The gift shop itself is jampacked with cute things to purchase. There’s a wide selection of tea, and a variety of bonbons. My deduction of points, though lean towards my experience in the tea room.
The tea room itself really does not live up to the pictures that have been posted. There’s almost a diner-esque feeling which is absolutely fine for the right scenario, but was not what I had imagined. There is almost a dingy sense, and not at all one of high elevated tea. I had in my mind that I wanted to order the too shebang high tea ($33/pp). I ordered the royal wedding tea, as well as the traditional English scone… everything else was a set menu.
The plate I was brought for my food was a completely different motif and color scheme than the tea cup and tea plate that was originally at the table. It wasn’t even a matter of them being similar but different, but being drastically different.
The presentation of the finger sandwiches/scone/desserts was pretty, but the metal stand was starting to peel it’s gold paint. To the point that some fell onto my scone plate. Regardless of the paint falling off, the simple detail of allowing a metal display that needed painting to be used was a huge bummer and took away from the feeling of high tea.
The finger sandwiches were good, I was surprised how much I enjoyed the cucumbers and the ham. The egg salad was bland, as was the chicken salad. The English scone was nice and warm, and I especially enjoyed it with the strawberry preserves. The desserts were good, but nothing outstanding. A nice, thick, chocolate ganache like brownie (maybe not a brownie, but dont recall what exactly the tea room called it) and a sugar vanilla square.
The real highlight was the flavor of the Royal wedding team. It was a very nice balance of fruity flavors that weren’t true dessert, like, or overwhelmed any of the food I was eating.
As I went to check out, the gentleman asked how my visit was. I responded that it was ‘okay’ and our conversation...

The Good: Overall the atmosphere is a fun place to gather friends Location is great although parking is a problem. There scone was okay.
The not great: When you’re paying for atmosphere, details matter. They somehow thought that the restroom should be inside of the only dining room rather than put the register with the bathroom and have tables where the register is. Shoddy design choice and kind of a gross decision. -this is pre bagged tea, not loose leaf and most likely celestial seasonings. To add insult to injury, they didn’t make the decision to time their tea so it gets bitter after the first cup. -they didn’t bother to match sets/cups. -some of the food wasn’t good. If I knew they didn’t have a kitchen staff, I wouldn’t have expected anything of the egg salad sandwich or chicken salad sandwich. Nobody ever checked to see whether we even liked it. The food was left behind-they did not even question it. After our order was taken, we were not checked on once. There wasn’t any apology or effort after we had to track down somebody for water. Then they failed to bring a check after another 30 minute...
Read moreIncredibly quaint with an excellent menu. The only real English 'High Tea' experience I've had was at The Ritz in London in 1998, so it's been a while, but the experience stuck with me. Thus is an incredibly close experience. The sandwich plates are great for a lunch, for too much food for an afternoon tea time. But the egg salad sandwich and the honey turkey sandwich were both excellent. The side salads were great. They also came with what seemed to be Ruffles chips. I could have done without them, but my 10 year old was happy. The sale dressing is unique, almost a creamy Italian with a more subtle flavor, and was perfect for the fresh side salad.
The table is set with a full place setting, including dessert fork and bread knife.
Their tea menu includes abput 30 teas, all of which are available to purchase in the connected gift area. I had the Buccaneer, which was strong on chocolate flavors, and walked out with sachets of that and the peach brandy tea.
This just felt like a quaint, English B&B with all kinds of affordable meal options. Our waitress was excellent, coming as needed and giving us a lot of space to just sit and sip.
I can't wait to bring the rest of the...
