I recently stayed at this motel for the first time, and it will definitely be the last time. When checking into the motel, it took about 10 minutes which wasn’t that bad. When I first walked into the motel room, it definitely wasn’t bad. It a had a mini kitchen right at the front door with counters, cabinets, a really big fridge (for a motel room), a microwave, and even some pots, pans, and silverware. The bathroom was also pretty good. It was the kind of bathroom with the sink, counter space, toilet, and shower all in one room compared to there being a tiny room with just a toilet and shower. One thing I noticed was that on the last night I stayed here, there was water dripping from the ceiling above the shower. It was a lot of water, but that shouldn’t be happening in the first place. The beds were pretty comfy and I didn’t notice any stains or bugs. The tv was not the best (it was staticky) and the sliding glass door that leads to the balcony was VERY difficult to open (the door almost fell off when I first tried to open it. I also noticed that in the front desk area of the motel, there was a $150 fine for smoking in the motel rooms, balcony, or in any common areas. What was confusing was that the motel hallways spelled like marijuana and there were cigarette burns on the shower curtain. Another problem was the ice machine. Don’t expect to get ice from this hotel because when I tried to go get some for my cooler, there was no ice being made and I was standing there waiting for at least 30 minutes. One last thing to mention was the pool. The pool didn’t look the cleanest and it said it closed at 10 pm. However, when I was trying to go to sleep around 11:30 pm, I could hear kids screaming and playing in the pool and no one came to tell them it was closed. Overall, this motel, to me, was decent but I don’t think I’ll be staying here again. Ps. Sorry I could only include one picture in this review, I forgot to take more before I left.

BEWARE BED BUGS ROOM 705!!!! We stayed on September 19-21in room 705 and checked out early due to bed bugs crawling on the beds and pillows not to mention the roaches. I get the whole "you get what you pay for" but BED BUGS are absolutely unacceptable. The front staff was very unprofessional an acted as if it wasn't a big deal and just tried to move me rooms. Which I immediately declined and moved motels for the rest of my stay at Myrtal Beach. I wanted to speak to a manager but there was no manager on site or any contact infotmation. I had to go get a business card at the motel next door who I didnt get a responce until 4 days later with a apology procedure email that seemed so sandard. I took lots of pictures and a video of the issues and sent to all management as well as posting on the reviews. I have requested a copy of the pest control report that I have yet to receive 11 days later. Which makes me wonder if they did anything to prevent this terrible experience from happening to me or anyone else. We were threatened to be escorted by police if we told any guest of the of the BED BUG problem. I have email upper management multiple times and still 11 days later I have not received any form of communication from them. This just goes to show that they are not concerned with the rooms being infested with bed bugs or the wellbeing and satisfaction of their guest. I'm very disappointed and extremely unpleased with the service at Ocean Plaza. Ocean Plaza robbed me of what should have been a relaing and stress-free vacation. It was a nightmare. The most stressful, awful, disguting stay in a motel ever. If you must stay here be very diligent and check everything in the room and take all precautions to not take any with you. BED BUGS are unsanitary and ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!

For my first time being on vacation with my highschool sweetheart, we definitely loved it! Lol it has perks to be finally legal in every way ahaha! We planned our day accordingly due to arriving @5 am Sunday and check in was 4 PM we scored a great parking spot right under the ocean plaza deck (2nd floor) and we were able to nap there without feeling too hot after we got back from beach and breakfast during our wait to check in! We got in line @4 pm and didn’t get the keys till 5 pm.. but that’s fine because I took the time to organize our belongings we rushed to put I the car on our drive to Myrtle beach! The room we got was on the 3rd floor and it was awesome! The beds were super soft and omg the pillows were even softer!!! We slept like babies! The experience was amazing. The prices were great for an ocean front room with 2 beds! I was familiar with the hotel due to coming here a couple years back with family but now it’s refreshed in my memory again and it’s better than I remember! Oh and I’m a heavy ice lover and their ice machines produced GREAT ice, they were soft and small enough to chew and enjoy, I absolutely loved it!! Oh and don’t forget you have to go to their sister hotel to check in @ “The Polynesian” but then again you get the bang to your buck !

Customer service was horrible, and it was like that before we even got there. Please keep in mind the Ocean Plaza Motel and the Polynesian are essentially the same thing. Please avoid this place at all costs.

-Called when we got into town to see if we could check in early and was told to call back in an hour -Called in an hour and I pretty much had to beat an answer out of the receptionist. Room was ready. -Went to check in and before I could get the whole sentence out I was interrupted and was very rudely told "Check in isnt until 4!" Had to explain in depth that I literally just talked with her less than 10 minutes ago. -Was notified prior to arrival there was a mandatory $100 deposit for anyone under 21. (We are both over 21) Had to pay $200 for a deposit because apparently that had been moved up to 25. -We get to the room and there is a layer of dust and sand all over everything. Bedding had stains on it. Floors were covered with debris including TOENAILS. Room looked like it was constructed overnight. -For 3 days we requested room service (there were no cleaning supplies of any sort in the room). First day after check in, no one even came in. Second day, we had towels placed on our counter and nothing else. I called after we came back from the beach and I was assured someone would be right up to sweep because they didn't have a vacuum I could use. Called again 2 hours later and the receptionist was going to "follow up". Never heard back. After dinner we still did not receive any service so I went to the front desk to see if I could get a broom or vacuum and was told there were none on the property and she didn't know why anyone would tell me that someone would be up. Third day, we put sticky notes on the room service sign requesting a sweep of the floor. I came up from the beach to go to the bathroom and I noticed that room service had already been there and NOTHING was cleaned. I walked down the hall and asked the cleaning lady for her vacuum because I couldn't stand walking barefoot in the room and having things stuck to the bottom of my feet. I get the vacuum and it catches fire halfway through...so I go and get the broom to try and get atleast the toenails off the carpet. From there on we went out and bought surface cleaning wipes so atleast the surfaces were clean.

Side note: They spend roughly an hour in every room they go into but nothing is done besides them taking the old towells and putting in new ones. What are they actually doing in there?

-One of the days I had locked my keys in the car. Went inside to see if I could get a coat hanger. Before I could even get the question out the receptionist started shaking her head and said they had nothing that I could use. I walked to another hotel and got a coat hanger from the Super 8 I believe.

Keep in mind there are 3 different women who work the front desk and all had a piss poor attitude and couldn't even lift a finger to do anything for you. If you hate your job that much please quit and move to a non customer service based position.

-The day before we left, I went down to make sure someone will be there to return my deposit because we were leaving at midnight. I was told there would be someone there but I couldn't get my deposit because no one has the safe code and my deposit needed to be refunded in the same manner in which it was received (cash). They said it would be mailed out to me on Sunday. I go back down later on the make sure I don't have to do anything special or different due to the time of our departure. Was told no.

-Went to checkout at midnight. There was no one there so I slipped the keys through the locked front office. I called the sister hotel and talked to Nick. He said he would come over and grab the keys because they would likely charge me for the keys as if they were lost because they didn't physically receive them. Nick from the Polynesian is the only person that offered me any service.

I will happily pay twice the amount to be somewhere else next time...

To whom it may concern:||My wife and I booked a four night stay with hopes of enjoying ourselves at your facility and the beach at Myrtle Beach. ||We arrived Saturday June 15th 2024. The room was not ready until after 4:00 pm. As soon as we checked in and received our keys, room 603 we quickly changed and went to the beach. ||Later on (approximately 8:00 pm) we returned to the room where we found that the plumbing above us was leaking from the ceiling into our bathroom and there was a very foul odor. We called the desk and a maintenance worker came: he caulked around the base of our stool (it was loose and rocking - wax ring seal was surely compromised). Then he went upstairs and later returned saying that the tenants above had merely splashed water on the floor.||Unfortunately this leaking occurred more than just the one time . . . I would recommend checking the plumbing for leaks. ||Also, I noticed that the tub in our room has a crack in the base that might result in leaks to the room below.||Also, housekeeping came with a can of spray scent to attempt to cover up the obnoxiuos smell. We refused as this would not stop the smell but add to the overall unpleasant odors. Both my wife and I suffer from allergies and could not stand to have this done. ||The room does not have sufficient electrical outlets as I must use a CPAP and my wife has to use a fan = we could not find enough outlets. I asked for an extension cord and never received one. ||There was no table or luggage rack on which to place our luggage. Only one chair. ||The carpeting is filthy and now so are my socks.||The curtains do not block the exterior light.||The neighbors stood outside our a/c unit smoking and the smoke was drawn into our room.||The television is not operating correctly as it gets loud then soft intermittantly throughout all shows and even the commercials.||This location is poor as the area is apparently a party zone: loud music, noisy people, loud cars, etc.||The freezer in the refrigerator is iced over and should be defrosted.||There are no amenities to speak of: no coffee, cups, pool towels, anything that we are accustomed to in normal hotel / motel stays.||This stay was so bad that we had to cancel the last three nights and go elsewhere.||My opinion is that this place is overpriced for the offering, I feel misled by the staff member who I called and made the reservation with on the phone, etc.||I would have canceled the first night after we realized that the situation was so bad but was told that there was no refund available, it was too late to try and find another place to spend that night, and frankly, we were very tired.||I don't really want to complete the survey on line because I don't want to run the place down - but I don't feel that I could give it a very good rating as I have nothing good to say.||Initially I was charged a $168.27 Deposit and then I was refunded $7.89 for a net charge of $160.38. I was told that there would be a military discount upon proof of service (I assume that was the refund). Unfortunately we are very unhappy with our stay at your facility and appeal to you to inspect / review your facility for defects and repair and improve them.|| Dan M.| |P.S.
