My wife and I decided to spend ten days in Palm Springs in February, which is a peak time to visit. Previously we have stayed in Rancho Mirage, in a resort with a golf course (but we don't play golf), but found the accommodations there too expensive, and the nearest grocery store was about a ten minutes' drive; also, for us, Palm Springs is more interesting, with a great art museum, the Agua Caliente cultural centre, the Indian canyons to walk, public parks, an interesting main street, etc. ||We chose Vista Mirage largely because of Tripadvisor reviews. It's called a "resort" but it's short-term rentals of nice apartments plus a swimming pool: no restaurants, shops, special services, etc. But this was exactly what we wanted. Check-in was efficient and friendly; actually, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Our accommodation was on the second floor with a stairway up from the path next to the main swimming pool, which was a great location for us. (When we checked in , we were also offered a ground-floor apartment.) From the stairs, we entered a very small patio, then through the apartment door into a small hallway with an adequately supplied kitchen on the left (electric stove with oven, full-sized refrigerator, sink with garburator, microwave, coffee maker, tableware, pots and pans), and the second bedroom and bathroom on the right. Then the spacious main eating and living area is straight ahead (with a pass-through to the eating area from the kitchen), and then the main bedroom and bathroom to the right off the main living area. There are televisions in the main room and each bedroom, though we didn't find any channels that we wanted to watch. We found everything comfortable. It isn't elegant or fashionable, but that was fine. The main pool is lovely, and, when we were there, rather little used (except by us), though a fair number of people used the poolside to sit and read, or sun themselves. The pool water was usually a pleasantly warm temperature, although the heater was out for a couple of days. The small pool isn't so good for laps if anyone else is in it. There's a nice-looking tennis court which we didn't see anyone using. The landscaping (patches of lawn, a row of citrus trees along the large pool, etc.) is rather minimal but attractive and well kept. (On the Wednesdays there was VERY noisy lawnmowing for an hour or two at midday, which pretty well emptied the pool.) There's lots of free parking, either outside or in rather narrow covered stalls (which worried us about our side car mirrors). What we paid seemed fair for the size, comfort, and location of the property, and the time of year, although there seem to be similar properties with month-long rentals that are less expensive. The clientele was mostly older (like us) which made for a quiet holiday. ...

First, it is indicated in the rules and specify visibly in the pool, to put the music for oneself, obviously everyone will have ignored this, putting his music to the maximum! Desiring to rest quietly at the edge of the pool, this of course was not possible, everyone going there more beautiful to make us listen to his music. Add to that, the yells of some around the pool, the people who jump into the pool and sprinkle you with water while you try somehow to resist the urge to leave the place and you lock in the calm immediately because in addition to that, when you see some spit in front of your eyes in the pool and in addition, you found there feces near the jacuzzi ... And tired of all this, having paid so much to rest, we were treated to that! We reported all of these to the very annoying Breana, she asked us, of ourselves, go see people to ask them to stop these nuisances! It was therefore up to us to enforce the rules of this property in place of his staff yet paid for, it seems to me! I come every year to Palm Springs and this year I chose this place to please my mom and offer her a place to relax for Mother's Day and her birthday at the same time. I am deeply disappointed by the disastrous and unfriendly reception of this receptionist and all the other things I mentioned. So scrambling during the weekends that we spent recluse in our apartment can not absolutely enjoy the pools, music, howls, jumps in the pool as in a water park! People who smoke weed and when we ask nicely: "can you please intervene", we did not pay to undergo this, we answer you do it yourself! Normally the staff is supposed to ensure the calm, the cleanliness, it does not have our work! We did not pay for this place for so many disappointments! Bravo, it will be without...
Read moreFirst impressions are very important, and unfortunately for me and my family upon arriving to the resort we found that many of the expectations we had due to the fabulous reviews were not met at all. The reason I booked this resort was so that me and my family could relax away from home. Unfortunately on our first night we found a bug in our room with the 2 twin beds. It was a beetle looking bug and it was right on top of the bed next to where we set some of our things. I had to call the front immediately to which they told me that those bugs are currently populating the area and in their mating season. I explained to them that not once did I see a review about anyone having bugs in their room. The front desk receptionist eventually came up and sprayed the room with raid and left us with some raid in case the problem persists. In addition to the bug situation we also walked in to see trash left from previous guests. It was old takeout and the really annoying thing is there is no real maid staff so it just had to sit in our room over the weekend. Lastly I really did not think the hotel staff cared much about my experience. I did have a good experience with the front desk girl Eva, but she was the only one who really seemed to genuinely be concerned about our issues. I tried to explain some of the issues I was having to the manager David but it all seemed a bit dismissive. Not once did he even offer an apology for the what I had experienced. Maybe to some a bug isn’t a big deal but if I am paying nearly 500$ for 2 nights I want my children to at least be able to sleep peacefully and not have to worry about a roach crawling on them in their sleep. The hotel did offer to waive resort fees which are about $22 a night, but more than anything I just wanted the experience that I read about in the reviews, and unfortunately my family and I did...
