one checked on us after that. The server didn't ask how our food was, or see if we needed more drinks or wanted dessert. We would have stayed and had another round there had we even been given the chance but I think most at the table were not even asked if they wanted another drink. She simply brought the check after someone else cleared our plates. Did not ask how things were or anything. I usually am fairly sympathetic to servers as I worked as a server for over 5 years, however in this case because we had a large group gratuity was already calculated in and therefore it is a bit frustrating that our service was so poor, and yet she still gets a fairly good tip out of the deal. I hope our built in gratuity was shared with those filling our water and clearing our plates as they provided much friendlier and attentive service. My guess is that the server already knew she had built in tip and chose to be more attentive with other tables instead of us, her mistake as many of us used to be servers and we usually tip quite a bit more as we know how hard the job can be. We would have gladly tipped a lot above the built in gratuity had she actually earned it. The food was good, nothing amazing. I honestly would probably not return especially with a larger group as the experience was really...
Read moreMyself alongside my friend Diana had purchased tickets for the Usher Drag Brunch hosted inside of the Union Rooftop earlier this morning.
I am writing to express my outrage and disappointment with the way that we were treated and disrespected by the management and service staff at the Union Rooftop.
Essentially, what occurred is me & my party were sat well into the beginning of the event, with a couple of open seats next to us.
We had already placed entree orders, received our champagne bottles at the table, and the show was well on its way when a server begrudgingly approaches us and informs us that we were going to be forced to move because a party of six had unexpectantly arrived and they needed our seats to accommodate them.
They then proceed to move us to the very back of the restaurant, to a much smaller table, that even had a chip in it.
When I spoke to the manager about it, a short, heavyset, Hispanic woman who's name started with an "M". She proceeded to argue with me, and was not at all helpful. When I tried to explain my sentiments she laughed in my face when I pointed out her lack of empathy, scoffed, and then said "YOU CAN TALK TO FLIPHONE" and then stormed off.
I have NEVER been so disrespected before in my life. I run restaurants for Nordstrom's hospitality division and I know what proper customer service, hospitality, and accommodations look like and in this regard Union failed at ALL marks.
The above mentioned manager has no place working in hospitality based off her behavior.
I am demanding a complete refund for the seats as Diana and I ended up leaving following the staff & manager's atrocious behavior.
Keep in mind, when I requested to speak to a manager downstairs, she was too much of a coward to approach me directly and instead sent a volunteer unrelated to Union or Flipphone to apologize on her behalf.
I want a call back from Union, a full refund for our seats, and an apology from Union management.
If I not hear back promptly I will be in communication personally with Union after this upcoming...
Read moreMy partner and I made reservations here before a show last night. We started by ordering an appetizer and two drinks. The appetizer came out quickly and was delivered by another staff. However, we were still waiting for our drinks. We waited 25 minutes before our server came back to our table. He had forgotten our drinks. When he came back the second time, my partner asked him a question about the menu. He told us he’d go ask the chef and be right back. We waited another 15 minutes before he came back. Mind you, I saw him helping multiple tables during that time and never saw him go to the kitchen to ask the chef. When he finally came back to our table, he asked us if we needed anything, clearly forgetting we were waiting on him to get an answer from the kitchen. We put in our dinner orders and I asked for another drink knowing it would take a while to get it. We waited another 35 minutes without any drinks or the server checking in on us. Finally someone who looked like the manager came out to bring us our food and I asked him for my drink since clearly the server had forgotten. The manager was back in less than a minute with my drink. Our food was terrible. I asked for my burger medium well and it came back rare. My partner ordered nachos with shredded chicken and the chicken was so hard and dry it resembled the chips. We then waited another 10/15 minutes before our server came and we asked for the bill and asked him to please rush because we were about to be late for our show. We went there 2 hours before the show thinking we’d have more than enough time and we were cutting it close to showtime getting out of there and we barely received any service. The atmosphere was also not the nicest, as it was loud and felt dirty. We were on the main level. I saw other patrons quickly leaving after they arrived and I would have to imagine it was due to the service. I would...
