I had to take a day to gather my thoughts for this post. I went to this salon because it was recommended to me by friends. I chose my hairstylist based off of IGK Instagram handle. I came in and told my hairstylist exactly what I wanted which were 2 money pieces in the front, blonde under in the front and dark around the rest of my hair. She told me she doesn’t like money pieces because it’s tacky. I said Ok and let her tell me what she suggests. She ended up just highlighting everything again while also doing another client. Mind you, this was my first time here. I get my hair washed by the washers in the back. The washer didn’t even wash my hair properly which is what most look forward to when going to a salon. She tells the washer what toner to put in my hair Bc she’s too busy doing the previous client. Why even take me if you can’t focus on one person at a time?! The washer barely applies the toner correctly so I already knew their will be spots missed. She takes me back to the chair and starts blowing out my hair and I see my hair is still brassy. I told her can she please get the hairstylist to tell her my concerns and when she came back she tried to tell me that you can’t get that out with a toner. I said ok. I reached out to my hairstylist friends who work with my in my industry and they tell me she can correct it. The washer continues drying my hair and I notice other spots she didn’t get. So I ask for the hairstylist back and she comes to me asking what the problem is. I let her know their is spot of brass and they can be color corrected and she said where did you get that from? A Google search? I was shocked she coped an attitude. I said no I have a lot of hairstylist friends and this is what they recommended so we can fix the problem. She asked me are they professionals with chemicals and coloring. She gave me major attitude and told me fine. Whatever you want. She went and did my toner and made sure it went all the way through. At this point I was so livid with the experience and how she treats first time clients. I got my hair blown out by the washer and she went back to her client. I left there with the worst experience and will not being going back. For those that want a good experience where a hairstylists ego doesn’t come into play don’t go to Lauren. Save yourself 400 dollars and go somewhere where they listen to what you are asking and don’t question your...
Read moreColorist Stephanie B hashtaged #balyage all over her IG, with lots of beautiful photos of sun kissed blondes, so I figured sure let’s try her. I walk into this salon and it’s bumping (bad) music that you can barely hear the stylist and the lighting is really industrial bad. But I’m assured I’ll get what I want. I booked a partial balayage- to brighten my blonde. Instead I left- alone- because Stephanie left before my hair was done getting blown out - with more brown than I walked in with. To top it off I was charged $489.00 PLUS tip- which I sadly didn’t pay. They don’t warn you there is no atm and they don’t do credit tips. But honestly it was the worst “highlight” I’ve ever received. Turns out Stephanie cant do “balayage” she only does tiny thin FOILS. Something I hadn’t had done in many years. Why is she advertising stuff she cannot do? Because there is something very wrong with this salon. I went back twice only to be given a younger and less experienced person all saying they agreed my hair didn’t look great. Weirdest part, they kept having to take me outside to see the color because their lighting inside the salon is so bad- can this place be real? $500 price tags and you can’t put in better light bulbs? I’m convinced these reviews below aren’t legitimate. This salon is not good. Apparently the owners are from Miami, and that’s the hairstyle you’re getting because nothing out of here is cool or current. Go to the smaller shops, and the ones owned by stylists who work there, this place leaves so much to be desired. Update -after many complaints, calls and visits the snooty manager finally refunded my $489.00. But not my time or my hair. I went to O&M in the west village - much better and more current...
Read moreSomething is off with these reviews. All 5 stars? No way. This place is a disaster. First the music is so loud and bad. Second the lighting inside is so bad the colorists actually have to take you outside to see the real color. If you go in the evening your clothes smell so badly like the restaurant next door. Sadly some of the people have such bad attitudes and talk like valley girls. I asked for a certain type of appointment and the snooty young lady on the phone never booked it as she was supposed to and I didn’t find out until the very end after my colorist left - I was charged double what I had asked for - a whopping $500. The best part is that I booked an appointment with a colorist who tags herself everywhere on IG with #Balayage - when I booked an appointment for such, and asked for very little - you can imagine my surprise- My hair was not balayage painted nor did it look like balayage nor feel $500. And to make it sweeter- I came back in for her to fix it and she said she actually doesn’t do balayage. Something is very off here and these reviews don’t seem to reflect the reality inside. Last- one review does state this- no one- NOONE tells you before your appointment they they only accept cash for their tips- so you are stunned at the end - who doesn’t allow you to add or at least Venmo a stylist these days? They don’t even have an atm. You have to leave and walk several blocks and come back. For $500, you’d better get stellar service, champagne, a message, a gorgeous hair color AND style and feel like you just dropped over a days pay. I felt scammed and led on by false reviews, severely over priced services and hashtags that turned out to be...
