Old City is such a beautiful and quaint place, and having a coffee shop on Race Street with a stunning view of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge is simply amazing. This gem is owned by two passionate individuals whose story makes stepping inside worthwhile.

The design is chic, modern, and clean with a European flair, creating a welcoming atmosphere that I truly enjoy. I’ve tried several pastries, all of which are made in-house and have been excellent. As a coffee enthusiast, I love exploring various spots throughout Philadelphia, and while I have my favorites, each cafĆ© brings its own unique charm to the neighborhood.

What sets this coffee shop apart is the opportunity to communicate directly with the owners. I enjoy our conversations, which often revolve around coffee. They are incredibly knowledgeable and share my appreciation for high-quality brews.

In the mornings, I can’t resist their cappuccino; it’s become my daily ritual. In the afternoons, I look forward to a delightful cortado. Despite having many options, I happily make the extra mile drive just for their exceptional coffee.

Supporting a small business that truly cares about quality and customer experience is a must. The owners take the time to explain their bean selections and matcha choices, showing their dedication to their clientele. If you’re in Old City or even if you’re not, this coffee shop is a must-try for anyone who appreciates...

Coffee - I live and die for coffee, so coffee must be first part of this review!!! This place has one of the best coffee around! Trust me, I've tried them all around the city! They use special blend of coffee from Germany, super tasty and unique! Ask about their FLAT WHITE!!! YOU WON'T REGRET!

Pastry - start with those cookies under the glass dome. They taste soooo good, must try peanut butter cookie... just simply cannot stop myself when my wife gets 1...... or 2... or 3... (who is counting, right?) Their other pastries are all super yummy, too! Always great for a quick bite!

People - nicest couple you will ever meet! Owners Layla and Mustafa are super friendly and funny! If you have any needs or questions, they will help you to the best satisfaction. Keep in mind, like all other small business, they are sometimes training new employees. But the owners are always there for help with anything and improve on all feedback!

Atmosphere and environment - comfortable seating area with elegant decorations where you see a lot of people using their laptops there constantly. My wife and I would sit there and hang out sometimes.

Overall, if you come in try their coffee and grab some pastry, you...

I’ve been to this cafĆ© before and really enjoyed the matcha so I was looking forward to coming back. But after my most recent visit, I left feeling really uncomfortable and disappointed.

After picking up my drink, I planned to stay for a bit since there was open seating. As I turned to find a spot, the barista looked at the open door and said, ā€œCan you close the door when you leave?ā€ I hadn’t said I was leaving, and it felt like I wasn’t even seen as someone who might stay and enjoy the space like other customers. It was awkward and made me feel out of place.

It may seem like a small comment, but it struck me as a subtle microaggression, one that I couldn’t ignore. Especially in today’s climate, these moments matter. They shape whether people feel welcome, safe, and respected.

I didn’t say anything in the moment because I was already uncomfortable, but I left with a bad feeling. It’s disappointing, because I used to enjoy coming here. Now I’m not...

Brand new since this past Monday, in December 2023- After living abroad, I am always looking for the best European coffee house in any city I live in. Yes, I’m totally spoiled and if you love Starbucks, I invite you to look at what do you think Coffee is. In any case, Layla and her sister Fonda are the new owners of this luxurious European coffee shop. It’s upscale, it’s accommodating, they care so much that they even had handmade coffee cups curated for you’re drinking experience! And I am happy to report, at this moment, they are THE BEST Cafe and Philadelphia. The pastries look great, although we didn’t get a chance to try them, but we will next visit, and I will be frequenting this place with my husband, Michael, constantly. It’s gorgeous, elegant and 100% what I was searching in Philly. Welcome to Philadelphia and the neighborhood, fresh from Germany. These two sisters are getting it right! Congratulations! ā˜•ļø

Coffee zeit is a currently trending spot online so obviously I had to check out the hype. The strawberry matcha is a very pretty drink! The matcha is a nice deep green, but the flavor of the matcha itself isn’t as earthy has I’d hope for. For a nice neutral tasting matcha, I think I’d prefer it on its own without the fruit purĆ©e. My bf ordered a hot pour over that was served on a tray. Just like the rest of the shop, it was presented very nicely, and the flavor was light and fruity. The coffee shop ambiance is best described as minimalistic with tne ā€œ cleanā€ aesthetic. While the shop was very loud and crowded, I think I’d prefer to visit on a weekday for a bit of a more relaxed feel while they’re gaining popularity. Overall, everything was pleasant.
