Staying in Port Aransas in the off season has many perks and one is a very affordable stay. Ocean’s Edge Hotel far exceeded all expectations and was but a couple blocks from the beach. ((The Finesse)) After ((BEDBUGS)) ISSUE#2 So after taking my shower from feeling scratchy & uncomfortable after the bedbugs , I went to take a towel off the rack & it just fell off , & all I could think is , is this a scam so they can keep my $100 deposit ? Last thing I wanted to do was leave it or tell them , & lose $100 after I just got disrespected & left uncomfortable by the bedbugs , so I put it back looked around & all the racks were faulty , something’s didn’t work as well , like the vent in the restroom & the walls in the restroom didn’t seem glued down all the way , but overall I felt I needed to leave this review so they don’t try & scan anybody out of money , for taking a towel that they provide you with off of the towel rack , I was very disappointed with my stay here , honestly didn’t approach the manger myself cause he seemed very sketchy , & easy to blow things out of proportion or turn the tables , so just be careful with their faulty rooms & the bed bugs !! Stay safe guys

I almost want a gate keep this place but that's not my style. It's absolutely amazing dog friendly have a place for your pet. They also rent golf carts right on the property makes it super convenient! The rooms are clean and comfortable!! A BBQ to use..water hose to rinse off.. they offered daily maid service which I turned down and just borrowed a broom but they still checked on me!! The staff....I just cant say enough!! The only downside is the washer and dryer was not working at the property but the little laundromat was just a block away and I actually enjoyed going there as well they treated me amazing! The breakfast is delicious and hot breakfast. Each morning there was sausage eggs potatoes then of course all the other things you expect... cereals waffles even muffins baked fresh! Coffee juices. I will be back!!

I wanted to give this 5/5 but our experience began with ...well, total BS. We drove 4 hours to this location to stay 3 nights (Mon check-in - Thurs checkout). We arrived a few minutes before 4PM which is their (strict) check-in time.

  • We tried for a 3PM check-in on their site and My Husband got a rather cheeky email back saying - FOUR PM, PERIOD. I'm summarizing... We were told our room was not ready. We had already gone to the grocery store and had perishables in the car. The Lady behind the counter was a bit snotty and said, "Check-in time IS 4PM." Glancing at my watch revealed the time to be 3:59PM. She looked at her computer screen and became apologetic and said we could leave our number with her and she would call when it was ready. The perishables were in the ice chest . . . How long could it be? We went to the beach and sat in our chairs and waited. 4:30 rolled by. 4:45. I said that if they had not called by 5, I was calling. My Husband said, "Let's give them until 5:30?" He is far more patient. It's not that I hate the ocean. I 💙 it, deeply. I just like it better in a swimsuit. I like it better when we have perishables in the fridge in the room we paid for to be available at 4PM. 5:30PM came and went and I called. The response I got? "Oh! Sorry! It's been ready I just forgot... I figured you were at the beach and didn't want to bother you!" 😐😐😐😐 Our room was lovely. Hardwood flooring. Decent bed. Nice big TV. COLD A/C. Truly a great room! Very pretty. And very reasonably priced!! The outdoor amenities were awesome!! Every night we were there we loved the comfortable and very chill atmosphere outside. We grabbed a Cabana type thing and enjoyed lounging about while we grilled. It kept our food cost down, which was nice. They say everything is about LOCATION: It is also very centrally located. Everything you may need is just around the corner. No, it's not on the beach. But the beach is really right around the corner.

NOT THE FAULT OF THE RED ROOF... That first night, and the remainder of our stay, we were reminded of why carpeting isn't so bad in multi-storied hotel rooms. There was a Family above us with 3 children. I have 3 grown children but I remember what it's like trying to help them be mindful of other guests. It's like herding squirrels. What it sounded like up there was a free-for-all. CONSTANT BANGING, THUMPING, BUMPING, HARD FOOTSTEPS RUNNING, beginning at 6AM. It OFTEN sounded like they were rearranging the furniture. We slept in on vacation 0 mornings. It was ridiculous. Again, I get it. But this was BAD. I could have called the Front Office but they had been consistently unfriendly and dismissive and I didn't see what they were going to do. The last day we were there, it was so busy that the Front Desk Lady couldn't take care of any of the other tasks such as coffee or breakfast items running low because so many people were checking out. There didn't seem to be back up for her. As such, My Husband had to go down to the convience store to get coffee.

Other Tips: **Bring extra towels - they are weird about their towels. **Bring dollars and quarters if you plan to use laundry or vending. The soda machine has a debit card insert but nothing else. No change machine. ** Bring a smallish broom. The floors often feel gritty like they had not been swept. That's just a given with the Coast. Sand. Everywhere. ** If you like pillows, bring some with you. They offer two a piece on the King bed and they aren't even King sized nor are they in any way comfortable. They are close to being flat. ** While a room downstairs saves you a trek... It might be worth it if you...

This hotel stay started out in the worst possible way!! The lady at checkin would not check me in without my husband whose name was on the account, he was going to be arriving the following day, so she requested he call to confirm details even though i had a copy of his license, the confirmation email with confirmation number but no she insisted he call. He called & was asked to verify his phone number which he did & immediately she said no that is not it & told him if he didnt have correct information she was not checking me in, he gave her the number slower in case she didnt hear it correctly & again said no, she stated the phone number started with 222.....come to find out that was the zip code for where we lived. She still refused to check me in & told my husband that he needed to add my name to the reservation thru expedia & my husband tried to explain that this was set up thru a corporate account & could not add me but that when reservations were made he was told i just needed copy of confirmation email & copy of his license. She rudely told him no at which time my husband was starting to get upset as this had already been going on for about 15 min. She then slammed her phone down & proceeded to yell at me that my husband was very rude & she was not going to be talked to in that way & continued to yell at me & embarrass me in the lobby, my family was there to witness all this, i apologized & asked if she could give me a minute while i tried to figure something out & she said no, that she was not going to be talked too that way & again proceeded to yell!! after about 30-45 min she went ahead & checked me in after her receiving a phone call. So got our room, she rattled off a list of rules but she had a strong Indian accent & she was talking very fast & did not understand half of what she said. i just wanted to get the hell out of the office. the next day i noticed our rooms hadnt been cleaned so i called the office told her what room i was in (same Indian lady from day before) she again proceeded to be very rude and told me too bad that since i didnt request to have my room clean it was my fault, didnt want to argue so i said ok. i sent my son n law to get some towels she asked what room & once she realized the towels were for our room she said "i already told that lady NO TOWELS!!" my son n law was mortified as she yelled at him. I have never been treated this way by any hotel employee ever!!! As much as we paid for 2 nights which was almost $600.00 i'd expect that we should have at least been given towels. This lady named nassi or tassie or whatever her name is was the most rudest ugliest person i have ever had to deal with!!! Needless to say my husbands company will be removing this hotel from their list of hotels that they use for trips to Port Aransas. This lady just ruined our trip & couldnt wait to get the hell out...
