My husband and I are long time regulars, frequenting Veranda E even during the unpopular hot rainy summers because they only have outdoor dining. We are the kind of customers that tip more than 20%, order the $18 salads, $20 calamari, $50 entrees plus dessert. The previous GM, Marcos always welcomed us with a smile and made us feel like valued guests. For the last two years, the GM Tommy always looks unshowered and is downright rude! Since we only ever see him as we arrive or leave it was easy enough to ignore. We brought our friends there last night and wanted our favorite Austin Hope wine, but they were out of it so we brought our own two bottles fully expecting to be charged a reasonable corkage fee. When the bill arrived there was a $35 corkage for the first bottle and $50 for the second. One of our friends did order a glass of white wine, so we certainly spent a generous amount. My husband questioned the $50 corkage fee and politely asked our server if he might talk to Tommy about it. Tommy never came to our table. Instead the server returned and said the corkage fees are clearly stated on the menu and that is their policy, period. We will not be going back unless we hear that Marcos or another competent GM is there to run the show. If our business was appreciated the second corkage fee would have been waived or adjusted considering we only brought our own because they did not have any Austin Hope in stock. $35 and $50 was excessive and the lack of respect to not even come...
Read more1)I called the day before to inquire about champagne then inquired about my reservation which I made two weeks in advance, they were not able to locate it, they had to confer with management to see what could be done. Mind you this is an anniversary party of 8. A. call back half an hour later they found the issue was my reservation time was 545 not 6pm...How I wonder if you put my name and number in for the reservation and it doesn’t appear is beyond me
3)My food was placed at the table 1st appetizer was the shrimp & grits the shrimp had a slight ammonia smell which means not fresh. 2nd entree pork chop... when it was placed in front of me I was wondering what this horrible smell was and when I sliced into my pork chop it was evident this foul and I mean FOUL smell was my food!!!! I actually had two other guests smell it how horrific to serve something that is not fresh thank goodness I did not eat it 4) I had a replacement dish served right away short ribs they were not the best very fatty The food exchange happened quickly which makes you wonder if this happens often. 5) my husband threw up his dinner when he got home
The place itself is a beautiful setting and we paid over $1000 dollars for the view not the food this is not the first time coming here but it will be my last too many other places that could use the business and...
Read more3 stars for the atmosphere and that’s it. Booked a reservation at 5:00 for the ‘social hour.’ After calling and confirming twice, they didn’t have our reservation. Showed the host my confirmation email as I wanted to ensure we did indeed make reservations. They accommodated us by placing us at a nice table by the pool, but commented negatively about bringing our 10 lb dog and how their guests don’t like dogs. You either let dogs in your outside restaurant area or you don’t. I’m fine either way and would never assume to bring my dog, I had called earlier that day to CONFIRM they accept dogs for their outside area - they confirmed they did. Their social hour wine was good. Their food....mediocre and ridiculously overpriced which is expected from most places in Naples. The thing that bothered me the MOST though....our server, after already ordering drinks and food and being there for maybe 20 minutes, told us we needed to hurry up and order anything else we wanted because it was going to get busy with dinner reservations and she couldn’t take our order!?! Mind you, nobody was in the dining area at this point!! Good for a drink to impress your bougie friends in town and...
