I'm writing this Ito inform everyone out there about my experience with Dr. Yael Halaas and the office of YH Science and Beauty. I have never written and posted a bad review so believe me, it takes a lot for me to do this but I feel it is necessary. I've been in the medical field in Senior Leadership Administration for over 30+ years. I deal with doctors on every level from a clinical aspect to daily operations. Trust me when I say that there is nothing that gets passed me until now. Ratings aren't everything. I've seen doctors who have been let go for horrendous things from their position and from the hospital and still have great ratings. Ratings can be bought. I'm not saying that is a fact in this case but in my opinion, I am very suspect. Please keep in mind that I'm sure Dr. Halaas' office will reply to this review with denial and excuses but I truly gave them every opportunity to explain and resolve this issue before deciding to do this. It's sad when it becomes all about the money and less about the patient. For me, I went to see Dr. Halaas for an eyebrow hair transplant and inquired about a brow lift. After my first treatment I was told to wait for more than 6 months to allow the process to heal. I was also told that I had nothing to worry about because if I wasn't happy with the results they would go back in and do another transplant at no charge. I trusted that when I was told "If you are not satisfied we will go back and do more transplants." I was nervous as this was a very expensive treatment but I trusted what I was being told. I waited somewhere between 6 months to a year and one side was drastically less full than the other and humiliating in appearance. After going back and forth and getting every excuse in the book to why it looked like that. None of which made any sense. I finally made another appointment When I did finally go back in for the second transplant the office tried to charge me again!! They realized the mistake but only after I had to remind them about the guarantee I was given and after being pressured to pay and made to feel very uncomfortable. However this time they didn't implant nearly as much hair as the initial procedure and therefore it will never be as full as the other brow. While there, the doctor remembered I had been interested in a brow lift and saw Dollar Signs. I was told about a new in office treatment called Sofwave. I was apprehensive as it was a newish treatment and very expensive. Dr. Halaas insisted it was perfect for me and explained that the typical cost was $5000 but the office was giving a discount at $3000. If I wanted to do the treatment right then after the implant was complete they would offer an additional discount and the charge for me would be $2500. Not only did the Doctor guarantee the results of this treatment but the office coordinator came in to discuss payment and also guaranteed the results or my money back. I questioned the doctor if it was safe to do this immediately after receiving the implant and I was told the laser would not affect the transplant. I think you can probably see where this is going...I had 3 painful rounds of the Sofwave Laser treatment. There were no post op photos taken at my final visit and there was no progress. Each time I questioned the office about this I was told to wait. This went on for months getting excuse after excuse. I sent email after email to the office. I was asked to send pictures, which I did. I was asked to do a video visit, which I did. I was told to wait, which I did. What I didn't do was receive a refund. I called and emailed regarding the guarantee I was given and instead the office just stopped responding. They did not stand by their word or their work. They were simply arrogant and dismissive. All I wanted was a refund so I could see another doctor to correct the issue, now I feel I should take them to court for a full refund. No one should have to accept...
Read moreI came here for laser hair removal after seeing glowing reviews, and paid $3,000 for six sessions of full-arm laser—nearly ten times the industry standard. I was willing to pay a premium for what I assumed would be professional, high-quality care. Instead, I walked away with permanent-looking skin damage, a complete lack of urgency, and a front desk team that treats clients like an inconvenience.
After just one session, I developed Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH)—confirmed by one of the leading dermatologists in NYC. When I reached out to the clinic, it took 48 hours for anyone to respond, and when they did, I was met with gaslighting explanations ranging from mosquito bites to allergies. Let me be clear: PIH is preventable when the right laser settings are used for your skin type. I was clearly misclassified on the Fitzpatrick scale, which is a basic standard for safe treatment.
Since then, I’ve been sent home with various creams that have caused burning, peeling, and irritation—with no visible improvement. It’s been over a month, and the damage to my skin is still visible, with no meaningful resolution in sight.
The reception staff is consistently rude, and every single appointment starts with a 30–45 minute wait—no explanation, no urgency, just complete disregard for the client’s time.
The only person who has shown any real empathy is Jonathan, and I genuinely appreciate his help. But one kind staff member doesn’t make up for a business model built on overcharging and underdelivering.
There has been no offer of a refund for a treatment that not only failed but actively harmed my skin. If you’re considering laser hair removal, go somewhere that knows what they’re doing—and actually values patient safety.
In response to the dismissive and borderline gaslighting reply I received: let me be clear. There was no consultation. The waiver was scrolled to the bottom for me to sign with zero discussion of risks, aftercare, or whether I was even a suitable candidate.
I’ve had these marks for two months now — the treatment compromised my skin barrier, and instead of appropriate care, I was wrongly prescribed Cosmelan shortly afterward, which made things significantly worse.
This clinic is not only negligent but dangerously careless. I strongly urge anyone considering treatment here...
Read moreI had a Natura Peel procedure at the Dr Yales Clinic in NYC with Medical Aesthetician Evelyn Feliciano. I chose this treatment because I was looking for a solution to improve my skin texture, reduce enlarged pores, and control oiliness. I have combination skin, and after talking to Evelyn, we decided that the Natural Peel would be the best option.
Procedure Details:
The Natura Peel is a treatment that uses a carbon-based cream and a specific laser to deeply exfoliate the skin. The procedure began with cleansing the skin, followed by the application of a thin layer of an activated carbon mask. The mask was left on for about 10 minutes to penetrate the pores.
Afterwards, Evelyn used a laser to activate the carbon. The laser causes a slight heating sensation and small popping sensations, but nothing painful. The entire process took about 40 minutes and was performed in a very comfortable and hygienic environment.
Personal Experience:
During the procedure, I only felt a slight sensation of heat, but it was quite tolerable. Evelyn explained each step, which made me feel safe and at ease. The clinic is well-equipped and the staff was very attentive. After the procedure, my skin had a slight redness, which disappeared within a few hours.
Results:
Right after the Natura Peel, I noticed that my skin was softer and had a natural glow. In the following days, I noticed a significant reduction in oiliness and my pores seemed less visible. My skin became more even and had a smoother texture. The results continued to improve over the following weeks, especially with the use of sunscreen and following the post-procedure care recommendations provided by the clinic.
I am very pleased with the results of the Natura Peel and recommend it to anyone looking for more radiant and healthy skin. The procedure was quick, practically painless, and the results are visible after the first session. The cost is justified by the quality of the service and the results obtained. My rating for the procedure is 10/10, and I plan to continue with regular sessions to maintain...
