I do not usually leave bad reviews, but this experience completely shocked me. My daughter and I did a search for ice cream near us when we were in Palm Springs. “Monster Shakes” can up with great reviews and pictures, we were excited to try it out as my military daughter just moved to the area from out of state. The moment we walked in, a middle aged man was spinning cotton candy. The place was entirely EMPTY (around 4pm - first clue). He did not greet or acknowledge us. For over 5 awkward minutes, we waited at the front counter for someone to assist us while the man stayed focus on spinning his large bucket of cotton candy. We hoped there was someone else in the back to assist, but it appeared that no one else was there. So, we patiently waiting for this guy who eventually spoke up from his cotton candy duties to inform is that we could “grab a bowl and serve ourselves” , referring to the Dole soft serve station. I told him, “No thank you, we are here for ice cream shakes.” Then after what seemed like another minute or two, he finished his cotton candy and went behind the counter. I asked him for a taste of one of the flavors - he quickly snapped back that they do NOT samples. What ice cream shop does not offer patrons sample(s)?! I doesn’t argue with him, I just said okay and ordered my two malts. As I waited for my daughter to make her selection, I was slightly leaning against the counter and right as I moved, I heard him say I’m a low voice (barely audible) “please don’t sit on our counter”. Are you kidding me? I had to of misheard this man because I would NEVER sit on a countertop in my home, much less in a public establishment! I looked back up at this squirrel of a man and said, “I’m sorry - what did you say?”. He replied, “Oh, I just said please don’t sit on our counters.”, in a most arrogant tone. I looked straight into his eyes and told him that I was NOT sitting on his counter and further more, I own a construction company and can guarantee that if I was, his corian countertops would be just fine. Ridiculous, someone was clearly put off by having to serve customers when he would rather spin cotton candy.
He then finished our malts, which we paid a few dollars extra to have the “malt added” (though the flavor was incredibly weak)…and he didn’t put a donut on either of them, even though the menu mentions donuts added and the receipt even showed it. So, I had the punk go back and grab the mini donuts to add them to our $10 medium malts.
My daughter wanted a shaved ice, but the machine is broken. So she ended up getting an inedible bowl of the pineapple dole. $5 wasted and thrown away after we arrived back at home.
The malts were nothing special and the experience was completely ruined by the jerk working there. I would have much rather spent my $26+ at Ben & Jerry’s where the workers are kind, courteous and actually give you a sample of their delicious product. Maybe the guy working at Monster Shakes should try something different if he is that unhappy…or maybe he is just...
Read moreUpdate: I have called every day since and they don't answer the phone. Domestic violence is not okay and slamming the food on the counter and trying to take it away from me like i'm the counter attendees child is highly abusive. I can't imagine that Their business is flourishing With this this type of atmosphere and customer service.
You should rename your store to abuser shakes
Last night I had stopped by after a harsh trip to the hospital. As I went to eat what I thought would be a pick me up as I wait for news from a close friend on their death bed, I figured I'd reply to a few messages.
As the only customer in the store that had ordered, a family came in. The attendant at the store called my order ( the only order ) only customer and I guess since I was on my phone the attendant got upset, maybe I didn't get up fast enough or something but I wanted to finish this 25sec text so after finishing as I got up to grab my order 3ft away this random kid raises his voice from the family and says " that's your order sir" I said dude, are you the counter conductor?
Please give me space, and I quoted " isn't it always a privileged kid that doesn't know how to mind their own business"
Apparently the attendee behind the counter. Thought it was his responsibility to take away my food and to yell at me and to tell me, the kid was only trying to help. I said am I not allowed to take my time to get my order. Is there a specific time allotment that I need to get up and grab my order? The food attendee apparently didn't know the answer to this and was very triggered. So he decided he was going to take out his frustration on my food. He grabbed it and squeezed it and made it leak over the sides in between his fingers and then slammed it back on the counter and told me to get out of the store. I thought this was pretty weird since I as a person. Have a right to sit in the store. Enter answer a personal text message while waiting for my food. It's not like I was up at the counter telling him to hurry up every second of the 10 minutes. It took him to make my acai bowl.
I don't mind if he ask me not to come back to the store, but taking my food and squeezing it And then slamming it on the counter while yelling at me is domestic violence and is assault. After the owner watches thus I'd like a response. This happened 7/18/2024 around...
Read moreFriday 3/7/25 Cathedral City. Horrible customer service. Rude. Argumentative. Disrespectful. Local here, with visiting family. Checked website for hours. Showed on several web locations open until 10:00 pm. Arrived at 9:05 pm. Both owners were there. Made special request, they were unable to do. Placed other large order items . They made the items. We sat down to eat the purchased items. At 9:30 one owner announced out loud it was 9:30 and they were closing. We thought it was like a last call type of announcement and continued eating. 5 minutes go by and he announced again it was 9:30 and we had to leave. They were closing. We said we thought they were open until 10, and we were not finished yet. He said they adjusted the time, what ever that means. He continues:”we have been here since 10 am” “we have a home to get to” “other places close at 8 pm”. He repeated we needed to get out. There was other customers, one in a walker, who just spent $60 and sat down to eat their item, and they had to leave as well. Owner was very willing to take money but not allow us or others to finish what was purchased. Never mentioned they were closing soon and we should get items to go. WILL NEVER RETURN AND NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. WILL GLADLY TELL AT LEAST 10 PEOPLE ABOUT THIS...
