This was the rudest Japanese store I’ve ever been to in the world, no exaggeration. I had marked this place on Google Maps for quite a while because the reviews were great, and I was really looking forward to visiting. Today, I happened to be nearby, so I finally went in and bought a variety of snacks.
I also needed a nail clipper at that time, but the only one I saw was for babies. So, I asked a store clerk—a Japanese lady with yellow hair—if they had nail clippers. She responded in a very impatient and rude tone, simply saying “Yes.” I then pointed out that the one I found was for babies and asked if they had one for adults. She became visibly annoyed and aggressively led me to where the baby nail clippers were, and said rudely “This is for babies.” I said I know that’s why I’m looking for an adult one. She impatiently walked me over to another shelf, showing me a different product, saying “This is expensive.” I told her, “I know this brand.” She just repeated “This is expensive” back to me and walked away.
I didn’t say anything further, bought the nail clipper, and left. I have no idea why she was so hostile, but I’m never coming back to this...
Read moreUpdated: My family has shopped in the W56th Store 2 - 3 times a month for years. Yesterday, I purchased three pieces of salmon sashimi from this store, each priced at $34.99/lb and labeled as weighing 0.27 lbs. Each package was charged at $9.44.
After walking home, I thought it was an odd coincidence that all weighed the same. So I carefully weighed each of the pieces using a precise kitchen scale. (see attached photos) Following were the actual weights:
Piece 1: 111g Piece 2: 113g Piece 3: 108g
Since 0.27 lbs equals approximately 122.5 grams, each piece was noticeably underweight, despite being labeled and priced as 0.27 lbs. Based on the per-pound price, I was overcharged by approximately $2.71 in total.
The owner provided the explanation below, asked for me to travel back to the store so they could...
Read moreThis is just based on my visit at this particular spot compared to the other Dainobu on 6ave that I usually go to.
Not sure if it was because of timing but I visited the store around 4:30-5pm since I was in the area and very few selection of ready-to-eat food.
Bought eel avocado roll ( expiration 9/5) & soft shell crab rice ball (expiration 9/4) after work for a quick snack since I was hungry.
The roll had an odd smell. The rice ball was just plain hard and inedible, had to throw it out. Please check your food stock and remove the old foods as this is very off putting after a long...
