Melinda’s Alley - speakeasy hidden in the basement of the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel 3.) 13th Floor Rooftop Bar - secret elevator entrance & view of the Phoenix skyline 4.) Valley Bar - underground bar with a game room, comedy shows & live music 5.) Bitter & Twisted - considered one of the best 50 bars in North America 6.) I ordered an old fashioned and Laura pastor drinks. Reasonable prices but underwhelming as far as speakeasies go. The entry is in an alley, that's the speakeasy element to it so it's not really cool or imaginative with entry. The decor and ambiance isn't "date night worthy" which kinda defeats the purpose of being a speakeasy. Then again, this isn't as expensive as your normal speakeasy either which redeems it. It actually has a happy hour too. Most if not all speakeasies never have a happy hour. Drinks here are basic when it comes to a real speakeasy. If it's a regular bar, then it's above the rest but then why is the entrance down an alley and kinda hidden? Valley bar is like a tweener. Stuck between a dive bar and a speakeasy. It'd be better served choosing one and going all in.

What rad little local spot this is. It’s underground and fantastic to descend into. Alison is very fun, and an excellent bartender! She is also very very aware of her bar and handles high volume crowds with a super hero like ease. Thank you for my back to back cosmos Alison, you make this space upbeat, welcoming and awesome! Noah has also been very very great at making the best Cosmopolitan with his special energy being infused with it! Thank you Noah! OLIVIA tho OMG : what a wonderful soul! She has a loving respect for others and makes us feel included and attended to. I’m grateful for our talks about Mexico and respecting the man generations that came before. Thank you Valley Bar for hiring people like Olivia! She’s a sorceress!

It’s always a hit or miss. The first couple of times I’ve been here I felt like I had finally found the “vibes” I had been searching for in my 20’s. The last couple times I’ve been were so disappointing. The music is super lack luster, maybe it was the DJ these past two times but it was all beats and nothing else, and don’t expect to hear anything you know and love right now (no Chappell, no Sabrina, no Taylor, no Billie, no Charli, no Olivia literally nothing popular right now), and if they did sample something it was just to get everybody to the dance floor and then it would be back to just mixed beats. Might be cool for some but def not my vibe. People police the air vents on the dance floor like they personally pay rent for them and it makes it hard for the air to cool the room. The staff yells at you for everything. I got separated from my group a couple of times and every time I tried to take a single second to look for them before 2-3 employees rudely told me I could not stand there. No matter where I was around the place, I kept getting told I was not allowed to stand there. It can get very overwhelming in here on busy nights and it doesn’t help when you’re stressed looking for your friends and you have all of the employees breathing down your neck about where your standing. Bartenders are also incredibly rude as well. There is 1 or 2 nice ones but I’ve never had the pleasure of being helped by them. Bulldogs with bottle openers. The women’s bathroom is always always horrendous (the vibes in there too, as a women you know how it is to mingle and have “girl time” while you’re waiting in life for the bathroom, none of that here. Everybody is always incredibly rude. Not their fault, but I think it helps gauge the atmosphere) it felt like I was peeing in a lake there was so much water on the floor it was a struggle to keep my clothes off the floor when trying to use the bathroom. Valley Bar has sooooooooooooo much potential and it sucks to see it be wasted like this. I no longer pitch this place to my friends for a night out and if we end up here it is...

The bartender does not know her drinks and claims I was rude. When I spend money I would like my drink to be made as asked. When I asked her to taste my drink, she tasted the wrong one and said it was right. Then when I asked for the manager, the manager pulled me outside saying I was being disrespectful and told me the bartenders didn't want to serve me anymore to have a good night. The manager did NOT offer an apology, ask how the issue could be fixed, simply said her bartender was wrong for tasting the drink she shouldn't have done that. But that was all, head of security said we could come back tomorrow. As a manager why not offer to correct the issue. I just wanted the drink made as I asked, which it was not. Instead said I'll refund you the money and you can enjoy the rest of your night. I asked if I could at least go in and let my sister know we were being asked to leave, security told me no that nobody can go back in, it's last call and she should be coming out soon. But when abother man walked out asked him a question, told him once you are out that's it, but the man walked back in the building and security said ok well stay in. But I was not allowed to go back. Same rule should apply. I was not drunk, I was never rude, and only wish they offered to make it right. I went to the same bartender the 2x we ordered but somehow the other one also i was rude to her as well. Anyone who knows me, I am the most passive and least confrontational person but they made me upset and I will NEVER go again. Future plans there have been canceled and I am letting everyone I know to not go here. Poor management and bartending skills. Also, bartender wanted to charge me $15 for a cup of ice water because they have places around the bar with water for you to get yourself, but the water is not cold, no ice and the place by the table we were at was empty. I shouldn't have to walk around looking for water when you have it on tap at the bar. It's...

The worst experience I’ve ever had at a bar. The moment we walked in we went to a corner next to a table near the bathroom. My group was against the wall and we got asked to move for a walk way which we were not in the way whatsoever. We moved closer to the wall and it apparently still wasn’t good enough. We moved to the other side which no traffic flow was until all the bartenders decided to come over to that side and other staff was standing there staring at us as if they were sending the staff to our corner to make us uncomfortable. It was completely disrespectful and rude. We made sure to move each time they had to put cups on the bar and the staff would put the cups down and say rude comments to us and walk back over to the other staff in the other corner to talk about our group. We did nothing but move the whole time out of the areas and it seemed as though we weren’t welcomed in the bar at all. I am completely disgraced by the customer service there and if you cannot handle more than 80 people in your establishment it shouldn’t be a bar downtown. I went up the guy that seemed to be facilitating the whole thing and told him that I would be contacting the manager the next day and he said that’s fine and he told me to get out. The other guy that was involved was a black guy with dreads and the original guy that we dealt with was a Mexican guy with dreads. The other girl that originally spoke to us was a white girl. I am absolutely disgusted with this place considering the great tome I was having before being completely ridiculed on our way out as well. I will never be returning to this bar because of the terrible staff. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had in a...
