I had the worst experience at this restaurant. While sitting in the lounge area, a waitress (an Indian woman) approached me and rudely told me to move to another area. At first, I didn’t hear her clearly because I had my headphones on. When I asked her to repeat herself, she yelled at me with a nasty attitude, demanding that I move.
I calmly told her that she needed to learn how to speak to customers and requested to speak with a manager. She stormed off and returned moments later, slamming placemats in front of me before calling me “very rude.” In response, I told her she was rude and suggested she learn basic human decency and proper customer service. I couldn’t believe that this was the tone she took with me and At that point, I decided to leave the area.
I spoke with the manager, Ken, about the situation, and while he initially seemed to understand, he moved me to another section in the lounge. However, after speaking with the waitress, he returned and asked me to leave. This is where I believe discrimination occurred.
Ken claimed that the women seated nearby supported the waitress’s version of events,( mind you they weren’t even there for the entire thing) they insisting that she had done nothing wrong and implying that I was the problem. I suggested he review the security footage to get the full picture, but without any investigation, he chose to side with the waitress and told me to leave.
As a paying customer of the hotel, I found his actions both racist and prejudiced. It was disheartening to see him dismiss my concerns so easily and take her word over mine, especially after I pointed out the importance of good customer service and how employees should value their patrons.
After staying at The Yotel for over eight years, this experience has left me no choice but to take my business elsewhere. I won’t be dining at this restaurant or staying at The...
Read moreI made a reservation here for my birthday dinner about three weeks ahead of time. While coordinating everything (I had a large party of 10 and wanted to bring a cake), the staff was quite nice, and making the reservation went smoothly. Keep in mind that an important factor in selecting this place to celebrate my birthday was the interior design and vibe; it looked beautiful in all the pictures I saw online and I thought it'd be a great place to take nice pictures.
Come the night of my birthday, and when I arrived at the time of my reservation, there was a comedy show happening inside the restaurant and the dining area was closed. Not one person I spoke to while making the reservation mentioned that there would be a show that night and that the dining area would be closed. If the event was planned between the time I initially made the reservation and the reservation date, no one reached out to let me know. I arrived at the restaurant on my birthday only to be extremely disappointed and essentially have my birthday dinner ruined. Dining service continued, but we were sat in a lounging area located in one of the Yotel hallways. It was not at all intimate like I'd wanted; dozens of people (hotel guests or event attendees) were constantly passing by our table, there was so much noise, and the service was extremely slow, I'm guessing because of the show. To make it worse, the food wasn't that great as it tasted like stuff that was mass-produced and didn't seem to be made with care.
I was so disappointed and upset that I didn't end up enjoying my birthday dinner at all. If someone had mentioned to me that there was a show that night, I would've chosen somewhere else to celebrate. But because of the negligence of the staff here, my memory of my 25th birthday celebration...
Read moreReally unsatified with our Valentine's Day dinner, really put a damper on the night. First, my $13 drink had half a shot in it, if I wanted a glass of juice I would have ordered that for $4.. Second, the carrots that were part of my bfs entree were charred to a crisp, they were so burnt he couldn't even eat them. Third, my entree was undercooked. I had the grilled fennel, which I personally make all the time, and it was so tough I could barely use a regular knife I should have asked for a steak knife. Out of the four course meal that was offered we were only satisfied with the appetizer, being the scallops. Fourth, the dessert we ordered, the chocolate mousse, was just smeared on a plate it wasn't appealing at all. The general manager came out twice, the first time giving us a 'complimentary salad' which wasn't good and we didn't eat, and then came out a second time giving us a 'complimentary dessert' which was "creme brulee". It honestly tasted like they made a pudding out of fruit loops. And now lastly, while I have absolutely no problem with this, there were drag queens walking in and out of the restaurant constantly, I guess putting a show on for Yotel Hotel, but it was so distracting and completely unprofessional. It took the focus off of what was supposed to be a romantic dinner and put the focus on something completely irrelevant. If we wanted to see a drag show we would have bought tickets to it. It honestly just ruined our night. We spend $120 for what should have cost at most $40. When we asked for the general manager at the end to discuss our check he was no where to be found. It was far from a nice or classy restaurant. Extremely sub-par. I don't recommend. I hope everyone else had a good...
