Update The head of security finally reviewed the footage from this incident 4 days later and advised that someone checked in and did not speak English so they were escorted to their room. They are claiming that it was another guest that came into my room at 3am. There was no explanation as to why an incident report wasn't made by the front desk when the incident took place or why the security guard pretended to lock the door the first time they arrived. When asked for the clip of the video to prove that it was a guest I was told to contact corporate. Well corporate will not answer the phone or return any calls.
Original Review.
I want to first start off by saying I have stayed at Paradise resort and their sister hotels at least 5 times. Every time I have stayed with the exception of this last time has been good. They have areas to improve in just like other hotels but overall I had a good time each time.
After this last stay I will not be staying at Paradise or their sister hotels because Friday night at 3AM an employee with the hotel went into the room next to me and decided to let themselves in through the adjoining door that they had to unlock with their master key. Luckily, I heard the main door shut when they walked into the room, so I was somewhat awake thinking that someone was checking into the room next door. But I was very surprised when the next thing I know I am being blinded by someone coming into my room from the adjoining door.
When I screamed for my Fiancé, the employee then left the room without saying a word. I called the front desk and as soon as I called, they immediately advised someone checked in to that room and maintenance would come up to lock the door. Well maintenance did show up and then PRETENDED to lock the door. Once he left my fiancé then went to check to make sure the door was locked and sure enough it opened right up. Once the door was opened it was very noticeable that no one checked into this room. Maintenance came a second time with attitude and locked the door this time.
Then Saturday early afternoon after we returned to the room the front desk called asking for the alleged person in the room next to us. When they were advised that they had the wrong room they instantly knew which room they had called and said they were trying to call the room next to us. Well, this call was not intended for the next room because after we hung up the phone next door never rang.
We have since learned that no one created an incident report or reported any of this to the manager.
I don’t know what this employee’s exact intentions were, but I can assure you that they were not good. This is a very scary and traumatizing event that happened, and Paradise has done nothing but basically shrug it off. My questions are why was this employee in the room next door to begin with at 3AM, why did they unlock the adjoining door, why did they not say sorry when they realized they went into a room where someone was, why is the hotel acting like this isn’t a big deal and lastly what were the employee’s true intentions.
There is no telling what could have happened if I had not woken up or I was...
Read moreWe initially were very excited about visiting the Parasdise Resort in Myrtle Beach. Upon check in, after I questioned the young lady (whom most likely was new on the job) I noticed I was charged an excess and when questioning her on it whether it was an authorization for incidentals or not, proceeded to tell me everything was correct. After she confirmed it wasn't for incidentals I simply assumed based on my original reservation everything was correct and to be honest was quite tired after a long drive to be bothered with it. Well come to find out they actually charged my card an excess of nearly 90 bucks more and when I went back to the main lobby, she asked me to prove I had paperwork showing my original reservation in order to refund me. Never apologized for the mishap of course and sent me on my way. Then later that night come bed time we immediately were summoned to the fact of how paper thin the walls in this place were and for the fact you literally could hear every word your next door neighbor is saying as they both fought and argued on one side and partied on the other side til the wee hours of the morning. Not a smart idea to have your bedroom back up to your neighbors living room in a hotel who charges 200 bucks per nite and has no barriers between walls. To make matters worse after not sleeping all night and for the fact we had to be up early for a baseball tournament, we go for breakfast only to find out that it was never included in my reservation which I specifically requested when I booked and the woman running the Cafe tells me we need vouchers which they should have given us at check in and then let's me.know I have to pay for my children's breakfast as they sat with their team under time constraints. I certainly wasn't going to argue at a time like this but man could anything else possibly go wrong at this lovely place. Funny enough when I approached the same woman at check in whom overcharged me initially, and ask her why breakfast wasn't included in my package , she doubles down and tells me I never optioned for it and now it's a he said she said story dating back to my original booking. This was her moment as a manager to say, "Hey I know you're not happy and having a not so good experience here, so you know what I'll take care of the breakfast for you tommorow." Nope just cold and uncaring about the situation amd sends me on my way. Needless to say, horrible experience all the way around, bad business with zero southern hospitality and I'll never be back to this "resort". And location wise? It's Myrtle Beach. It's common once the sun sets and darkness takes over to see junkies, dealers and strange characters roaming the streets as I went for my morning jog so definitely not exactly my type.of ideal place to bring my family with 2 young boys. Just awfully expensive to have deal with this type of nonsense all the way around at a...
Read moreMy wife and I checked in on Tuesday evening 6/18/2024. We decided to visit Myrtle Beach for our 30th wedding anniversary. This was a last minute decision and I chose Paradise Resort. After check-in, we parked our vehicle and walked inside the resort. We immediately noticed the area was not clean near the elevator and some of the tiles on the wall were missing. The inside corridor looked old at the resort. When we arrived at our room #304, I attempted to turn one of the living room lamps on and the bulb blew. I called the front desk to report this. I was advised they, would try and have someone from maintenance come up and replace it, but they never showed up. My wife and I eventually went out on the ocean front balcony to take in the ocean. We noticed the white rocking chairs we not clean and needed painting, as some of the paint was missing on different parts of the chair. While we were sitting on the balcony, a cockroach scurried across the concrete floor and quickly disappeared. My wife and I then decided the Paradise Resort was not the place where we wanted stay for our 30th anniversary. I called the front desk and asked the representative if we decided to check out the following morning would we be refunded for the second day that we paid for in advance? She said, yes. On Wednesday morning we checked out at 10 AM. The representative at the front desk said, I would receive the refund to my card, but her manager who was out of the office at the time, would have to issue the refund. Today, is Thursday, 6/20 and I have called the Paradise Resort to confirm if the refund has been issued to my card? And I was told the manager Janice is out of the office. I am beginning to feel as if there is no sense of urgency with this process. However, I will continue to follow up with the staff until they confirm the refund has been issued to my card. I shouldn't have to do any of this, but unfortunately that's what I have to do. So Disappointed.
Update: I recently received a call from the manager Janet at the Paradise Resort. She called to inform me that the credit had been refunded to my credit card. I confirmed the refund has posted to my CC account. Janet was very...
