I visited this restaurant on November 9, 2024, at 2:15 pm. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, the manager initially refused to seat me at the bar, giving me the impression that my appearance might have influenced his judgment about whether I belonged there. After explaining that I needed gluten-free options, he reluctantly allowed me to sit but insisted I leave by 3 pm—an unnecessary restriction given how empty the place was.

During my meal, other customers without reservations were seated without any time limits, highlighting inconsistent and treatment. While eating, I overheard the manager telling the waitress to clear my plate, assuming I had finished when I hadn’t. 1/5 of pizza was left and I placed my cutlery to the side for a break. This supported my impression that the manager just wants me out of his store.

When paying, I left a modest tip, which the manager criticized, stating that larger tips are customary in the U.S and that his staff is depended on it. While I value tipping, his confrontational approach felt unprofessional as the reason for the small tip was clearly that he did not deliver and created an awful experience. Rather than lecturing customers, the manager should create an environment where both guests and staff feel respected that is his job. I hope the manager will excuse his behaviour after reading this post to the staff and be so humble to accept that he was the reason I did not tip and maybe make up for it?

The inconsistent policies, unprofessional behavior, and dismissive attitude made my visit unpleasant. If this restaurant is selective about its clientele, they should enforce that consistently rather than sending mixed signals. I cannot recommend this place based on my experience even though the staff and...

What began as a lovely lunch ended as a disaster - and possibly the worst dining experience I have ever had. My party of 2 was seated right away at noon on a chilly winter Wednesday. This is usually peak time for NYC lunch so we were happy that there were only a few others seated. We quickly ordered the calamari and truffle pizza to split. The appetizer came about 10-15 minutes later and we were delighted by the quick service and beverage refills. We finished the appetizer (perhaps there were 2 small pieces left, along with a couple of crumbs left in the basket) and continued conversing for a very long time. I realized we’ve now been waiting for about 30 minutes after receiving our appetizer and we were still without our entree. I asked our waiter if our entree will be ready soon - and right there he said that he was waiting for us to tell him that we were finished with our appetizer so that he could bring out our entree....excuse me? I’ve never before had to signal the waiter to bring out the next course. Food usually comes as it is ready, and the waiter is able to sense when the course has been complete. The waiter then said he will bring the entree since now he knows that we are done with the appetizer. The host even came by and told us that because we didn’t tell our waiter that we were done with our appetizer, that is why we never got our entree. Well it seems like this was all a cover up for forgetting to make our pizza...because we waited another 30 minutes and still didn’t receive a pizza. At this point we asked for the check, to cancel the pizza, and left the restaurant. The service was horrendous and the employees here aren’t afraid to lie to customers. Avoid this restaurant if you’d like to be treated with some respect...

Yesterday after a walk around New York we visited Pizzarte, all the seats upstairs were taken and we were offered seats at the bar counters near the exit to the cafe, we sat down, made an order - Spaghetti all’Astice with lobster and Salmone alla Grilla with vegetables. My 6 year old son had lemonade from Dunkin' Donuts in his hand, which we took on the way while looking for a cafe, an Italian manager flew up to us and started yelling at us rudely and scolding us for coming in with a drink, that this is prohibited by law and can lead to a lawsuit for 5 million dollars, thereby scaring my son, it looked like he wanted to throw us out into the street. I said, what can I do if my son has already come in with a drink, and we made an order already? He continued yelling and screaming, then went to scold the workers for allowing this. I had already lost my appetite, I was very upset, but we were very hungry and we needed to go to the airport, so we decided to stay and eat. Because I am a lawyer , I immediately started looking for laws that prohibit bringing drinks with you, and found only internal rules, and there was no talk of lawsuits for 5 million dollars, the Italian manager wanted to intimidate me and mislead me, which does him no honor, just disgusting behavior. No complaints about the food - it was delicious, the girl working at the cafe who accompanied us came up and apologized for the behavior of her manager, for which I am grateful to her, this smoothed out the impression. But in general, I was very disappointed with such an inappropriate and disrespectful attitude towards their clients, I would not recommend this place to people who...

Besides not being sure how to pronounce the name of this place, my wife and I had a pretty good experience here. It's "Neapolitan" style pizza - small enough to order your own, though certainly filling. There are a few relatively creative pies on the menu (butternut squash!) but I ordered their Diavola - a simple pie with sauce, cheese, and "spicy salami." My wife ordered the Eduardo, a ham and mushroom affair. Their wood burning oven did fairly nice work, but to be honest with you, the flavor of the dough was a bit "burn forward" - I could really taste the burnt. They did acknowledge that they were thin crust pies: indeed. I basically had to eat mine with a fork, it was very much not wanting to be picked up or it would fall right apart. It was also pretty damn salty; I traded my wife a slice and she couldn't finish it. I think the acidity of the tomato balanced it out a bit, but yes, definitely salty. Hers was nice (I thought the mushrooms were a bit meh) but we both agreed neither pie was up to the high bar of our favorite pizza place, Tufinos in Astoria (where the pies are also five bucks or so cheaper, too, but hey that's Queens). But ya know what? Service was really good, very kind, and refilled our waters many times. We were upstairs, and it's definitely a bit tight up there - kind of have to squeeze past the server to get to the bathroom. But the chairs are fairly comfortable, the atmosphere is fine (the website says "the restaurant also features a changing gallery of contemporary art"; I totally didn't even notice). Not my favorite pizza place but definitely not bad.

We were in NYC for the Christmas shopping, sightseeing and of course, the Rockettes. When we walked by this little place and saw the pizza oven through the window, we thought it might be a great place to get authentic Italian pizza. We were very thankful to the hostess for seating us without reservation, they were booked but she could seat us for an hour. It is very small but the space is used well. There is a musty/ moldy smell downstairs but once we were upstairs we didn’t smell it. The server was quite rude though and the pizza was a huge disappointment. $40 bucks wasted. Neither of us could eat our pizza. They were both so wet, runny and soggy. The waiter never checked on us except to bring the check and take it. We lived in Italy for several years and I can tell you this pizza doesn’t tast like any pizza we had anywhere in Italy. I ordered the Italian tuna(Tono) and they dumped undrained tuna on the pizza. It was disgusting. This is a pizza I ordered every time we were in Naples. Italian pizza makers would not dump undrained tuna on a pizza.
