Amazing Engagement Party at The INKAN! I recently hosted my engagement party at The INKAN, and it was an unforgettable experience! The food was absolutely delicious—our guests couldn’t stop raving about the Peruvian-style ribs, vegetarian chaufa, and the mouthwatering rotisserie chicken. The Peruvian sauce was, without a doubt, the most flavorful sauce I’ve ever tasted, and my entire family loved it! We had around 50 people at the party, and the venue was beautifully decorated, including a lovely backyard area. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the owner and the servers were super attentive during the whole party and made the experience that much better. I would highly recommend coming here for delicious food and drinks (must try the sangria, although all drinks were good!), or even hosting a party. If you’re looking for an authentic Peruvian dining experience with exceptional service, I highly recommend The INKAN—it’s the perfect spot for any celebration!

Went here for lunch during my stay in NY. We ordered fresh juices of mora which was made just right. The waitress also brought us chips and salsa. The salsa was really good and had a little hint of spice. My sister and I ordered an entree to share of the Aji de Gallo that comes with rice and crispy potato along with boiled eggs. It was okay. The sauce wasn't what I am used to. I felt it was missing flavor. The boiled egg was all a little green. I am peruvian so my expectations were high but overall it was okay. The presentation of the restaurant is good. They have an outdoor patio area with lights and decor which really surprised us considering how small it looks from the outside. I am sure at night it looks nice. Customer service was okay the waitress didn't know the answer to some of our questions regarding what the side were that came with our entree but she did come to check on us a few times. Overall, it was an average experience.

We celebrated a birthday by picking up take out from the menu. The decor was cozy and upscale with warm wood and earth tones in the dining area. A small but nicely stocked bar was inviting along the back wall and we would have partaken had we not been on the clock. The staff were attentive and welcomed us warmly. The background music helped set the mood for an authentic Peruvian experience. But the reason we were there was to try the food. The food was amazing! My first taste of Peruvian fare and I was blown away by the freshness, the textures and colors that all worked together so beautifully! Ceviche shrimp, fresh avocado, potato puree, panko shrimp, quinoa, fresh greens, mango...unbelievably delightful. I am so looking forward to dining in on our next visit. It's a must-try and a moderately upscale dining experience in an area of Long Island City generally dominated by food trucks and take outs.

As a proud Peruvian who’s been to more restaurants than I can count — both locally and internationally — I had high hopes for this place. Unfortunately, while the food was good (not great), the service was so shockingly unprofessional that I will never return.

The waitress was rude from the start, but things got much worse. I brought my partner, who flew in from Puerto Rico to visit, and we were both deeply disappointed. We ordered two vegetarian dishes — very clearly — but she brought out an arroz chaufa con pollo and a beef empanada. This was a big deal because my partner is vegetarian, and we had emphasized that when ordering.

We tried to get her attention politely, but were ignored for so long that we ended up finishing the rest of our food while the wrong plates sat untouched. Even the other staff avoided eye contact. When she finally returned, instead of apologizing, she dismissively asked, “Need the check?” We calmly explained the dishes were incorrect and that we had asked for no meat. She lied and said she had repeated the correct order back to us, which simply wasn’t true.

Instead of fixing it, she guilt-tripped us by saying, “Well, what do we do now? I can’t take them off or I’ll have to pay for it.” This level of unprofessionalism — making the customer feel bad for her mistake — is unacceptable. In the end, we were charged for two dishes we didn’t eat and left with empty stomachs and a terrible experience.

If the restaurant cares about its reputation, they need to address this kind of behavior. I’d hate for another customer to be treated the same way. Dining out should feel welcoming,...

Ordered delivery. As a Peruvian, I have to admit the Lomo Saltado wasn’t good. Meat was tough, French fries were dry, and to top it all off, there wasn’t that much juice inside either! I’d rather order from Jora, or better yet, any other Peruvian place in Sunnyside. Whoever’s the owner should consider getting a different cut of beef.

EDIT: Well, as long as I’ve been ordering, I’ve had lomo saltado come in two separate containers, one for the meat, onions, and tomatoes with juice, and one with rice and French fries. You could perhaps try doing that, so the condensation from the juice won’t make the fries soggy, and the rice won’t suck up any of it as well. Also, I’m guessing you haven’t had a chance to try your own hangar steak, since it was really tough to chew. Usually, hangar steak is more tender than skirt steak, but since they’re almost from the same cut of the cow (very similar), I would have maybe still ordered the hangar steak regardless if you actually gave the option to order skirt steak. There is no such option on delivery (I used ubereats), so that’s still not entirely helpful. My grandmother, who’s also Peruvian, did not approve of the lomo saltado as well. I think that says a lot, considering there’s always room for improvement. Im glad you appreciate my input because I don’t usually write reviews, however, I felt disappointed with my experience trying a well known Peruvian dish I...

I'm Peruvian, grew up in Peru, and have eaten in 50+ Peruvian restaurants in the states. I had such high hopes for this place. I read about the chef and saw pics of the food and couldn't wait for some amazing traditional food.

Service was great. No canchita, they serve chips? Huancaína sauce in the Papa A La Huancaína was complete flavorless, sent it back and I never send things back. Asked to have it replaced with the Aji De Gallina Empanadas and was warned that they use the same sauce. WHAT?! How is the sauce on your Papa A La Huancaína and your Aji De Gallina the same???

I read up on the executive chef and I have to imagine he's not aware that this is happening. Or that this sub-par product was being put out in his name. For his investigation I was in LIC for dinner at 6:30pm on Aug 7.

Anticuchos were well seasoned but dry. Lomo Saltado underwhelming. Alfajores wildly overpriced at $4.50 for not being spectacular.

This place has so many great reviews? What's happened here? Was I there on a bad night? Was the usual chef out sick? I live nearby and really wanted to love this place.

Also, stop charging a 5% credit card fee, it's tacky. Just raise your prices 5% and make the...
