Hotel location was good. There were nearby convenience store and diner. It's near to one of NYPD centre so there's lots of NYPD presence that makes you feel safer. It's a 10-15mins walk to Times Square, Port Authority where the metro subways are. I'd recommend using a shared airport shuttle (USD44/pax) to the hotel if you have large bags.||||We booked the standard double room that has 2 double beds which can fit 4 people but it would probably be crowded. Since there was only 2 of us, each of us got a double bed which was great. Room has a medium sized fridge, microwave but no kettle or coffee maker. Drinking glasses was provided but no cups. Luckily we brought our own instant coffee & hot choc which we made in the microwave using recycled starbucks paper cups. Hotel doesn't have breakfast but there's a diner just next door or you can heat up breakfast in the microwave. Wifi is payable at USD6/day.||||Room was dated but clean, bed was comfy and bathroom was a bit narrow but we were ok with it cause water pressure and hot water were good. We didn't see any air-condition but since it's winter we didn't mind. The heater works find although noisy if it's fan was switched on. We just left the heater on with fan off when we slept.||||Check-in was easy, and hotel staff were helpful and friendly. They even provided recommendations for places to eat and helped us with arrangement for the shared airport shuttle to pick us up at the hotel. Since our return flight was at night, we stored our bags at the hotel and came back later to collect our bags and take the airport shuttle.||||All in all it's a good place for a short stay in...

Read moreThe Travel Inn was a good home base for our 4-day New York family trip. My husband and I usually prefer to stay away from the touristy areas; however, on this first trip to the City with our two younger sons, ages 10 and 12, we wanted to stay closer to the attractions in Times Square. It was a few blocks from there, and a bit closer than that from the closest metro station. Not bad!
The hotel room was very outdated and not spotless, but it was neat and clean enough. All the employees we talked to, both in the hotel and parking garage, were very nice and helpful. Speaking of the garage, it is located just outside the hotel and is seriously THE BEST PARKING RATE IN THE CITY. We paid $20 a day for parking, when we usually pay $40 or more a day. Plus, we got to drive our car into the garage and store our luggage in there, as well, after checkout (instead of checking our bags at the front desk). We didn't use the pool (too much to do in the City!), but it looked very nice from our hotel room.
Negatives: the TV remote didn't work (we should have asked for batteries?) + we only had three towels for four people (and had to ask for another set) + it's very close to the bus station
Overall, the hotel is a very good deal for its location, parking, and atmosphere. I would stay here again...but unfortunately one of the desk clerks told us they were planning to close in December because a new high-rise was going to be built there....
