On October 21, 2025 at approximately 4:00PM, I arrived to check in at the Baymont Hotel - Wyndham located in North Phoenix at 10210 N. 26th Drive, Phoenix, AZ. I also should mention that for whatever it's worth, I am a Wyndham Rewards Member since 2019 and I have stayed in many of the hotels in this area. That being said, the reservation I booked was booked with my reward POINTS AND CASH.
I pulled up to the hotel and walked into the front lobby area and was met by a woman (because I do not have her name, I remember her to be a rather large black woman, appearing older than her age) at the front desk who appeared to be an employee of the hotel. As I walked in, she made eye contact with me, but was unable to even welcome me to the hotel because she was on a phone call, which I gathered was a personal call. I approached the desk and she stated, "ID Please." I handed her my ID and she started what appeared to be the check in process. Her attitude, both with her body language and her verbal tone, was condescending, disrespectful and very concerning. After a few brief moments of a conversation back and forth about the reservation, I finally let her know that I was not a chump. It seemed as if she was making a judgement about who I am as a person based on my physical appearance. I wear a baseball hat, I have full sleeves of tattoos. I wore shorts and a t-shirt and maybe she didn't feel that I should stay there. Without knowing what she was thinking, maybe she assumes that I am racist or prejudice. Not sure. But I had enough of the attitude and I told her so. She immediately said something like, "Ok I'm done. Im cancelling your reservation." I explained to her that I had been driving and dealing with a situation in my life and she was unable to see that I might have been having a bad day. I asked her not to cancel it and she refused. What a poor way to handle a deescalation situation with a guest. She displayed no people skills, no compassion, no kindness and it was quite obvious that she definitely did not do much besides sit on that chair all day long, without any exercise, talking on the phone and being disrespectful to the guests.
I left the office and returned to my car and it was then that I learned why she had the attitude with me. About 15 minutes prior to my arrival, my traveling companion had arrived at the hotel and entered the lobby to wait for me to arrive. He explained that she told him to get out of the lobby, and that no single person could be in there at that time waiting for anyone. He told me that he explained to her that he was waiting for me and she did not care and told him to leave or security would be called. Understandably, he became upset and exchanged words with her. I had no knowledge of this, but she definitely could have handled both situations much differently. Again, no people skills, no communication skills, but no movement from the chair where she attempted to bark orders at him.
She needs training. She needs to learn how to communicate with people especially if she is going to work in a customer service position. I would never even allow this person to be the front desk position of ANYTHING that had my name on it. She is definitely not bringing in customers, she's pushing them away. Why was the lobby off limits? Makes no sense. Why not explain why the lobby was closed. Sometimes a little kindness will go a long way. Snap out of it. If I were her, I would find out how I could start a personal health plan with exercise so that I can feel better about myself and in turn, I can pass that on to those I come in contact with. Baymont Hotels - not your best choice.
Now the points that were taken from my account - I want them back as she cancelled the reservation on her own unnecessarily. Let's make...
Read moreI had the extreme displeasure of staying at this property on the night of on October 11-12 2024. This is a hotel that supposedly has been recently renovated. It sure doesn't seem like it.||||Room 310 is in a disgusting state. The linens and bathroom were clean, thankfully, but everything else was disgusting. The carpet is absolutely vile, and I did not want to walk on it without shoes on. The nightstand is falling apart and the formica veneer is peeling so badly that I almost sliced my hand in the middle of the night while reaching for my phone. The nightstand top also wasn't cleaned and there was a sticky ring from a beverage left behind. The deadbolt in the door would not lock and the door jamb was missing, which was probably the cause of the deadbolt not locking. Someone stuffed toilet paper in the peephole, and housekeeping missed that, as well. See attached photos. I have a video of the deadbolt, but apparently Tripadvisor does not allow videos.||||There was not even a laundry bag to put dirty clothes in. It seems that your linens are cleaned, but absolutely zero attention to detail is paid to other portions of the room.||||I could see the room being worth $50, but not the $153 I was charged. I think a lower quality Super 8 would have been a better choice, but obviously didn't know that until after checking in. I expect some money back to compensate for the extremely poor experience.||||The hotel was also in violation of Phoenix Fire Code. This violation was later verified and confirmed by the Phoenix Fire Marshal after I filed a complaint with them. The Fire Marshal claimed the hotel blamed it on the "recent remodel" ... but again, nothing looks like it was remodeled?||||Also, deposits are supposed to be held as pending pre-authorizations, NOT charged as an actual charge to the card.||||Complaining to the front desk staff yields zero results. They just give the manager's business card. But, the manager's email address on the business card is "Baymontazgm@gmail.com", not an official branded one. That is very unprofessional.||||Sending complaints to the manager at the address on her card got no response. Sending a complaint to Wyndham Corporate got a canned auto-response with no followup and nothing addressing the actual issues.||||AVOID THIS HOTEL!||||Side note ... how many of the 5-star reviews seem fake to you? A ton... and Yelp has this hotel at a 1.9, while Tripadvisor has it at...
Read moreI had concerns coming into this hotel because the I-17 can be a very skeezy area with homelessness and looking dirty. Coming off the freeway, I had to drive a couple blocks to get to the hotel and the route and hotel parking lot are clean and well lit.
Reading previous reviews I was also concerned as to what I was going to walk into; I was very pleased with what I saw. The lobby area is very cute with a sitting area and refreshment station available 24/7.
My room was clean, didn't smell, good A/C system, the bed was beyond comfortable, and I'm pretty sure the pillows are made out of clouds. I haven't slept as well as I did in a long time and I wanted to sneak this bedset out in my suitcase because it was so comfortable. lol! The fridge is too good, you may want to check the setting because max cold will freeze items on the main shelf. There's a coffee maker and microwave (both I did not use).
The shower has Dove products and the softest water. Your hair and skin will thank you for showering here, but be careful, their hot water is hot and their cold is cold. I'm pretty sure it could boil ramen the water is so hot, but also make cube chunk ice because the cold is that cold. It was a fantastic plumbing system and I miss it. The door is kind of inconvenient in the restroom, so you may need to close it for everything you do in there.
Breakfast was good (6AM - 9AM). An easy pick up of fruits, cereal, yogurt, bagels/bread, danishes and muffins (change daily), juice, waffle iron (normal large or 4 mini), and eggs with (changes daily). One day I had cheese omelet and bacon, scrambled eggs and potatoes, and scrambled eggs and sausage.
There's an indoor pool (I didn't use).
Staff was really nice, I think I was greeted by all members (I think four different people) when I came in.
I know a hotel standard is that doors need to self-shut, but I was unfortunate to be there on a convention weekend, so at 5am, there were multiple doors slamming shut, so that's something to consider if you're a light sleeper.
Location is convenient to get around the Phoenix area. Location and staff made my...
