I went in with my partner and our dog on the weekend to try this place. We had driven past a few times, and as people new to the area, we wanted to try local food before chain food. We went in, almost immediately, a guy came from behind the counter, pointing at us, saying “that dog can’t be in here”. She was being held in the arms of my partner, not even on the ground. I responded “we’re going to take her outside” (per their website dogs are allowed in the outside pavement area), and he responded “you have to leave the restaurant and come in through the back” which is around the block. So we did. I was almost thrown off to not even want to eat here based on that rude interaction (in many cultures, pointing is rude). And in no way does it say on the website that people with dogs must enter through the back. It says that dogs are allowed on the pavement only. He didn’t say hi, welcome to the restaurant, etc. It was just the point and “that dog can’t be in here”. I’m honestly glad I had a moment to cool off after that because I could have reacted very differently if not. Ok. Anyway. On to the food. When ordering, I knew that I wanted to drink a beer. The menu is large and electronic above the cashier stand. I didn’t immediately recognize the beer list. When I asked the girl at the register, she gave a snarky response about it being right above the register and once again, pointed. We ordered two hot dogs, an appetizer of buffalo chicken dip, a beer on draft, and an orange soda, which came to almost $50. The food was completely meh. The best part about the hot dog was the Texas toast style bun. The chicken dip came with tortilla chips that broke so easily they could barely hold any of the dip. Nothing was so flavorful (other than the beer) that we will return. It’s really disappointing to have to leave a review like this, but after seeing other’s poor/similar experiences, it makes sense that this was our experience as well. Probably won’t...

If there is zero star of rating, I definitely will give zero. Sadly to say, but this is our last stop in Maine, and this nightmare experience totally ruined our whole trip.

I ordered “takeout” from TOAST App 1.5 hr ahead. I don’t mind to wait in restaurant for another 30min to get my food. I don’t mind the waitress said she was too busy to answer me. I also don’t mind they wrapped the food looks like worth $1 and messed up all the sauces. But a staff member‘s rudeness totally ruined our trip and our day!

I ordered sausage sampler and asked if they could served bread with it, because I browsed some review photo that they could serve like that with hotdog bun. Of course I don’t mind to pay for it. So I tipped 15% ($8.85) for takeout. He said he gave the buns for free, I appreciated for that, but he forgot to grab soda within my order. When I went back and asked for soda, this staff member was angry and yelled loudly to us in restaurant “I GAVE YOU BREAD FOR FREE AND NOW YOU ASK FREE SODA!!” Of course, all the customers were astonished and were staring at us. I was shocked and have never ever had such experience of being treated unjustly and rudely in any restaurants and in my life. Until I showed him receipt with soda to prove that I have paid for it, he still didn’t say or show any sorry for his rudeness.

I don’t know what happened on him on that day but definitely he needs basic trainings to be a qualified waiter. 100% disappointed for the service, 100% not recommend to friends and 100% will...

I'm late posting this as it was well over a year ago but oh well. I had just moved here from out of state and discovered this seemingly amazing place with these creative hotdogs and bratwursts and gorgeous seating area outside. I was looking forward to becoming a regular and eventually trying everything on the menu and repeating my favoties. I came back about a month after that initial visit. I arrived at 7:25pm!!!! Their "closing" time was 8PM!!!!! The restaurant was open but no customers inside, only a few employees who were cooking food but told me they were closed. After some debate over the confusion about their posted closing time and being open, I was denied service. I called the next day to complain to the owners. To my surprise they defended this stating their "smart" employees close early if business is slow. Ok. Let me get this straight, in the lifetime of a restaurant you are willing to miss out on potentially tens of thousands of dollars possibly more by turning away no telling how many people when it suits you??? Yes,...

If you are new to Portland, ME and hanging out in Old Port, The Thirsty Pig is a great spot to gather your bearings, grab a bite to eat and some local beer. My family and friends who visit Portland all use "The Thirsty" as a base for our adventures. The location is convenient to a ton of hotels and a quick walk or Uber ride to the East or West Ends. The food menu is full of fun and inventive items - get the Pickletizer or a Pub Pretzel to start. Add a hotdog or two, this weekend we had a Reuben Dog and a hotdog with Mac & Cheese topped with Dorito dust!! Their house-made sausages do not disappoint either with rotating seasonal flavors. The taps are always from the best and brightest Maine, Vermont and New England brewers. For a chill atmosphere, friendly service, a big outdoor deck and great food and beer - go to The Thirsty Pig.

We were a little disappointed by the food here. Some of the hotdogs listed on the menu were not available and the ones we did order were pretty average and overpriced. The buffalo chicken dip had a small chicken bone in it and was served with cheap tortilla chips for $10. The soft pretzel was decent, but did not come with cheese, only music. We were happiest with our $3 spiked seltzers. The girl who waited on us was also not very friendly and seemed a bit annoyed when we had to hurry up and change our hot dog order because the ones we wanted they did not have. We did like the 90s hip hop music and the man who brought our food out was very friendly as was another man that greeted us when we arrived. Cute atmosphere too, just think the apps could use a little work and lower the prices just a bit.
