I wish we had a zero star button due to the experience I had on February 18, 2025. I came to this location to visit as I normally do once every two months. I was greeted by the general manager Ashley & I had mentioned to her that I came to get the visitor pass, which is my normal when I come to visit my family once every two months. she had mentioned to me about your 31.99$ plan monthly plan however I told her I was not interested in getting a membership (from the beginning) I was OK with paying the visitor pass which normally it was $25 for a three day pass she directed me to the computer system & I put in my information. I'm thinking I'm about to pay the pass and do my usual however!(note)I have had a membership with 24 hours for 6 years & I stopped having a membership due to several reasons. I am now in the Bay Area happy with my home gym as a Fitness SF AnyWho, I am aware that we have seen each other several times walking into the gym for the past 6 months. She knows I'm a visitor & she still insisted that I get a tour from one of her candidates so I told her that I have been coming to the gym for a long time that I'm OK I don't need a tour. She mentioned that it was mandatory which was a bit ridiculous and time consuming for me since I had hair appointment &was on preworkout. However, when we got back to the front, she asked me if I like the new gym equipment, which I wasn't aware of yet before the workout. I just said sure because my pre-workout was kicking my butt & I really needed to get in there so she takes me into her office and starts trying to sell me into the membership again as I've already told her that I am not interested in getting a membership she clarified to me that there was a 31.99$ deal. She argued with me and says Why not if I come there once in a while it'll be cheaper for me. I clarified to her that I'm happy with my gym. so she pauses for about a couple minutes, clicks on the mouse twice stares at the computer screen and this is right after I've already put in my information into the system with my ID (before the tour) & asked me if there's any way she can be able to help me get a membership, even if she has to break the rules somehow somewhere into getting me a better deal I have told her no I'm not interested. She pauses again and stares at the screen. Give it a couple minutes then and still doesn't understand what I'm telling her therefore she asked me once again about the membership deal 31.99$ you guys are offering. I’m Not interested . Also, have to remind her that my pre-workout was kicking my ass. She took her time to keep me there for almost 30 minutes (she didn’t have the urge to speed it up) in the front while this pre-workout was already destroying me & she did not give up & respect that I DONT want a membership the fact that after she made me pay $30 for the visitors pass for three days & finally let me go do my workout. I was very upset now I get into the restrooms & I see toilet paper all over the floors. I see urine all over the toilet seats. I see guys with shirts off in the gym still see equipment that needs update like missing bolts ,empty sanitizing bottles, dirty water from the sink.doubt someone would care to make any changes & to try to do all that to convince me to get a membership after I said several times no in many ways not wanting to have much responsibility. Not worried about the price for the visitors pass. I was on a pre-workout I had to repeat it again. It's like she wasn't listening to me & was ignoring me the whole time while she was being persistent about selling me into the membership. now I don't wanna even go back to the gym. I enjoy going to when I visit and I'm very disappointed that this happened. I only made 30 minutes of my workout because I couldn't work out correctly. I had a hair appointment aswell,This is a big deal what I experience was not OK especially for new customers coming in. I never do reviews to complain and I have to do this one because this was not OK for anyone to experience. Will never be back. Very...
Read moreEDIT: I am changing from 1 star to 4 stars since the manage took her time to read this review and in the same week she reached out to discuss the situation and to offer ways of correcting it. I am still planning to go to the gym with my husband to meet with her and talk more about, but I see as a good thing that she was fast to respond and try to help out to fix the issue.
Looking at the reviews I can understand why the 24th Fitness can't have an average of 4 stars in reviews. I agree with people complaining about how dirty this place is. But for me, the issue is something else. I went with my husband to visit the gym at the beginning of this year and the 2 main reasons we decided to get a membership is because the gym is pretty close to our home and I could use the gym as his guest. The lady who sold us the membership said that it would be ok if my husband would come with me to let me in, even if he could not stay or needed to leave earlier than me. Lots of time my training is longer and I would like to use the sauna, but my husband does not care about it, or I just want to go to do some cardio and sauna when he does not want to go and stay. She said that this was ok - he just needed to come with to "let me in" even if he would not stay. Months later when we went to the gym, I would stay and he needed to go back home we were told by a guy in the reception (so bad I can't remember the name of these employees) that there is not such a thing and the only way I could use the gym is ONLY when my husband is with me and he needs to be with me ALL the time and not leave earlier. He said that this is the stated policy in the contract. So, well we probably are wrong for not reading the fine print, but at this point what can I think about people working in this business? They don't care about stating the truth, but only about making the sale, and this to me, in a sense ends up reflecting the character of the business in itself. We already canceled the membership and even though we still have months paid for use, we are not going. We have been using Planet Fitness for months now, it is a bit far from us and we decided this time each of us would have our own membership - it is indeed cheaper than 24hrs fitness, it is INDEED 24 hours (it is not only the name) and we are pretty satisfied with it.
So if someone says to you that you can have a guest/be a guest who can go and stay without the person who is the member, do...
Read moreI would highly discourage anyone from using the 24 Hour Fitness at DOCO.
24 Hour Fitness has been purchased by a private equity firm. This would ruin any business, and it appears to be ruining 24 hour fitness.
I moved to Sacramento this year and when I went into 24 Hour Fitness, I told them that I had had a lot of bad experience with cancelling gyms before and gyms preventing me from cancelling or putting a lot of costs on me when cancelling. So, I asked very specifically what their cancellation policy. I was told repeatedly that as long as I gave 30-days notice, I would have no trouble cancelling. That they wouldn’t do that to their customers. This is literally what we talked about most with the membership because I wanted to be sure that I wouldn’t have another bad experience.
Unfortunately, I have had another bad experience. Honestly, it is the worst experience I have had cancelling a gym membership because they are making me pay the remainder of the year membership (8 months) with no reasonable prorating of the expense based on the fact that I can't access the gym anymore.
I unexpectedly have the move. So, I went in to do a cancellation. Not only will they not refund any of the year of membership that I paid for, they were very rude. I told him I was very unhappy considering that the cancellation process had been a primary conversation when I became a member at the gym. Their response was to victim blame saying if you knew you were going to move, then why did you pay for a year? As if I knew that I would have to move unexpectedly.
I asked that they at least make sure that this wouldn’t happen to anyone else. That they needed to make sure the staff was trained to give accurate information to their customers as I had gotten inaccurate information. I was told repeatedly that I only needed to give 30 days notice. Would he at least say that they would do staff retraining? This man was so condescending in refusing at all to do any staff training to prevent this from happening again. He insisted that I misunderstood and that it was my fault entirely.
I understand that corporations and hedge funds are here to extract money from us “peasants.” I realize I fell into the “buyer beware” trap. However, the victim blaming, and the lack of concern of what lies employees were telling in order to make a sale is so blatantly insulting...
