Customer service was horrible, and it was like that before we even got there. Please keep in mind the Ocean Plaza Motel and the Polynesian are essentially the same thing. Please avoid this place at all costs.
-Called when we got into town to see if we could check in early and was told to call back in an hour -Called in an hour and I pretty much had to beat an answer out of the receptionist. Room was ready. -Went to check in and before I could get the whole sentence out I was interrupted and was very rudely told "Check in isnt until 4!" Had to explain in depth that I literally just talked with her less than 10 minutes ago. -Was notified prior to arrival there was a mandatory $100 deposit for anyone under 21. (We are both over 21) Had to pay $200 for a deposit because apparently that had been moved up to 25. -We get to the room and there is a layer of dust and sand all over everything. Bedding had stains on it. Floors were covered with debris including TOENAILS. Room looked like it was constructed overnight. -For 3 days we requested room service (there were no cleaning supplies of any sort in the room). First day after check in, no one even came in. Second day, we had towels placed on our counter and nothing else. I called after we came back from the beach and I was assured someone would be right up to sweep because they didn't have a vacuum I could use. Called again 2 hours later and the receptionist was going to "follow up". Never heard back. After dinner we still did not receive any service so I went to the front desk to see if I could get a broom or vacuum and was told there were none on the property and she didn't know why anyone would tell me that someone would be up. Third day, we put sticky notes on the room service sign requesting a sweep of the floor. I came up from the beach to go to the bathroom and I noticed that room service had already been there and NOTHING was cleaned. I walked down the hall and asked the cleaning lady for her vacuum because I couldn't stand walking barefoot in the room and having things stuck to the bottom of my feet. I get the vacuum and it catches fire halfway through...so I go and get the broom to try and get atleast the toenails off the carpet. From there on we went out and bought surface cleaning wipes so atleast the surfaces were clean.
Side note: They spend roughly an hour in every room they go into but nothing is done besides them taking the old towells and putting in new ones. What are they actually doing in there?
-One of the days I had locked my keys in the car. Went inside to see if I could get a coat hanger. Before I could even get the question out the receptionist started shaking her head and said they had nothing that I could use. I walked to another hotel and got a coat hanger from the Super 8 I believe.
Keep in mind there are 3 different women who work the front desk and all had a piss poor attitude and couldn't even lift a finger to do anything for you. If you hate your job that much please quit and move to a non customer service based position.
-The day before we left, I went down to make sure someone will be there to return my deposit because we were leaving at midnight. I was told there would be someone there but I couldn't get my deposit because no one has the safe code and my deposit needed to be refunded in the same manner in which it was received (cash). They said it would be mailed out to me on Sunday. I go back down later on the make sure I don't have to do anything special or different due to the time of our departure. Was told no.
-Went to checkout at midnight. There was no one there so I slipped the keys through the locked front office. I called the sister hotel and talked to Nick. He said he would come over and grab the keys because they would likely charge me for the keys as if they were lost because they didn't physically receive them. Nick from the Polynesian is the only person that offered me any service.
I will happily pay twice the amount to be somewhere else next time...

The room was not ready until after 4:00 pm. As soon as we checked in and received our keys, room 603 we quickly changed and went to the beach. ||Later on (approximately 8:00 pm) we returned to the room where we found that the plumbing above us was leaking from the ceiling into our bathroom and there was a very foul odor. We called the desk and a maintenance worker came: he caulked around the base of our stool (it was loose and rocking - wax ring seal was surely compromised). Then he went upstairs and later returned saying that the tenants above had merely splashed water on the floor.||Unfortunately this leaking occurred more than just the one time . . . I would recommend checking the plumbing for leaks. ||Also, I noticed that the tub in our room has a crack in the base that might result in leaks to the room below.||Also, housekeeping came with a can of spray scent to attempt to cover up the obnoxiuos smell. We refused as this would not stop the smell but add to the overall unpleasant odors.
