Beware of AvantStay! Stay Away
"Horrible experience causing us to end our Palm Springs - The Marley Hotel get-away early. We were forced to check out of the room after the first night because of the excessive non-stop construction noise next door and issues with the rooms:
Property next door and less than 15 feet' from the pool and common area in middle of major renovation and making non-stop all day construction and power tool noise making the pool and common area unusable. Noise could also be heard inside the room with all doors closed. We spoke to the local property manager Alisa and she was aware of the construction next store. AvantStay was obligated to alert the potentail guest of the noise but failed to notate in their VRBO profile ad listing.
Linens in both rooms were cheap Amazon Basics 100% Polyester were unusable and uncomfortable. Neither me or my wife were able to sleep because the sheets did not breath and were hot and scratchy. A $400-$800 / night room should have decent cotton sheets. We spoke to property manager Alisa and she confirmed the Amazon Basics 100% polyester sheets were our only option.
Rooms were dirty and linens had other people hair them.
VRBO add provided limited information on the room amenities and Avantstay misinformed us on the room amenities wasting our time and forcing us to lug a cooler to the rooms. Both rooms ended up having refrigerators.
We contacted Avantstay the same day and were told they would get back to us with 1-2 days regrading the refund. We waited 5 days and never heard back from them and wasted an hour on the phone trying to track down a manager at customer support department. Avantstaty refused a full refund only offering to refund the cleaning fee. They felt is was acceptable for their guest to listen to construction noise and did not feel it was their issue or obligation to alert potential guest. Read moreHad to cancel our wedding because of AvantStay. I booked a stay at The Marley Hotel for my wedding party for Nov 6-10, 2022. The reservation was made nearly a year in advance (in Nov 2021). I found out the night before our arrival that AvantStay (the property's management company) lost our booking and the hotel was actually already occupied with another party for the same dates. Because our booking was for our wedding party, the impact of their error resulted in us having to cancel our plans entirely -- after a year of planning all based on securing the dates at The Marley! Everything from our photographer to our catering was organized around our stay at the hotel and all our guests were from out of town. There was no way for us to find other accommodations on such short notice. To add insult to injury, the managers at AvantStay did not even feel bad or try to rectify the situation! No one from AvantStay called to apologize or offer to help. The customer service rep I spoke with on the phone initially was very kind but our situation called for more urgency and a direct, more personal response. Only after I reached out directly to the hotel owner did AvantStay finally reach out via text on Nov 10. They first offered a $500 coupon and then a $1000 credit for use on a future stay with them within the next year. Objectively, this does not come close to making things right. We had been beyond understanding up to this point and their 'offer' is truly a slap in the face. It does not even begin to acknowledge the immense inconvenience and absolute devastation that their error caused. Even if we wanted to rebook with them next year, their coupon/credit wouldn't even cover a night's stay (our original booking was for more than $10k for 4 nights)! I am truly shocked at the failure to take accountability and total lack of empathy. Do not give these people your business.
