I wanted to give this 5/5 but our experience began with ...well, total BS. We drove 4 hours to this location to stay 3 nights (Mon check-in - Thurs checkout). We arrived a few minutes before 4PM which is their (strict) check-in time.
NOT THE FAULT OF THE RED ROOF... That first night, and the remainder of our stay, we were reminded of why carpeting isn't so bad in multi-storied hotel rooms. There was a Family above us with 3 children. I have 3 grown children but I remember what it's like trying to help them be mindful of other guests. It's like herding squirrels. What it sounded like up there was a free-for-all. CONSTANT BANGING, THUMPING, BUMPING, HARD FOOTSTEPS RUNNING, beginning at 6AM. It OFTEN sounded like they were rearranging the furniture. We slept in on vacation 0 mornings. It was ridiculous. Again, I get it. But this was BAD. I could have called the Front Office but they had been consistently unfriendly and dismissive and I didn't see what they were going to do. The last day we were there, it was so busy that the Front Desk Lady couldn't take care of any of the other tasks such as coffee or breakfast items running low because so many people were checking out. There didn't seem to be back up for her. As such, My Husband had to go down to the convience store to get coffee.
Other Tips: **Bring extra towels - they are weird about their towels. **Bring dollars and quarters if you plan to use laundry or vending. The soda machine has a debit card insert but nothing else. No change machine. ** Bring a smallish broom. The floors often feel gritty like they had not been swept. That's just a given with the Coast. Sand. Everywhere. ** If you like pillows, bring some with you. They offer two a piece on the King bed and they aren't even King sized nor are they in any way comfortable. They are close to being flat. ** While a room downstairs saves you a trek... It might be worth it if you...
Read moreThis hotel stay started out in the worst possible way!! The lady at checkin would not check me in without my husband whose name was on the account, he was going to be arriving the following day, so she requested he call to confirm details even though i had a copy of his license, the confirmation email with confirmation number but no she insisted he call. He called & was asked to verify his phone number which he did & immediately she said no that is not it & told him if he didnt have correct information she was not checking me in, he gave her the number slower in case she didnt hear it correctly & again said no, she stated the phone number started with 222.....come to find out that was the zip code for where we lived. She still refused to check me in & told my husband that he needed to add my name to the reservation thru expedia & my husband tried to explain that this was set up thru a corporate account & could not add me but that when reservations were made he was told i just needed copy of confirmation email & copy of his license. She rudely told him no at which time my husband was starting to get upset as this had already been going on for about 15 min. She then slammed her phone down & proceeded to yell at me that my husband was very rude & she was not going to be talked to in that way & continued to yell at me & embarrass me in the lobby, my family was there to witness all this, i apologized & asked if she could give me a minute while i tried to figure something out & she said no, that she was not going to be talked too that way & again proceeded to yell!! after about 30-45 min she went ahead & checked me in after her receiving a phone call. So got our room, she rattled off a list of rules but she had a strong Indian accent & she was talking very fast & did not understand half of what she said. i just wanted to get the hell out of the office. the next day i noticed our rooms hadnt been cleaned so i called the office told her what room i was in (same Indian lady from day before) she again proceeded to be very rude and told me too bad that since i didnt request to have my room clean it was my fault, didnt want to argue so i said ok. i sent my son n law to get some towels she asked what room & once she realized the towels were for our room she said "i already told that lady NO TOWELS!!" my son n law was mortified as she yelled at him. I have never been treated this way by any hotel employee ever!!! As much as we paid for 2 nights which was almost $600.00 i'd expect that we should have at least been given towels. This lady named nassi or tassie or whatever her name is was the most rudest ugliest person i have ever had to deal with!!! Needless to say my husbands company will be removing this hotel from their list of hotels that they use for trips to Port Aransas. This lady just ruined our trip & couldnt wait to get the hell out...
