I had an excellent experience dining at Yubu Soho, a Korean restaurant in New York's prime location - Soho. The ambiance of the restaurant was welcoming and comfortable.
The menu was varied, providing a delightful mix of traditional and modern Korean cuisine. I particularly enjoyed the Spicy Tuna, which was a blend of canned tuna and mayo, wrapped in sweet tofu skin. The rice was chewy and complemented the slightly fishy tuna perfectly.
The flame-seared salmon was another standout. It had a robust raw salmon flavor, with a hint of a torched smell. Served at room temperature, the salmon was mild and delicious.
The regular Salmon dish was unseasoned, which might sound plain, but trust me, it was a treat. The combination of the seasoned rice and sweet tofu made the dish absolutely perfect.
The Spicy Salmon was a unique blend of cold salmon and sriracha mayo. It was a bit on the salty side but very good nonetheless.
The Beef Bulgogi was a masterful mix of stir-fried, ground beef with a distinct bulgogi flavor. It was slightly salty but paired well with the sweet tofu and chewy, perfectly cooked rice.
The spicy pork dish - Pork Jaeyook, was good as well. The spicy and salty pork flavor paired well with the rice.
The Spicy Chicken and Spicy Mushroom were also on the menu. The chicken cooked in spicy sauce was pretty good, while the mushroom dish was mild, earthy, and not very spicy.
Out of all the dishes, the salmon ones were the best, and among the cooked ones, the beef bulgogi stood out.
What makes Yubu Soho even more appealing is its pricing and the variety of box sizes. I chose a box of 8 dishes for just $25, which I found to be a great deal.
In summary, Yubu Soho is a very cute place that offers great food at a reasonable price. I had a great time here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good Korean dining...
Read moreYUBU is a small Korean restaurant located in SoHo specializing in the tofu pockets its name is based on.
The atmosphere is like a smaller cafe, with many smaller tables sprinkled throughout the restaurant and quick and efficient service. The menus are plastered on the walls as well as at the counter, so it's easy to determine what you want.
We tried the Bulgolgi, Pork Jaeyook, Spicy Chicken, Spicy Tuna Mayo, Seared Salmon, and Spicy Salmon Yubus. The rice was compacted into the tofu skin wrap, with it being a bit mushy and easy to fall apart. However, the rice ratio to the toppings was good, and the flavors overall was pretty decent. The spicy ones weren't too spicy, but still had a bit of a kick. It was $25 for 8 of them, so decent price for the portion and number you get.
Overall a great place to grab a quick...
Read morewell I love yubu, and this place did not disappoint! I came around 7:30pm on a Thursday evening in March.
as we eat halal, we only got the salmon, spicy salmon, spicy tuna, crabmeat, mushroom bulgogi, and spicy mushroom yubu for 2. the recommended portion is 3-4 per person, I'd say 7 would be perfect for two smaller humans.
my favorites were the spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and crabmeat yubu - the bulgogi had potential, but there wasn't enough mushroom to compete with the rice.
very cute spot, they gave their takuan/danmuji in these cute containers, have thoughtful towelettes and quality chopsticks, cute drinks that I will have to try for next time.
very pleasant customer service, very nice interacting with him! he was helpful and kind
