Gorgeous state park. 5 stars to take special pictures. Make sure you check in at the front desk before you take pictures they have many do nots. We are responsible, respectful citizens and always respect property and people. However, the lady at the information desk was less than respectful. She spoke to me as if I had no common sense or we were there to be disrespectful and disrespect the property. She asked for me to read the policy and because I read it too fast she commented, โyou obviously didnโt read it allโ and continued to speak down to me. She then asked for my signature to sign in and because my signature wasnโt to here likings she commented, โthatโs not a signature, itโs not legibleโ. Her smart and disrespectful comments were unnecessary and upsetting. Not only was she rude but she was also a hypocrite. She repeated herself multiple times saying, โbe respectful to others that visit the parkโ, however she was the most disrespectful person in the park. We not only shared the space with other guests, but when we were told we could not have our tripod we removed it immediately. We also received many compliments from guests who asked to take pictures of my daughter and with her. It would have been a perfect day but the disrespectful and rude lady left a bitter taste with the experience. Hopefully someone is able to speak to her about her disrespectful comments and...
ย ย ย Read moreMy partner in crime and I have been to the other governor's mansion in town, but hadn't visited LSM yet. On Saturday, while celebrating our 11'th anniversary, we planned a visit to check out what this site was all about. The lobby is packed with great info on the development and history of the mansion It's INCREDIBLE what changes the home, the property, and Sacramento has gone through over the last 100 years. Our guide, Ryan, was so friendly and patient with the kids in our group. He had a very obvious passion for his job and for the history of the mansion and it's owners and residents over time. I feel like I learned so much about Sacramento simply from our short little visit to this beautiful home. I am SO THIRSTY to sneak a peek at the rooms we're not allowed to enter. You won't see it all because there isn't photographic evidence to help restoration of certain parts of the home. DO NOT expect to take any photos during the tour (you can outside of the mansion) and make sure to hydrate first because there's no opportunity to drink while you're inside. Very friendly docents, very informative and amazing tour, and it's an incredible part of...
ย ย ย Read moreMy friend and I were out wandering Sacramento and just stumbled across the mansion. We walked around it trying to find the entrance and when we finally got in we realized we were there an hour early for the tour. While debating whether we should hang out or take off Joe at the front desk started up a conversation about movie stars and actors. We sat there for about 45 minutes talking about different actors and movies and actually watched some trailers with him. It was a very pleasant experience and finally our tour time rolled around and Joe ended up being our guide. We were the last tour of the night so on top of having a really fun walk through the mansion filled with facts and laughs we got a couple behind the scenes moments with him. Joe has only been working there a short while but man was he knowledgeable and funny. It was definitely a 10/10 experience for me and we were very happy that we just stumbled across the mansion that day! Will return and highly suggest you go. There are some stairs so if those are an issue be wary but overall it's not too much walking just a lot of standing. Thank you again Joe for such a...
