The Terrace and Outdoor Gardens at the Times Square EDITION — Restaurant in New York

Edition hotel is know for their impeccable hospitality standards and this restaurant being a part of it had to be special. We visited the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. They have an indoor dining section and a outdoor terrace section. The indoor side is more elegant and fine dining esque while the terrace has an absolutely gorgeous tropical kind of vibe to it. You wouldn’t believe that you are right in the middle of the hustle-bustle of Times Square. Of course we had to get us a table at the terrace section. The staff were just so warm, polite and right on point with their recommendations. We got to ordering and we got ourselves a Lobster Scramble, the Mezze Platter and the Focaccia Bread. The Mezze Platter comes with a huge array of dips along with pita, turmeric eggs, quinoa bowl and some veggies. The hummus was absolutely smashing with a perfect creamy texture. The Focaccia bread is a fresh baked baked filled with buffalo sauce and heaps of cheese. All we can say about this is that it defines the term “Cheesy Goodness”!

Next up was the Lobster Scramble which was basically some smooth and creamy scrambled eggs filled with loads of buttery lobster pieces. Every bite of this beauty will give you a soothing and calm feeling down your spine.

It was time for desserts and we knew exactly what we wanted; Waffles and Soufflé! The presentation for both of these were top notch. The waffles are served along with a wide range of toppings like caramel, maple syrup, strawberry, banana and chocolate chips. Every topping served are of high quality and compliment the waffle to perfection.

The soufflé has “I ❤️ NY” written on it which makes for an mind blowing Insta-worthy post. It was supremely soft and moist and was a bit towards the dark chocolate side but the ice cream on top gives it more sweetness. You just cannot be the one thinking about calories when you order this dessert.

I absolutely wanted to love this place but not fully did.

On the upside: the place is lovely and doesn’t feel like belonging to Times Sq. As you step into the property, The Edition Hotel, you completely get rid of the Times Sq. feeling, meaning you enter a quiet, relaxing and unchaotic place. The setting is beautiful, and although a bit secluded, it actually makes you feel like within a real garden. The staff are friendly, assistive, and solicitous without becoming overwhelming nor rushed. The pace is set by you, not by the restaurant, which felt perfect for breakfast. The food is high quality, especially pastries and coffee. I’d even dare to say Terrace and Garden’s coffee was the best I had throughout my overall stay in NYC.

On the downside: I felt the menu was a bit limited but absolutely nothing to worry about; though no pancakes the day I was craving for some!!! The wheelchair friendliness felt a bit short from standards; although I was able to make it to the appointed outdoor seating, the pathway was not very well thought-out. On one side there was a flowerpot that did not allow for the wheelchair to go through, and on the other side were guests that were asked to move for the wheelchair to pass. The toilet, even though it is marked as wheelchair accessible, has a door that does not allow for a wheelchair to access the handicap booth freely and comfortably. And finally, what really annoyed me the most during my visit, is that the restaurant did not accept cash as payment. Not quite sure I got what they tried to explain but nobody at any time during my stay, warned me about this. I had to pay with credit card and the restaurant incurred me in unfavorable exchange rates and fees from my bank.

Nevertheless, I would of course recommend this place, for breakfast, lunch (brunch on weekends), and dinner. It’s a much-needed oasis within...

We had a great dinner at The Terrace before Broadway. We started at the bar and were treated to a great experience by Sonny and Brian. My husband and I ordered a couple cocktails while waiting for our friend to arrive for our dinner reservation. I ordered the Next Day Air and my husband ordered the Smoky martini. The Next Day Air is a little on the sweet side, but you can definitely taste the rum. I tried my husband's Smoky and while I don't usually gravitate toward martinis, this was an exception as it reminded me more of an old fashioned with gin. I loved it. Once our friend arrived we transitioned to the indoor dining area and while the patio would have been nice, the quiet, classy ambiance of the indoor dining room was really great. We ordered the Deep Dish Focaccia for the table and it definitely earns the rave reviews I have seen from other reviewers. Next I ordered a small portion of the King Crab pasta dish and the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo. Both were super delicious. My husband ordered the skirt steak and my friend ordered the octopus with a side of steamed spinach. Everything was to their liking. Our server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I did end up also trying their Signature Old Fashioned, which tasted exactly like an Old Fashioned should. We would have stayed for dessert...I hear the tiramisu is amazing, but we had run out of time and needed to get to the theater for our show.
