(If you're experiencing de ja vu: yes, I left the same review on Yelp.)
If you're looking for someone to breathe down your neck and wait on you hand and foot, go find an overpriced hotel. But if you, like me, just want a lovely place to crash after a busy day of touring Commercial Street and Provincetown and can appreciate the quiet serenity of keeping your own hours and staying in a place that feels like a true home away from home, then Snug Cottage is the best. It's so good, I almost want to keep it a secret from everyone!
Tim (owner) and Docus (housekeeper) are the best hosts you could ask for; they have everything ready for you when you arrive and leave you alone to enjoy your relaxing weekend getaway or vacation. When we arrived, Tim was at a conference and left us a lovely note with our keys, wifi password, and directions to our rooms. In case we needed him, he also left us his cellphone number and was extremely responsive the couple of times we did reach out needing his assistance. (I know some reviewers said that they called and Tim didn't pick up. Well, the guy does have a life, guys. So if you're smart, just text him. He'll respond pretty fast if not immediately and will follow up with a phone call if needed. Welcome to the 21st century where texting is a thing!)
The three biggest takeaways for those considering Snug?
Breakfast: It's not a restaurant so don't expect a 5 star buffet with eggs benedict, etc. It's a nice continental breakfast. There may not be a lot of options (read: mainly toast, bagels, muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, cereal, coffee, milk, juice, tea) but personally, I'd prefer fewer options of high quality than a massive spread with nothing edible. Snug is the former, not the latter. If you need a "hungry man's" breakfast, nibble a little at Snug and then head a block down to the many breakfast restaurants on Commercial Street.
Rooms: what you see on the website is accurate. Keep in mind that it's an old captain's cottage converted into a bed and breakfast so you have the modern amenities, but historical preservation is also a huge part of the experience. Personally, I found Snug Cottage to be absolutely dreamy.
Location: Simply cannot be beat. You are a block up from Commercial Street which is right on the water. It's removed enough to be quiet, but close enough to everything you need. The porch has an AMAZING view.
tl;dr: Absolutely spectacular stay and we are already looking forward to...
Read moreMy wife and I recently took a mini-honeymoon trip to Provincetown, and stayed at Snug Cottage, and we already cannot wait to go back. ||||First, the details: There is parking directly across the street, and check in was a breeze. We stayed in the Bristol suite, which included a comfy bed, a fireplace (with wood, newspaper, and lighter), a nice sized sitting area with a couch, coffee table, and TV, and a 3-sided window seat. There were plenty of windows so the in-room air conditioning was not always needed, but worked wonderfully when it was. The bathroom was clean and had all the amenities one would expect from a hotel stay, and a couple more (don't typically get toothpaste and mouthwash where I stay). ||||The proprietors are incredibly friendly, and while our interactions with them were brief as we were constantly on the go, we could tell they pour their passion into the cottage and guest experience. When we arrived they ensured our fridge was stocked, including a bottle of white wine. There is also a Nespresso machine, though we did not need to use it. Breakfast was brought to the room each morning, and included a jar of oatmeal, yogurt, orange juice, and pastries. ||||This was definitely a house converted to an inn, but it gives the place a very comfortable feel, and does not lack for any of the cleanliness, service, or amenities one would expect in a regular hotel. We were thrilled with it.||||As for location, it is an easy walk to just about anywhere in town. Commercial St is just a couple blocks away. We only needed a car to get to the beach. Otherwise, walking was no hassle. ||||In short, this is a lovely cottage in a perfect location and we felt taken care of the whole time. 10/10 will stay again, and cannot...
Read moreWe stayed in P-Town for a short 2 night getaway, and we are so happy we found the Snug Cottage.
The owners were super welcoming and hospitable, they moved us into a larger room with a beautiful view of the water, and helped us get checked in early. They also provided access to beach towels, chairs, and bug spray.
The Inn itself and the rooms are absolutely beautiful, lovingly restored. The building truly is the ideal of a heritage building. With all the character and history of an older home, but with modern amenities like fully working AC via mini-split in the rooms. The beds are also truly comfortable, a rare find when staying away from home.
Continental breakfast each morning was delicious, with pastries, yogurt, granola, fruits and coffee all easy to come and grab. A little side garden area provides a perfect place to eat while planning the day.
There was also a secluded bike rack to the side of the building. The location is one street up from Commercial, so it's easy to walk down into the main hub of P-Town, but the separation means at night it's quiet without nightlife or traffic interfering with a good night's sleep.
Without question this will be our home away from home anytime we want to get...
