Dr Yao is generally very busy with other colleagues or trainees or associates but this time we were alone and I had her entire attention. My questions were thoroughly answered. My medical problem was once again discussed as different options to resolve it. I did want to know the worst and the best of the situation and Doctor was open about this: we reviewed what had been done, what was more beneficial, what other options to explore... What I particularly like and appreciate was Dr Yao 's willingness to consider my own views with regards to treatments involved. At my age, I believe it important to envisage and ensure a relative quality of life rather than uncertain results with long and painful recovery such as surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Yao to other patients for her thorough assessment of a problem, , her ability to work with her patients and her acute professional abilities. Dr. Yao was friendly and warm and my visit to her practice was a pleasure. I have to get yearly steroid injections into my hands. If the provider is not deliberate, it can be extremely painful.

Full disclosure: like most men (ask my wife) I am a big baby when it comes to pain. Dr. Yao, was so very patient. The trick with these injections is to depress the syringe very slowly so the liquid dissipates and doesn't cause back pressure pain. She took her time, let the lidocaine work and checked in to make sure I was OK.
