CAUTION This situation is literally over 14$ Owners response is very telling! We experienced being gaslit and blackmailed Read the negative reviews!!!
This sushi joint used to be our go to for SABA MACKERAL, when vacationing but they have started treating customers differently. Maybe because the busy season is dwindling, maybe it's the staff or poor training. I dont know why they made us feel so uncomfortable.
I went in for a simple order of mackeral and the waiter got the order wrong he kept saying that i ordered some fish that sounded like taco? Me and my husband clarified our choice option and the staff then proceeded to try and force us to "please eat it, because if not i (the waiter) will have to pay it". That is blackmail which is ridiculous. So i didnt get what i came for and i got to eat forcefully while feeling super anxious and uncomfortable. This place likes to act upscale, I have been to all sorts of sushi restaurants, and BELIEVE ME getting something wrong in any order is not unheard of. The common business practice in general is to rectify the situation. Its sushi with 'strange names' and staff are usually not properly trained, IT WASNT A BIG DEAL until the blackmail happened, with a lovely sprinkling of gaslighting. Do not keep accusing the customer. That is childish and bad business practice. Don't gaslight your customers. So unprofessional.
This place is sadly a trap, and we will be avoiding at all costs in the future. Be prepared to pay for their mistakes or record your order before telling them.
UPDATE What your saying further validates every negative review and mine as well. PLEASE post your video proving me SAYING the wrong thing! I even pointed at what i wanted, cause i DO get it. Also, were you the one that ran past us to sit us, too rushed to even say hello, wednesday? There was only 1 table and a guy at the bar but you seemed bothered by our presence. Hopefully it's not cause we look different. How low can you go? I'm 'lying' but you are literally making stuff up without showing proof, enough hiding. I have my receipt I paid and we kept ourselves civil.
You had ample time to come speak to us at the table while we waited for your solution. Which was to hide and send your poorly trained waiter to make us feel bad, for 14$ that we still paid and left feeling very uncomfortable. We did not give anyone a bad time, except you guys towards us, PAYING CUSTOMERS. There is no way for you to build such a poorly constructed narrative. I can definitely go by to discuss the 14 dollars I PAID, THAT YOU are fighting over. THAT is sadly the point, people reading this. BEWARE. Poor...
Read moreUpdate - 7/9 - we forgot they add gratuity to the bill. Double-tipped again! The waiter should advise diners when presenting the bill. We are good tippers; but our total tip ended up being over 40%! Will still go again but will definitely check the bill next time. Also, no wine or sake menu. Waiter did not know sake selections.
Update 6/6 - Happy Hour on Locals Tuesday (T & Th 50% off locals). Always good! The rainbow roll is my favorite. Update - they no longer offer the 30% off wine and sake Wed & Fri! Sake is a bit pricey so can't wait to try at discounted price. Bartender JB is very efficient and friendly!
Update 4/1 - best late night dining in the area, is open to 11pm and a waiter said kitchen will be open till midnight before May 2023! We had a post theater dinner, arriving at 10pm and had sushi and an exceptional light dinner and a few cocktails. The lemon drop martini is yummy! Tip: order the lo mein as a side. These were lightly seasoned and delicious noodles, best Asian noodles ever.
Update 3/21/23 - Happy Hour is 5pm-8pm. Beer bottles $3.50, well house liquor drinks $3, wine $4. Shannon is a great bartender, very attentive! Plus, they have at the bar at happy hour a selection of discounted appetizers. We had bang-bang shrimp, tuna tataki, salmon carpaccio, California roll, crab Rangoon. Presentation was lovely. The bang bang and tatski were the stand outs, we ordered 2 of each! Locals days are Tues & Thurs. Half price on select sushi rolls, the fancier ones, which run about $6.50 to $9.50 at half price.
The restaurant has authentic sushi chefs. The interior decor is very well-done, stylish but serene. Love the vibe here!
We will be returning to celebrate a birthday. Can't wait to try the dinner menu. This restaurant is a gem.
First Review: Had the salmon bento box lunch special, as take-out. We were very pleased with the quality and the variety of vegetables in their hibachi. The salmon was good, hibachi rice tasted fresh. Good, but not my favorites were the crab Rangoon fried dumplings-would have preferred any other type of dumpling--and 4-pieces of California roll (was much better my recent trip, not so creamy)--was made with the creamy crab stick mix. Also, came with a nice side salad. See pics. Will return for...
Read moreThis is our first and last time eating here. The service was great and my only reason for not rating this 1 star. The food was subpar for the price, we’ve had great sushi before and this did not even place in the top 10. My husbands Ribeye was well done when he asked it to be medium rare but the real issue came when I received the chicken pad Thai I ordered. As soon as it was placed in front of me I could smell it. I have had many Pad Thais and none of them smelled like road kill. This one did. I decided to give it a taste despite the smell, the taste was immediately off to me, as if the chicken had gone bad. I asked the server to return it and she was more than accommodating but in a few minutes came back letting me know that their policy was no food returns. She has been informed that that is just the taste of their pad Thai. I don’t understand why a restaurant would not be accommodating to their guest, specially when I clearly did not eat the meal. The smell was so bad it killed my appetite. The server boxed it up for me but I left it because I had no interest in eating that. I ended up paying for a plate I did not eat ($18) so if you decide to try this place out, steer clear of their pad Thai and know that if there is something you did not like, you’ll still end up...
