My 5-month old daughter was injured by the EEG technician, Junqi Zheng, and my MIL and I were verbally abused by her. Attached is a photo of the 0.5” scab on my daughter’s head where Junqi (the technician) scraped my daughter’s head so hard prior to placing the electrodes. This is not the first time a complaint has been made about Junqi so I am frustrated that my family’s pain could have been avoided as it sounded like she should have been fired a long time ago. The fact that she knew nothing was going to be done about her poor performance is why I am writing this. I hope that no other family will be hurt by Junqi. She even said to me “go ahead, report me, here’s my ID. The camera isn’t on” (i.e the interaction wasn’t recorded so she knew she was safe). She is a drag on her team, patients and the Cornell network, and needs to be fired. From the moment she walked in, she had a bad attitude. For example, she ROLLED HER EYES when I asked her two questions: (1) how long the procedure would take, and (2) whether she had to tie my baby’s hair in buns bc she was pulling so tight that it made her cry At times, she was PURPOSELY HURTING my child. Junqi used a wooden Q-tip to separate my baby’s hair into sections and was scraping her scalp so hard with the wooden end that my baby was crying. She COULD HAVE USED THE SOFT COTTON SIDE to separate her hair into sections. She didn’t even have that much hair! In addition, I asked her if we can use water instead of the suction to keep the tape on (the suction was making my baby cry even more) and she said “have you done this before” and I said “well we did a 1 hour EEG here at Cornell and they used water so was just wondering.” She ROLLED HER EYES and said “THAT WAS A DIFFERENT LOCATION.” Please note she COULD’VE SIMPLY LOWERED THE SUCTION LEVEL. The second technician did exactly that and explained that there are different suction levels. Why would you use the same suction level for an adult on a baby?! When I asked for break because my baby was freaking out due to the pain caused by Junqi, leading my baby to scratch her face so hard it was bleeding, Junqi said “why are you here” and I said “well because she’s been having spasms”. Her response was “you can refuse EEG. You’re hurting baby”. I told her that I didn’t want to be there and wished my daughter was happy and healthy but that she was having spasms and she kept repeating “you can refuse EEG.” She thought this procedure was unnecessary, which is absurd and not her decision. And if anything, SHE had already hurt my baby creating a wound on my baby’s scalp. This was the last straw and I told her if she was having a bad day, she should not take it out on her patients and that she didn’t have to be there. Her response was “ok it’s better for me to leave.” Not only was my daughter injured, but Junqi wasted my time (I had to take off work to go to the EEG with my daughter) and many medical professionals time (from the NP to the nurses to the management team), her team’s time as her team member had to cover her patient, and 4 hours of my life as she did not complete the procedure and I had to wait that long for a new technician. No actions were taken against this woman who hurt my child, no apology from her, and it is unclear whether she was provided training after this incident (i.e. use different suction levels based on patient’s age, don’t use a sharp wooden stick to separate a patients hair - use the soft side, don’t roll your eyes at patients, etc.)

When we registered at Weill Cornell ER they were expecting us to arrive by ambulance not on foot. Harlem Hospital sabotaged our ambulance transfer that insurance would have paid for by stating my mom’s emergency surgery case was non-emergent. Anyway, we were immediately taken to triage and my mom placed on a stretcher. They gave her pain meds while they looked over her records. I was given a comfortable chair to sit in next to her stretcher. We were in an area with one other person but had a rotating door of crazies next to us. After being awake for 20 hrs and feeling delirious I found it comical. The gastrointestinal doctors visited my mom throughout the night and had to repeat the cat scan because the images sent by HH weren’t readable. She needed another drainage tube but this time it was placed properly and it worked! They let it drain throughout the night and by the morning was taking her up to surgery. The family waiting room for surgery patients is so relaxing and welcoming. David was the welcome center coordinator who greeted everyone and ran down amenities and what the process would be like. Updates such as surgery start time, completion and when family can visit, are given in real time once you register your cell number for text notifications. They have a small conference room for doctors to give updates to families. They have a charging station for cell phones and will check your bags in until your relative is ready to leave post-op for their assigned room. They even gave me professional courtesy to check my work email once I showed my NYP ID. My mom’s surgery was a success and after a couple of hours in post-op she was taken to her room which only had two other beds. She received a welcome BINDER when she arrived on her floor and a bag full of toiletries. I can’t say enough good things about how my mom was treated and I thank everyone who was attentive and compassionate and took wonderful care of her.

I am so grateful for everything the nurses and doctors have done for my daughter. I’ve never seen so much attention given to my daughter in a hospital and noticed that it wasn’t just me but the other patients. My daughter had to be admitted to the hospital, and when we got a room, I felt like I was in a resort, and I say that because all the essential things needed were there, and the nurses ensured I got EVERYTHING we needed. They would consistently ask if we were okay, and I even got a quick tour to know what they had available. The best part was two nurses that were sent over because there was a shortage that shift didn't know how to answer specific questions, but they went to make an effort and get me answers. Recommend hospital for kids. Also, one of the nurses noticed the bed was extremely high even after bringing it as low as it can go and was excessively concerned that my daughter could Fall. I wanted to tell her not to worry because my daughter knows how to climb down high beds without issues, but I stood quiet, and I allowed her to address that concern because it came out of her heart and willingness to find something more suitable for my daughter.

Being hospitalized in this hospital is being the worst experience of my life, for almost two weeks with prostatitis I have never been seen by a urologist, they removed the urinary catheter without an evaluation by the urologist of my prostate, so they had to drain my urine, the staff has no empathy with the pain... it was terrible, terrible, and to this day I still haven't seen the urologist even though I have an emergency with a urinary catheter, they postponed my appointment for next week. in September explain by this same way the horror that had been my days of hospitalization on the 7th floor of this place between September 7 and September 10 of the year and year

my complaint was attended by the lady Kelly McCabe but apparently she misinterpreted my discomforts, she in her report dated October 15 of the year in progress I put her on the way to what she calls pain management by the nurse involved, and it is the opposite even though I told her about it. repeatedly that the nurse that day did her job in the best way and managed the pain in the best way she could, my discomfort was with the 5 doctors who during that stay were in charge of my health, they decided to remove the urine catater without evaluating the prostate, having on my chart a CT abdomen an pelvis with contrast dated September 7 that said that my prostate was enlarged so it was evident that my prostate did not allow my urine to go down alone, in its report also sealla who refuses to take ibuprofen on September 9 obviously had to do it I have kidney failure 3A and that drug is contraindicated but the Drs did not sin that detail either, another point in their report says that it was I who said that I wanted to urinate without the totally false cater urine and proof of this was that all the nurses were asked to please place the permanent catarer urine and they told me that no that the Doctors specified that they were going to urinate without the cater urine and proof of it was that was that all the nurses asked to do not to urinate without the urine catering and that they were going to put it on the doctor's. I had to urinate by myself and after having a strong discussion with the Dr who was in charge was that I agreed to put back the urine catheter proof of this this my discussion with her that must be recorded by requesting an interpreter from Spanish to English, another important point and to finish the Drs who in the end are the ones who make the decisions withdrew the initial catarer without 1- evaluating and checking that the prostate was still inflamed which made it impossible for me to urinate for me. same and 2- had changed the antibiotic 3 times, that is, they were not even ready to see if the antibiotic was the one to verify whether or not they should remove the catheter in principle and then to the horror of the pain of removing the urine without wanting to put the urinary catheter back fixed as at the end I pass after me arguing with the Dr in charge that night I agree to put it back, and I repeat it was I who told her everything about it, then do not tell me about the nurses involved that they did their best work, my annoyance is with the origin of that horror that were the bad decisions of the medical...

This is for all the people struggling with mental health and OCD and anxiety disorders: never, ever, EVER, send yourself to the New York Presbyterian Weill-Cornell Partial Hospitalization Program for adolescents. It is absolute hell. During my stay there, my social worker had the snappiest attitude and my psychiatrist was the most useless piece of crap I've ever endured. I would talk to her about what I wasn't feeling great about and what I was struggling with, as well as personal details regarding my mental health, and all she would say is "That sounds frustrating. Do you have any other questions about the program?" She said this. Every. Single. Time. Literally dismissing me aside. I swear to god, I could tell her that my mom just died and she will, guaranteed, reply that way. And when I confronted to her about how I thought the program was unproductive as well as her robotic and emotionless responses, she would simply give me the blankest look ever and say, "Then what do you want me to do about it?" And if you are parent considering to send your child here, I assure you, your child will be falling asleep through the entire program. These people have the audacity to give struggling teenagers crayons and a piece of paper for an hour and call that therapy and cognitive behavior therapy. They will not help you and they will not listen to you. And this place has the audacity to call themselves the Top 5 Best Hospitals in the Nation. What an...
