The Jimmy has the worst management and event planning. Made plans to go to the Jimmy with my friends for the 4th of July party and my birthday celebration.
We had emailed them in advance to rsvp/reserve a chair or table, then day of, they informed us the Jimmy would openat 2:30 pm, so we arrived early at 1:50-2:00 to beat the line. Turns out there was no line and we were the first because they actually open at 3:00. Then at 3:00, a 60-100 person line had formed and they still weren't open. 3:30 rolls around and they barely started setting up the door, 15-20 more minutes go by and the bouncer comes and announces that they won't be letting any people in because they overbooked their party. Mind you, none of the people who had rsvps had even arrived yet. So they basically gambled by taking free reservations with no guarantee of them showing up, and left no room for door walk-ins.
I informed the bouncer that I rsvped and they said that they couldn't locate it in their system, even though I showed him a response I got back from them confirming.
Needless to say, not one single person got in, and people were pissed and rightfully so, it was hot, we had been waiting for 2 1/2 hours, and they screwed numerous people over who wouldn't spent money. This place really is poorly managed and wasted everyone's time on the 4th of July of all days and my birthday. By time they announced they were not letting anyone in, every hotel and party was booked or had a ridiculous line. Really ruined the...
Read moreUpdate: I recently went back for a friend’s bday and this place is not melanin friendly. I had to go to the Hispanic bartender to receive proper service, the young white male bartender completely ignored me and only serviced white people, this was the confirmation I needed and I never plan on returning.

Previous review:
I recently celebrated my birthday here with some friends and we had a great time. I’ll break it all down into categories below:
VIEWS - I chose this place for the views and was not disappointed. They were absolutely breathtaking!
Drinks - The drinks were just ok, I do wish they opened the bar outside because it was Jam packed and the bartender ignored us so much so, that Raphael walked over from the other end of the bar to serve us.
Food - We did not eat. I would not recommend you come here if food is what you’re seeking. There is really nowhere to sit and enjoy a meal, it’s mostly standing room.
Music: It was not my favorite, I would’ve appreciated a mix but instead they played mostly pop and house music, perfect for the crowd they attract.
Would I come back? Probably on a weekday when it isn’t so crowded just to take in the view, then I’ll head to another bar/restaurant for...
Read moreJimmy is definitely a different vibe from other rooftops...
On the positive, it offers a beautiful view of the Holland Tunnel exit which is pretty cool if you drive in on 78 often,
Also positive, beautiful place with beautiful ambiance.
And the negatives, are, many...
First, you have very high prices for drinks which is pretty standard in NYC, but they are not of a high quality in parity with the standard in New York City,
Second, is the clientele, the crowd so to speak. They are mostly very rude and pretentious. You do expect that attitude in New York City but the people at this rooftop seem to take it to a completely different level that even as a well-educated professional myself I find very irritating.
Third, I don't know if the bouncers just like to keep people out, or if there are legitimately a lot of private parties but it is closed half the time you go there.
Overall, I don't want to knock it too hard because the view is amazing, but quite frankly it is far from the best rooftop in New York City, there are so many better options, you should probably go once just to see it like I did, but it's not somewhere I would recommend putting on your...
