Below is a letter sent to the GM of the Hotel to make him aware of the situation. I wanted them to have feedback of my concerns and poor stay. I decided to share this only after I received no call, email or message left to contact me to discuss. I would certainly caution anyone staying here that concerns will be met with silence. Mr. Eric Pyae Oo; General Manager Comfort Inn Manhattan Midtown West 548 West 48th Street New York, NY 10036
Dear Mr. Pyae Oo;
This email is related to my recent overnight stay at your property on Saturday night February 24th, 2024 in Room# *. At about 12:50am I was awakened from a sound sleep with screaming and door slamming from the next Room# *. The occupants decided to celebrate and have a room party to celebrate a friends birthday. I could clearly hear them with the yelling and drunkenness that was coming from at least 5-6 people in the room. She apologized and said she would check on it and address the issue. At 1:35am I placed a second call as the noise was still ongoing with people screaming, laughing and carrying on that is not appropriate at that hour. I let her know that it has not stopped and was preventing me from experiencing a proper nights sleep and that something needed to be done to address the issue. She advised me that really she was the only person at the hotel and well it is a weekend and that type of thing does happen more so on the weekends. The front desk person said I will call the room again and give them a stronger warning. The noise continued until about 1:55am when they all went into the hallway, slammed the room door loud enough it shook the wall. They waited in the hallway for the elevator and continued to yell and use profanities and carry on until the elevator took them downstairs. So at that point I figured this is great they are finally gone and I can get some much needed rest. Suddenly at 3:25am the noise in the hallway is back with yelling and the door to Room# * opens and slams shut. The yelling and carrying on lasted until right around 4:00am at which point the people went to their other rooms and things settled down. I did not call this time as nothing seemed to be really done with the last two calls. I was told to take my issue up with the manager on checkout in the morning. My real issue here is the failure of the night desk person to address concerns that were legitimately being made by a paying guest. Perhaps the person in charge at the front desk was not trained on the protocol for handling such an issue? Perhaps this may have resulted to contact an on call manager to address the issue with the offending guest? Perhaps the night person could have offered a change in room to alleviate the issue for the guest experiencing the problem? The issue that I have is that nothing was done and it left me with the feeling that my concerns were not addressed. In closing, when I checked out I brought this up to the gentleman at the front desk. All he did was say oh I am very sorry. When I asked if I could speak with a manager he stated no one was working. I did ask him to pass along my dissatisfaction with things to the General Manager. I asked him how he could be contacted at which point he gave me your card with the email. Did you ever get my message and concerns? I utilize Choice Hotels as my primary choice in places to stay. I stay away from home and at Choice Hotels at least 92 nights in a year and this has to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had specifically because the issue was not dealt with properly. It truly has caused me to perhaps consider other options when myself or my colleagues need to stay in Manhattan. I truly hope that you use my experience to really address these types of situations. In the end, I was unable to have breakfast and only got about 3...
Read moreDodger vs. Yankees with Pantone 294. Our stay here at this location was GREAT!!! The location is not far from the Port Authority Bus Terminal -we walked with our rolling suitcases. The hotel is only two blocks from Pier 84 and the Intrepid Carrier Museum. And a 15 min. walk to Times Square. However, we couldn't actually check in at 9am, but we were able to drop off our luggage and backpacks with Roslynn and Fatima. Roslynn suggested 'Mom's Kitchen & Bar' for breakfast/lunch. And they both helped us with directions to the nearest subway station and Yankee Stadium, Uptown, Midtown, and Downtown. Our room......Yes, the room was on the small side with no closet and/or drawer space, so our clothes stood in our suitcases and sweaters and jerseys hung on the 6 hook hanger rack. However, the room/bed was very comfortable for us two. Our room did come with bathroom amenities such as shampoo & conditioner, bar and hand soap, shower cap, Kleenex and a hair dryer. The room also had a coffee/tea maker, desk & chair, iron & ironing board, a microwave, fridge, and FREE breakfast! The room was very well lit including the lights above the bed. They were perfect for reading the Broadway flyers to figure out what musical to see. However, I do wish that there was a sheer curtain in or out of the black-out pull down shade. Only because we had to have it down while we were changing and it darkened the room and blocked out our view. We had breakfast each morning of our stay there at the hotel. Although the breakfast is the same each day, it was pretty good......or I was just hungry. But Roslynn and/or May always made sure the food items were fully stocked to accommodate their guests. Guests had several different options to mix up their breakfast each day with a variety of cereals, breads, bagels, yogurts, fruit, eggs, tater tots, sausages, waffles, coffee, tea, milk, juice, and lemon water. Keep in mind that the lobby is a bit small with limited tables and chairs, but don't be afraid to ask others if they can share their table with you. If the breakfast area has nothing to your liking, then you can purchase various snacks from the shelf in the lobby. (Coffee and water is always FREE and available 24/7). The staff was FANTASTIC!!! Roslynn, Fatima, May, and Rehana (Guest Services Specialist). They all were very helpful, friendly, and always asked how our room/sleep was and/or how our day/night went. We would definitely be...
Read moreI see that my review of 8/13/05 (almost 17 years ago!) is no longer visible so I am reposting it to prevent future victims from falling prey to this uncomfortable, dirty so-called hotel with highly incompetent staff. This is what I posted in 2005: Three of us women arrived at the hotel very late from the airport and were told we did not have a reservation for 3, but for 2, and we would get 2 twin beds. So where does the 3rd person sleep? After going back and forth and tempers rising, they came up with a rollaway bed. The room was quite small and the addition of a rollaway bed further impeded movement in the room. The tiny bathroom has no a/c, it does have a window. The room carpeting is old and dingy and wrinkled in several spots. The wallpaper needs replacing. The hotel has the nerve to state somewhere online that it's been recently remodeled. Recently? More like in the 1980's!
When we spoke to the manager on duty (Bernardo) the following morning about the lodging situation, he was nasty, rude and curt. We wanted a credit for at least one night's lodging due to the uncomfortable situation in which his incompetent staff placed us, he refused. Where did their satisfaction guaranteed policy go all of a sudden? The free breakfast was the worst we've ever had at any Comfort Inn, sparse, only one juice selection, the room was very dark, the fruits were gone by 9 a.m., the bananas which remained were all bruised and mushy. Then the icemaker broke and for at least 1.5 days we had no ice. I asked if they were going to bring in bags of ice and place them where guests could have access. Outside temps that week were in the high 80's to low 90's. Instead, they placed a very small refrigerator in our room (we did not ask for this) without ice cube trays. If my complaint was about the lack of ice, why no ice cube trays? That's the type of non-service one gets at this hotel. I could not get the wireless internet connection in the room to work properly so I never used it even though I should have due to my business. I have never encountered this problem at other NYC Comfort Inns. They will never...
