The one star is for the fact that it is located right on the beach and the view from the room is good. This resort is REALLY old, and very badly in need of updates asap! When I read the reviews, I was thinking, "it can't be THAT bad, right?"...WRONG! All I can say is save yourself the time and frustration and spend the money on a nicely maintained airbnb or other reputable vacay rental. So... Where do I begin??? We got to our room and I was just really disappointed at the lack of wow factor. It was so old and cruddy, I just wanted to cry. It looked like something from the 70's... That hadn't been cleaned since the 70's. I was going to try and look on the bright side, which was a pretty nice view from the balcony (because the windows were so cloudy and needed to be replaced)... So make lemonade right? WRONG again! The TV in the bedroom was the size of a tablet screen... And the last straw was that the tub was FILTHY... Still had DIRT and HAIR in the bottom!!! I was sick to my stomach. We reported the issues and were put in a unit that was not much better except that the tv monitor in the bedroom was at least standard size, the dirt in the tub wasn't visible to the naked eye, and the windows weren't cloudy... The furniture and fixtures were still super old. I'm talking about like the first couch and loveseat your GRANDPARENTS ever purchased-kind of old. It looked dirty and dusty... But all we're really going to do is sleep and shower here, right? Well let's talk about the bed... It was a mattress on top of another mattress and box spring because I guess the owners don't wantt people sleeping on their personal mattress???? Ok, but later that night when we went to bed, I noticed that under the cheap 200 thread count sheet, the mattress was bare... There was no mattress pad! AND THE MATTRESS HAD ALL KINDS OF STAINS ON IT! Housekeeping was of course gone for the day... So the next morning, they brought towels and took the garbage. I let the housekeeper know about the missing mattress pad and I was told they'd bring one... But THAT NEVER HAPPENED! Guess what else didn't happen? FRESH TOWELS for the REMAINDER OF OUR STAY! Out of FIVE DAYS, we only got fresh towels and trash removal the morning after we checked in. And despite repeated requests to have cleaning, fresh towels and maintenance to repair the handle to the dishwasher lever that came off during the first use, we never got anything we requested, although we were told these things would be taken care of right away. Our resort fees of $100 didn't cover any essentials that one would commonly expect during a RESORT stay. I mean FRESH TOWELS??? And we were only able to use the pool and hot tub once because you have to use the towels in your room for the pool. No fresh towels, no pool. Going to the front desk didn't help because we were told EACH DAY that they had not been replenished and THEY too were waiting for towels. Oh, and the sauna, was out of order until the last day of our stay. I would not recommend anyone who works hard and looks forward to a vacation as a means of being able to relax and be stress/worry free to stay HERE. This is not a place where you can be carefree. You can't even walk barefoot on the floors of your unit without your feet being black on the bottoms. I was truly disappointed. The staff was polite about their inability to make up for the inadequate accommodations. But when I asked for some of my resort fees back, I was told that since Bluegreen arranged the stay, I would have to request any refunds through them-although they are the ones who took payment for my resort fees when I checked in. Moral of the story, I'll never do business with Bluegreen again and I wouldn't stay at the palace again even if it was free. This was a $450 lesson for my fiancee and I. Never again. Don't look for the deal.Just spend the money and go for quality. In the end, the peace of mind that comes with a worry free vacation...
Read moreI did an ""express deal" on priceline for the labor day weekend, and got this "hotel". I put that in quotes because it is important to note that each room is owned by an individual/realtor, so is not a conventional hotel. This was not stated on priceline. After I got the express deal and knew where I was going, I started looking at the reviews, and was horrified! I contacted priceline to back out, and they would not let me. I also sent an email to this hotel. I had to stick with it. So, off I go for a Labor Day getaway, a large distance away, worried about the place I was staying. Turns out, it was top notch excellent. They gave me room 2205, a studio to die for! The view was absolutely spectacular. I just sat there shocked for quite awhile. It took me awhile to realize that the owl I was seeing on the top of the building not 50 feet from me was fake and there to scare off the birds. I could see very, very far off to the east into the sea. I could see, looking straight down, thousands of people on the beach and into the ocean. The room was modern, intelligently designed, artful without being gaudy. It would be difficult to find anything better. Whoever owns this particular room has taken great care of it. Decor is outstanding, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, full kitchen with utensils and everything works (it saved me bundles of money because there is a Walmart grocery around the corner on 17 S Ocean). In the middle of night, I did not even have to turn a light on in the bathroom, because as I walked in, low intensity lights buried in the walls automatically came on. The elevators work just fine. It does get a bit crowded coming down, but there is nothing wrong with the elevators. Free, very convenient parking. Just turn in on the north side, turn toward the ocean, go forward maybe 50 meters, turn right into the 1st level of the parking garage park in an unloading spot, go in get your room, then park your car on one of the 5 levels. Always could find a spot, even though it was a busy weekend. Very easy out too! The hotel is right on the beach. My view from 2205 was looking south, straight down was one of the pools, and pretty much the start of the beach! You literally just walk out of the hotel and you are on the beach. The pools were great. I swam in both, they are maintained, and nice. It was crowded, but I never felt crowded. Staff at the desk were very good, quick. I used the cleaning service only one day, and they came in and did a very quick and efficient job, just like a hotel. They did not clean my used utensils or plates or cooking utensils, no big deal because there was a small bottle of dishwashing liquid and it seems only fair that I clean them since I used them to save money on eating out. Close drive to everything. All I can say was my experience was top notch. It seems the ratings are either very good, or very bad, and that makes sense to me now because I know that each room is separately owned, so it depends very much on who owns it. What I got was top notch, maybe because I emailed before I went expressing my concern over the reviews I had seen. I feel so much better after being there. I spent 3 days in the ocean and in the pools! Bottom line:If I got the same room for the same price, I'd go for sure. Even a...
Read morePoor customer service from the manger Courtney and another associate I booked a stay at the hotel for 1 night only this past Sunday to Monday. When I arrived they never greeted me at check in, she was very blunt and asked if I can hand her my ID and the credit card I used for booking. I provided her that information , she then placed a paper on the counter and said oh we need your license plate and to sign with out even making eye contact. I looked at my guest and asked if she can run outside for me. Remind you I already paid for my room in full and asked the call center rep if I would have a deposit she said no you are all sit since i paid in full. she looked up and said you need to pay a $100.00 deposit I told her no because of the call I had when booking the manger Courtney said well I can pull the calls but you will have to pay to check in. I just looked and asked what type of payment do they take the black girl at the front desk said with an attitude cash or card, I gave my cash deposit. Asked to speak with Courtney supervisor since I was upset over being miss told, Courtney stated that Ebony was the supervisor and was not able to tell me when she was going to return. I asked if I can go ahead and go up, she stated she did not have any room available until pm and it was 2: 50 at that time I stated I understand. I asked for my wrist bands since we were told by call center if room was not ready we had full access to the hotel and pool. She informed me and my guest no wrist bans were not going to be given out, we went outside for a few since room was not ready and garbed a drink the lady in the window of the drink place outside the pool asked for a wrist band before purchases could be made which ticked me off, i told her what the front desk said and she said okay and made the drinks. I went back to my car called the call center filed a compliant and was told someone would call me back in 30 mins to a 1hr here it is 48hrs later and no call back. I am so dissatisfied with the customer service the attitude given to me by the two reps up front as well and no call back when stated. Before checking out I and another women was talking who stated that she was not going to stay at this hotel again because of how she was treated at check in and what she was told by the call center which was a different story like mine at check in. I left out way before check out and got my deposit back. I will never stay at this hotel again and the crazy thing is the rep asked what i looked for in a great hotel and my first answer was customer and no mess at check in and this is what happened. If the hotel is reading this please listen to all three calls from me especially Tom who was great. Anyone that comes into town make sure you get a copy of your agreement to your e-mail and if you don't receive one call back, because I never receive the notice of my booking at all or deposit information which i was told i did not have to pay on the call. I hope the hotel talks to staff about customer service and even though you had a ruff morning with other people do not pass that energy off to the next customer. I work for the state hospital in NC in the customer service department and never have I every had such...
