I can't do this anymore. This is my third "night" in this hotel and it's a living hell. It's 1 am, i cant sleep cuz the building next door is BLASTING MUSIC through the effing walls! I've complained several times and the staff simply goes, oh as long as they're not over the noise decibel limits. Are you kidding me? I can physically feel the temu speakers warbly bass through the walls. PHYSICALLY FEEL IT.
The rooms (read other reviews) are dimly lit, some of the lamps don't work, missing amenities you'd get in other hotels like...a phone to call front desk. So I'M DIGGING up the number online and calling from my cell. Fire alarm atm is broken as I write this going off with false alarms at 1 am. This is the third time this is happening during my short stay here btw for work. Friday night, sat night into now sunday morning, horrible music from next door, no recourse or protection for paying customers besides, here's some crappy ear plugs? Really?
NYC noise ordinance laws apparently prohibit this from 10pm to 7am. Complained. Nothing. HOtel apparently can't do anything.
Nothing is worth this price. Please take the other 1 stars to heart. AVOID.
No, dont consider it's close to things, just avoid it. It's nyc, the train system is robust and it's a grid system. It's easy to navigate. Stay somewhere else please and avoid this disaster.
The building is three low floors with an open courtyard in the middle of the building in some weird hellish design which seems quaint at first except it's open roof meaning all the city noise comes in. Open windows from the courtyard directly to your rooms meaning mercy of that weather and wind, in nyc in fall? Why?
Again the noise.
No mini fridge, which they don't tell you making it harder to stock your room with even basic supplies that might need frigeration. No courtesy to protect YOUR SLEEP? It's 1 am and I have to write this cuz I cannot sleep from the music.
I wish I could get a refund on all of this suffering when I have to leave but I cannot because I'm here for work, of which, I've been able to do very little.
Ignore every five star review.
I'll give a better detailed rundown right here: no proper signage outside hotel to let you know it's even that place. It simply says: Boutique. Guess and find it! no do not disturb courtesy signs in your room, have the wits to ask for it and because of that, yours will be stolen by someone else in the morning who can't be bothered to ask for their own.
I actually made and deleted a similar review yesterday in hopes of the this nightmare stopping. Today, nope. It's going up and staying up.
As stated, the lighting is poor and dim and some of the lights didn't work upon coming in. There's an empty cubby that implies maybe one day mini fridges? No seat or usual pseudo desks like most hotels have for you to work at. Sit in bed and work, you cretin, apparently?
The photos and booking online seem to gravely misrepresent this place.
Again, I get it, you think you want to be "close" to places in NYC - in manhattan.
Stay elsewhere, learn to use your phone and google if you're new to a grid city. It can literally take you to all your trains and off them. Again, NYC is marvelous with that. For your own sanity, this place will destroy your sleep, your marriage, relationship, mood, and more.
The only one, only thing, nice about this place is the staff themselves are kind. Even if they simply refuse to do anything about that freaking infernal music I say at 1:07 am when I have to wake up for a presentation to give...
Read moreMy wife and I visit the city 3-6 times a year and always have a great time. Given our many visits, we rarely look for new or different hotels and usually book our go-to. Last week, we decided on a last-minute trip for my birthday. Due to availability and price, we were forced to try someplace new. My wife found the Hudson Yards Hotel on one of the travel websites at an affordable rate and we took a gamble on the unknown. Turns out, we won. The Hudson Yards Hotel exceeded our expectations and we would definitely book there again without reservation. In fact, I I believe my wife is already looking up what type of loyalty programs they offer.
Here are a few of the positives/highlights:
Location, Location, Location. Positioned just west of 10th on 42nd, the hotel is a reasonable walk to any of Hell's Kitchen's many fine restaurants, close to Times Square and Broadway Shows and not too far from Bryant Square Park, MSG or even Central Park. (We walked to all of the above from the hotel). If you prefer the transit system, access to virtually any Subway line is mere blocks away.
The people, and by people, I mean Terrence and Jeremy. As a hospitality lifer, I am a firm believer that the right people are the difference between good and great. Terrence and Jeremy made our experience great. Terrence was warm, always smiling, approachable and took the time to get to know our names. He offered suggestions, said hello and asked about our day as we entered and left the building. Jeremy was equally charming and helpful in a dry delightfully humorous way that my wife and I completely enjoyed. Both were rock stars and definitely added to the vibe and atmosphere of the hotel.
Clean Good Sized Rooms: The room was welcoming, a good size, super clean and the small fridge in the room a welcome touch that came in handy. Every place should have one. I am also a fan of no carpet. Only opportunity for improvements room-wise: the lack of a room-safe was odd and the two remotes for the TV were a little clunky and less than user friendly. That said, you don't go to NYC to watch TV in your room. Overall, big fan of the room. The bathroom was also a super clean and good size with enough room for two people to get ready, wash up, etc. Read some complaints about the water not being hot enough and can tell you that was definitely not an issue after the hot water kicked in. I like a super-hot shower and got just that. Water pressure (one of my pet peeves) wasn't crazy strong, but definitely not weak and easily more than adequate. Whatever issues there were have clearly been addressed. Not a huge fan of the mirror in the shower, but not a big deal and, on the brightside, has motivated me to get back to the gym.
Surprisingly quiet. One of my concerns, given the precise location and 42nd being one of the few 2-way streets and a major thoroughfare, was noise. Quite simply, it wasn't an issue at all. The hotel was quiet and also did a good job with security/access at night.
A new restaurant/bar is on the way. Don't know all the details but saw folks working on the restaurant/bar space next door. It looks inviting, will be super convenient for the guests and should be an awesome addition to the place.
Summing up, we booked The Hudson Yards Hotel out of necessity and will return by choice. Thanks for a great birthday stay and say hi to Terrence and...
Read moreI booked this hotel months ago before the reviews started tanking, and I had planned to stay here with my family during the holidays in December. To my shock, when we arrived, we were informed there was no hot water or heat—yet no one bothered to inform us of this beforehand. It was a freezing winter stay, and the lack of basic amenities was unacceptable.
The front desk staff was incredibly rude when we asked for more information, they offered to cancel our reservation with a full refund. I opted to take this option, knowing I couldn’t stay there without heat or hot water- especially since I was with a child. However, things only got worse. The front desk refused to provide any confirmation of the cancellation, and in the middle of my conversation, the man at the desk simply walked away. I was left stunned by the lack of basic customer service but also the lack of social cues in the whole conversation was absolutely bizarre.
I was then redirected to Booking.com for help, but they were just as unhelpful. To anyone facing the same issue, save yourself time and just do a chargeback with your credit card company—it seems to be the only way to get any action.
I even had to return to the property later during my trip to try to sort out the cancellation. When I went back, the staff was still as incompetent as before. The girl at the desk was crying and claiming she was "set up for failure every day." While I empathize with her, it was not my problem—I just wanted confirmation that my reservation was canceled.
Overall, this hotel seems to be run poorly from top to bottom. With the way things are going, I’m sure this place will soon be overwhelmed with complaints to the Better Business Bureau. It’s clear there’s some serious management neglect going on, and I would absolutely recommend avoiding this hotel at all costs. Save yourself the headache, and look elsewhere for your stay.
EDIT: despite their reply to this review, I have reached out multiple times with no reply. Still dealing with trying to receive...
