My best friend and I stayed here a few weeks ago, and I will never stay at a Hilton again after what we went through.
First off, they nickel and dimed us at every turn. No complimentary breakfast, it's $20/PERSON. Parking at the hotel was $47 a night plus $25 a day, which would have added up to well over $200 just to keep our car there while staying at a hotel room we had already paid for. Which, with all the reviews detailing the excessive break-ins while using valet, clearly it wasn't worth it anyway. Since we refused to pay that ridiculous fee, we had to park two blocks away and carry all of our luggage to the hotel, something I’ve never had to do at any other hotel.
When we got to our room, the shower was filthy and had mold. For a Hilton, that’s completely unacceptable. The problems didn’t stop there. I called room service to ask for water, and they told me they could not bring water to the room — I would have to come downstairs and purchase it again at almost $4 per bottle. They also had complimentary spa water in the lobby we were using previous nights to obtain water, which was empty. When I asked for it to be refilled, the front desk staff member named Andrea was incredibly rude, unhelpful, and chose to escalate the situation instead of simply providing basic hospitality.
Andrea actually called the cops on us over water. Yes — water. We were kicked out of the hotel in the middle of the night, while it was raining, in a city we weren’t even familiar with, two hours from home. The police themselves told us how absurd the situation was and even laughed with us about how unnecessarily the hotel staff had escalated things. If we had been disorderly, as Andrea implied, the police would have arrested or cited us — but of course, that didn’t happen.
This was by far the most unprofessional, hostile, and disappointing experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. Between the outrageous parking fees, the dirty room, the lack of basic amenities, and being thrown out in the rain over bottled water, this Hilton completely failed on every level.
To make matters even more unbelievable, one of the valet staff members actually witnessed what was happening in the lobby. She gestured for us to follow her to the elevator, and when we explained why we were upset — that we simply needed water, that Andrea had refused to help us and instead called the police — she was shocked. She told us that was ridiculous and went downstairs herself to get us water. This just proves how unnecessary and unprofessional the front desk staff’s behavior was, having another Hilton employee clearly see how poorly the situation was handled.
I however would recommend Hotel Contessa, they were more than helpful & apologized we had to go through such trouble at Hilton for water and provided us with FOUR complimentary water bottles upon entering our room.

Read moreOur Stay was for 5 nights. This hotel was infested with ANTS! they were in our room, bathroom, lobby, by the pool. and in the restaurant they were everywhere. We told the desk and they were "sorry about the inconvenience" This is a multi billion dollar international corporation. I bet there are no ants in the world headquarters. Our room backed up to the elevators and you could hear the doors opening and closing all night. We asked for a different room after the 1st night. Malik at the front desk had maintenance help us move to a new room at 10:30 pm. Our new room which faced Houston St. had a beautiful view of downtown, the only problem was the noise from the street and the bar across the street (The Whiskey Distillery) was so loud that you could actually feel the low frequency Bass. I took a glass of water and placed it on the window sill and you could see the vibrations in the water! I would think a corporation the size of Hilton could get the city of San Antonio to enforce there noise ordinance. Also we assumed that for the price we paid for a room per night that it would include a free continental breakfast. I had an English muffin and a coffee, my wife had a bowl of fruit. an employee came over to our table and handed us a bill for $36.00 she informed us the the continental breakfast was $18.00 per person! We ask to see the manager and She (Tracy) said that we had to pay the bill. The head Chef came out and said he would take care of the bill. The staff at this Hotel went out of their way to accommodate us. They were polite and very friendly. We tipped them accordingly. Every morning we came down to the lobby and the restaurant area was empty, wonder why...Also, This Hotel does not offer room service unless you request it. So if you need a toweI or bar of soap or clean sheets you have to request it then wait for someone to bring it to your room. The Microwave in our room nearly caught on fire. it smelled like burning wires the first time we used it. They had to replace it but could not get it back into the cabinet so they just left on the countertop next to the TV. The surface of the bathtub was incredibly slippery and downright dangerous. They have rubber safety mats, but you have to request it at the front desk! My wife had broken a hip from a fall and I have hip replacement in both hips. A fall for earther of us would have been catastrophic!! We would not recommend this...
